Now that it is close enough to Otakon, time for me to make some predictions. Like always, I separate them into two categories indicating the likeliness of that getting announced knowing full well that far less gets announced than I usually list.

            Sentai
Great Chance: Dubs for Girls' Last Tour, Land of the Lustrous, and Umaru-chan R, and other simulcasted titles, Dub for Maria Watches Over Us, License and dub Kaiji, Tada Never Falls in Love and Real Girl cast announcements, LE announcement
Longshot: Home video license of an Amazon or Netflix exclusive title, LE announcement for a previously released show (in particular Clannad)

            Aniplex
Great Chance: License As Miss Beelzebub Likes It, Seishun Buta Yaro, and The Most Huggable Man Has Threatened Me (Fall 2018 titles), solicit Blend S and Fate/Apocrypha, new movie license, dub announcement (I'm thinking GGO for this)
Longshot: License and dub Re:Creators, license Saekano Flat, simuldub for SAO: Alicization, license of any other Netflix or Amazon exclusive

            Right Stuf
Great Chance: Aria the Animation Kickstarter street dates, Gundam Seed and G-Gundam Ultra Edition details, BD releases of more titles, more obscure title licenses
            Longshot: Another dub Kickstarter drive

            Funimation
Great Chance: November solicitations, Fall Simuldub lineup, license Index III and Gakuen Basara, home video license for Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul and Seven Deadly Sins season 2
Longshot: Home video license for any other Netflix or Amazon exclusive

            Discotek
Great Chance: Licenses Kimagure Orange Road (which is hinted), More Lupin and former Geneon titles licensed, more obscure titles licensed
            Longshot: Dubs for more titles

How is it possible to have a non-panel Dragon Ball panel? That’s what I’m observing in a packed room right now #Otakon

Otakon is sorry to announce the DBZ panel has been cancelled. It was a miscommunication about guest availability and DBZ was not at fault at all. We should have removed it from the schedule earlier and we apologize for the oversight

Good to see that attendance is back up to where it was before it left Baltimore. Last year saw a huge drop in attendance due to the move to DC, but this year it rebounded a bit. It still is a far cry from the 34,000 in 2014 when it hit is peak as that led to the move to DC. Anyway, it's not long after SDCC that next year's Otakon will happen.

IMO, I think the drop last year was definitely due to the con moving to the DC area, with some people having concerns about it (i.e. a new location, the tighter security). While there's still a few elements that would deter people this year as well (i.e. the convention not having any events at the Marquis, the Unite the Right rally on Sunday afternoon), after some good of mouth about last year's convention (i.e. a lot more room, very easy access to and from the convention center), Otakon is slowly regaining some of its attendees from the Baltimore days.
