We're excited to welcome music composer kensuke ushio to Anime Expo 2018! Liz and the Blue Bird is the latest film by director Naoko Yamada, following her critically-acclaimed A Silent Voice which touched the hearts of audiences around the world.

Based on Ayano Takeda's coming-of-age novel Sound! Euphonium, Liz and the Blue Bird revolves around a fleetingly beautiful moment in the lives of two girls, Mizore and Nozomi.

Produced by Kyoto Animation, the main staff of "A Silent Voice" reunites on this film, bringing together the creative energies of director Naoko Yamada, writer Reiko Yoshida, character designer Futoshi Nishiya, and music composer kensuke ushio.

Funimation sure has quite a lot going on at AX this year. Hopefully, they will announce lots of stuff seeing that they have been making more of their announcements through PR this year. At the very least, they will announce that they have SSSS Gridman, which airs this fall, seeing that they have a special panel for that, as well as the BD rights to the second season of Seven Deadly Sins.

                              Some predictions here:

Hopes: Stuff I requested in their last survey (specifically Nanoha and the remaining Initial D seasons), an update on the rest of their 2013 Sunrise rescues that isn't Big O and a Cutie Honey Universe dub.

Expectations: Sailor Moon SuperS Part 2 date, Jojo Part 4 dub cast, Jojo Part 5 official announcement, an interview with the Jojo director for one of the BDs (most likely for Part 4) and a farewell speech from Char at the Sailor Moon Panel (she left Viz to work at Capcom USA last month but she will be there to host this one)
Hopes: Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission, release dates and/or dub casts for Infini-T Force & Mazinger Z Infinity and speaking of Mazinger, an interview with Guest of Honor, Go Nagai for that BD would be nice.

                              Aniplex of America:

Hopes: Devilman Crybaby...with a Winter release date (too much to buy between now and December)

Hopes: Yu Yu Hakusho movie 2, regular releases for Mach GoGoGo (still not buying that head) and the DBZ Jump OVAs.

Hopes: A regular-sized Yuki Yuna box set release through Right Stuf.

So as I do every year, it's time for me to make my predictions for this year's Anime Expo. I come in fully expecting for there to be far fewer announcements than I have listed here, and as such I have divided potential announcements in terms of likelihood.

Great Chance: Summer simulcast license, License Votoms, Dub cast for Made in Abyss and Princess Principal, dub and LE announcements for Umaru-chan R, Girls' Last Tour, and Land of the Lustrous
Longshot: Home video license of an Amazon or Netflix exclusive title, LE announcement for a previously released show (in particular Clannad)

Great Chance: Summer season simulcasts, announce SSSS.Gridman and Ulysses (mentioned in the Crunchyroll Expo guest list)
Longshot: More home video licenses, other fall season simulcasts

Great Chance: License Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind, Solicit Stardust Crusaders season 2, Solicit next Sailor Moon title, license of a summer title, manga announcements
Longshot: License Megalo Box, license Double Decker, solicit Infini-T Force, Captain Tsubasa streaming info

Great Chance: Solicit first Fate/Heaven's Feel movie, Fate/Apocrypha, and Blend S, license As Miss Beelzebub Likes it and Seishun Buta Yaro (fall titles), domestic BD release of Garden of Sinners, license Devilman Crybaby
Longshot: License Re:Creators and dub cast announcement, license Saekano Flat

Great Chance: License home video rights for Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul and Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War, license SSSS.Gridman and Free: Dive into the Future, October solicitations
Longshot: Home video license of any other Amazon or Netflix exclusive show

                                Right Stuf
Great Chance: Licenses for shows from long ago, BD release of catalog titles, Aria the Animation street date, license Gundam Build Divers, BD release of another Gundam series
Longshot: License Amanchu!, Kickstarter campaign to dub another one of their shows (I'm thinking Victorian Romances Emma)

                                Pony Canyon
Great Chance: License of summer and fall titles, solicit Sound! Euphonium season 2, re-release Rokka with a dub
Longshot: Sub-licensing to other companies, dubs and BD releases for Yuki Yuna season 2 and Welcome to the Ballroom, BD releases of any other title

Great Chance: Dub cast for Dragon Pilot, Piano Forest, Lost Song, and Unit Pandora, streaming rights for Back Street Girls and one other summer title
                                Longshot: Doing simulcasts
