SYNOPSIS: When a sickly young girl suddenly becomes obsessed with inventing new things, her family and friends are all puzzled. Announced today at Crunchyroll Expo, Sentai will be releasing a home video release for Ascendance of a Bookworm.

The two companies are joining forces for a new home video and electronic sell-through distribution partnership. Four titles have been announced to kick things off: Food Wars! The Fourth Plate, Ascendance of a Bookworm, Granbelm, and World Trigger.

December solicitations are are coming, and the first season of this show figures to be among them (either December or January) seeing that this is going to be one of the first titles released under Crunchyroll's newly formed partnership with Sentai. If Sentai decides to do a LE release, it's going to be a tricky one to deal with as it consists of a split-cour and a third season that will be airing soon. Anyway, I expect it to be released as a SE-only for the first season to start out with soon based on the news coming out of Crunchyroll Expo.

Based on the timing, I was expecting this to be released with just the first season in January, than with the second season coming sometime in the spring. And with a third season coming that it would have made more sense to release it like that. But here it is coming with the first two seasons released together, and with the second part coming sooner than what is typically allowed.

Isn’t Crunchyroll on the Production committee? If so that might be why.

Man really wanted this to get the LE treatment. At least it contains both seasons at once. Fingers crossed we get a chipboard artbox to house the whole series when S3's solicitation drops down the road.
