I would expect this to be part of the Right Stuf x ELEVEN ARTS home video distribution agreement but it hasn't been confirmed yet.

Anime is not a right. It is a privilege, a consumer product, art, work for hire, a luxury, a hobby, entertainment.

Find me on Facebook and Follow Me on Twitter to see plenty of silliness in the anime and manga worlds and much, much more.

This is amazing. I really wanted to see this movie so badly in the theater, but I missed my chance, sadly. I honestly was very worried that this movie wouldn't see a BD release here in America since Eleven Arts didn't strike me as the kind to do BD releases, but it's a good thing they have the deal with Shout Factory. This movie looks absolutely beautiful.

I'll order the deluxe version when it pops up. March is probably too far out right now.

Was wondering when the deluxe edition would get listed on Rightstuf. Looking forward to it.

It's been reported that the BD for Maquia was authored with two seperate video files for English and Japanese. The Japanese track has the subtitles hardcoded to it while the English track has soft subtitles for signs/songs and another for closed captions.

I have the first 3 parts of Digimon Tri and while Shout handled things a bit weirdly with the sub tracks, there were no hardsubs there so it's probably safe to assume that Eleven Arts is responsible for what happened here.

I think it may have been something the JP requested or the only version of the Japanese version provided to them or something. The subs seemed different than the ones used in theaters though the Japanese video file also has Japanese credits at the end as well. I didn't go through the movie to check if the date/time scenes were also different in the Japanese version though.

So much for that. Locking the subtitles is one thing, but hard-coding is much more problematic as it means a separate video track, which compromises the quality as a lot of space is eaten up for the extra video track.

It's kinda funny because the last time I heard about something like this was with Kaze's Sailor Moon German DVDs since they used an old TV broadcast master for the German dub (which AFAIK had no edits aside from the opening & ending) and used the Japanese master for that version but with hardsubs.
