  • So it's mostly aesthetics, which is what I expected out of the director's cut since there isn't much wiggle room to make anything more noticeable. Anyway, I'm good to go for the second season.

    • So a brief update:

It's 2020 and nada--zip--zilch. After waiting for a shipment with those replenished discs circa last Thanksgiving, I contacted Funimation Support just before Christmas with news of my no-news situation still and got a reply that my order was stuck in processing at the warehouse and that a specialist would investigate further and get back to me. The holidays passed with no further communiques, and I replied to that December response twice with no result. Then last Sunday I sent a fresh, detailed complaint via Funimation Support's contact web page and fairly promptly received a reply sincerely apologizing for the delays and thanking me for my continuing patience. Apparently "a number of these replacements" still need to be sent out, and everyone is working diligently to do so (written with a straight face, I presume), so I'll be contacted when more info on my replacements is available. (Really, how hard is this? Sheesh.)

I'm sorry to just vent here, but I'm firmly in the camp that misery loves company. Also, I hope some of this might prove useful to others here who are awaiting news. Best wishes, all.

      • That was quite an odd time to bring this up seeing that they just rescinded one of their licenses this season after it deeming Interspecies Reviewers to be "outside their standards". That said, it just adds to the frustration that they continue to just sit something that should have been a real simple fix. Given this disaster, I'm thinking that Crunchyroll ought to just let Viz handle the BD distribution for the sequel seeing that they did form a partnership.

        • Still waiting on mine as well, though I sent mine in more towards the end of this past summer. It was within the return period, so I'm obviously expecting I'll actually get the replacement eventually as well. It's not like I've ever had respect for Funimation, but this does indeed seem like a new low even for them, especially for those who've been waiting for over a year (or more at this point?).

          • I sent mine back as soon as it was possible to do so, and I've also heard nothing, so yeah... great job, Funimation. After the Code Geass replacement ordeal, I wouldn't expect anything less (or more, I suppose).

            • Wow. I feel bad for you all. I was one of the lucky people that got 2 sets of replacement discs back from them (the regular versions and limited edition version.) I would be willing to send my extra regular discs to someone who wants them.

I hadn't heard about Funimation's dropping of Interspecies Reviewers (picking up news like this is one of my many reasons for perusing these boards), but my bringing it up now was more out of frustration and a feeling of being more peeved than usual at the conjunction of the numerous advertisements of the "director's cut" of Re:ZERO, Funimation's presence at Ohayocon a few weeks ago (whose sessions I didn't attend because of said peeve), and coming up on a year's anniversary of this disc-replacement fiasco. (Ohayocon was a lot of fun, by the way, irrespective of Funimation's attendance.)

                • Funimation have had my discs for over 6 months now. Like others back in December they said I should receive my LE discs in a week or so but that didn't happen and then I got the stuck in processing, specialist will contact you runaround and they haven't responded to anything in over a month. The sheer incompetence of them is breathtaking. They have my name and address, how difficult could it possibly be. Do they have one half-wit running the whole operation over there.

                  • Similarly, I waited many months after mailing in my discs and received nothing. But then I recently emailed Funimation again to have them resend my replacements and I received them very quickly. Anyone who has been waiting for months to receive replacements, I recommend you do the same.

                    • Problem is I've been in touch with them multiple times each month until the last month where they stopped responding. I did open a new ticket yesterday so we'll see.

If you were left wondering last week where that week's episode of the Director’s Cut of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- was, well wonder no more! Last week in Japan, instead of broadcasting the next episode of the edited one-hour version of the first season of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- that we’ve come to know so far, they aired the first OVA of the series, Memory Snow!

Now – to make sure you're not left out in the cold without an episode – we are glad to announce that EX Memory Snow is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll right now alongside episode seven of the Director’s Cut, letting you explore the wintery wonderland that is Memory Snow and more great Rem and Ram content!

Looks like my barrage of multiple emails I sent finally got a response. They sent me a tracking number so we'll see.

                          • I sent mine in right at the end of the deadline. Although, that deadline seems to have been for making the initial request, not shipping. They told me that I was still eligible for a replacement even if they got the discs after the request deadline. Anyway, they had my discs all this time before I finally sent an e-mail two weeks ago. Four days later, they sent an e-mail about some discrepancy at the warehouse and asked for my address, tracking number for my discs, and proof of purchase. Five days after I sent the info, I got a tracking number for my discs. Now I can only hope they're the correct LE discs. lol

                            • Got my LE discs 6.5 months. File dates on disc are Feb 19, 2019 and correct LE cover art, so yay!

                              • So, lo and behold, along with Endymion, I received notice about replacement discs being shipped out last Friday, February 21st, and then today, without any intervening USPS updates, the postal service said my package from Flower Mound, Texas, had been delivered. I almost fell over when I opened the package to find what seem to be the correct replacement discs (the LE cover art is correct) for my BD discs for part 1 of Re:ZERO (although the falling may be due to my suffering a nasty cold today--I'm feeling really loopy right now). It's almost 12 months to the day that I mailed my discs to Funimation for replacement.

I happened to read russ869's post about receiving replacements a week ago, so I politely enquired again as part of my monthly to biweekly query. I was slightly concerned when the notice of shipping last Friday was addressed to another person, but I chalked that up to cut-and-pasting error. Either way, wow. I wish this bounty falls upon everyone else waiting for these replacements.

                                Now to pass out.
