Netflix Hikes Price of U.S. Streaming Service: Standard Plan Jumps to $13 per Month

      [...]

Netflix's most popular plan, the Standard tier that offers two HD streams, is increasing 18%, from $10.99 to $12.99 per month. The Premium plan, which provides up to four Ultra HD streams, is increasing from $13.99 to $15.99 per month (up 14.3%). In addition, the company for the first time is hiking its Basic plan, which offers a single non-HD stream, from $7.99 to $8.99 per month (+12.5%).

      • Well this makes me think about cancelling my subscription soon. I guess I'll finish the shows and movies I want to watch soon.

        • Well, that really bites, this after they raised their rates less than a year ago. It used to be $10 a month, then it was $11, and now it's up to $13. And now, the basic plan costs just about as much as the standard plan used to cost. But what would bite even more is if the new services coming in Disney+, the new Warner Media service, and the new NBC Universal service start getting involved with the anime industry. Disney shouldn't be much of a concern since they only want family-friendly stuff for which most anime shows don't fit the bill. But I worry about Warner Media since Crunchyroll is owned at the top by the same parent company, while NBC Universal has a lot of shows from its Japan branch that they could take to their own service instead of giving them to Crunchyroll.

Simulcasts: FTL, TOA-I, TSL, SAO, KTF, CQK, KMF, DAL, TSH, PNL, More TBD
The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

Being honest, of all the new players entering the streaming game Disney is probably the group I could most see try to break into anime. Considering Disney+ will be home to The Mandalorian, which sounds like a Star Wars take on a gritty western, I could see them attempt something of the like. I'd assume they'd attempt to produce works based on properties they already own, like expanding on the MADHOUSE Marvel concept or moving into Star Wars or Indiana Jones over licensing seasonal anime but I'm under the impression it'd be incredibly dangerous to count the possibility out entirely.

                • No wonder they increased the prices as they plan to spend away to get licenses. Netflix has always been quite ambitious when it comes to doing business.
