Was originally going to make a snarky comment about Viz having an anime department but I feel people would take that the wrong way. So I'll just say it is cool they actually are grabbing new shows besides the 1 BIG show they get every few hundred years... ;P

I would be in heaven if we got a proper BD release for the original/Stardust Crusaders/Diamond is Unbreakable. This is a series that definitely deserves a proper one and not the complete shitshow that was released on DVD only.

Looks like this and Terra Formars could have been those ones that Viz had just completed the deals on

Indeed! I just recently got into Jojo with WB's DVD (figured it was as good a time as any), and I personally was able to accept the shortcomings, but I'd gladly double dip for a more professional release with proper subtitles.

I also hope this leads to a Stardust Crusaders release with a dub in the same vein as the test dub from a while back. They fact that they said they'll discuss home video releases leads me to be (cautiously) optimistic that they indeed have the rights to do so, or they're at least in negotiations to do so.

Plus Viz's releases are distributed by Warner. Not sure how much that has to do with anything though. I've been seeing the first set at Wal-Mart, but I'd be surprised if Warner released more of the show themselves. They might just feel more comfortable letting Viz handle it.

That would be spectacular if they just let Viz do a BD release for the various seasons. Especially now that Season 1 already has a dub it would be such a shame for this series to just go to the wayside. I too have seen the Season 1 DVDs at various places, but after someone on here posted screencaps of the bootleg-esque menus and everything else, I have no interest in supporting that release.

Absolutely. I was crushed when I saw how mangled the home release was for season 1. Battle Tendency has to be preserved for future generations! Also, I'm really excited for part 4.

Every current Warner Home Video release has those menus (even Mad Max: Fury Road), so I wouldn't make too a big deal about that.

Yeah, and also, of all the things to complain about, I don't see why the menu is always the thing people mention above all else. The menu is completely the least important part of the DVD. If it's functional (and it is), then that's all that matters.

The dubtitles are a much bigger issue, though the translation is mostly solid anyway, so I could even overlook that if I had to, especially since I recently got through Shout Factory's Transformers Masterforce release, which did a "find and replace" job with the character names in the script. There was a character named Blood in Japanese, and the western name was Bomburst, and of course, Shout changed it per Hasbro's request I believe, and at one point, when another character is bleeding, they say "Blood?", but the subtitles say "Bomburst?". There wasn't anything that bad in the JoJo "subtitles". The worst thing about it was the "closed captions", which had things like "[Joseph screaming]".

In addition to the typical WB menus and the dubtitles, they also put the wrong opening song lyrics on episode 18, the one episode that they tried to add subs for (as seen here & here).

Warner already put it out on DVD. Sorry, not in the cards.
