Wel, this is one that it's always good to see staying in print. The blurays are a nice bonus.

I'm really surprised to see this; I was under the impression that Gatchaman had pretty poor sales when ADV released it.

This is great news! :D I hope they'll release the two sequel series too (the ones that Saban had butchered back in the 90s for Australia as Eagle Riders).

I wonder if this means Sentai might pick up Gatchaman Crowds too which starts in July? While I'm not interested in the original series, I am looking forward to Crowds because of Kenji Nakamura directing it.

Gatchaman was remastered in HD along with some other Tatsunoko series that have seen BD releases as complete boxes in H2 2012/Summer 2013. Actual video quality varies a bit for each box, but the upgrade worked out great for Gatchaman (same for Speed Racer I believe).

Good thing I held off on getting the Japanese release... October is pretty quick too (one year after the R2 release). Sentai's going to save me quite a bit of money on this (and on some other stuff they've announced this weekend)

This is surprising but it's also nice to see this classic (And fun) series back in print along with the OVA series as well. I already own all of the ADV boxsets & Urban Vision's release of the OVA series but I'll definitely double-dip for the BDs.

I'll be happy to upgrade my ADV DVDs (and the unpressive UV OVA one too) with the BD release provided that it is the same as the Japanese one for the TV, which received decent reviews. I would like to see Sentai licensing Gatchaman II & F too even if it's a sub-only release.

The 94 OVA was a very nice compressed remake for the original, which i personally enjoyed so much.

Might have to wait on these a bit. Last I heard they were part of the Saban Entertainment's catalog (through Eagle Riders) when Saban Entertainment was sold to Disney, though I have no idea how long of a contract Saban signed at the time for the rights so they may have quietly reverted since then.

Oh i didn't know that since i only watched some eps of J-Force decades ago and didn't really get exposed to Eagle Riders, but thanks for the heads up . I hope that there is a way to get them licensed in the near future.

This was an unexpected license rescue. Blu-ray wasn't even remotely in my thought. With the length of the series, I'm very curious how many sets they are going with.

Ahh, yeahhhh...Snapping this up baby, even though they weren't able to get '78 movie (which would have been nice). Now hopefully they'll be able to use those Alex Ross art for the the disks and cover.
