TRSI removed their listings for The Prince of Tennis DVD Boxset 1, DVD Boxset 2, DVD Boxset 3, and DVD Boxset 4 on Februry 22nd. They were on sale for $15.99 each before the de-listing.

And now WBshop.com has removed the four releases from their site as well. It's pretty much safe to say the series (that was never fully released by Viz Media) is now OOP.

Amazon.com at the moment still has the four sets on sale. It's uncertain how long the sale and stock will last.

Re: The Prince of Tennis is now OOP

The release was incomplete anyway. I'm hoping VIZ does a manufacture-on-demand thing for some of their titles that weren't released in full, like Prince of Tennis, Hikaru No Go, and Full Moon O'Sagashite (bad dub and all...).

I'm stoked to finally be able to see beyond what Viz released on DVD
Anime is not a right. It is a privilege, a consumer product, art, work for hire, a luxury, a hobby, entertainment.

Find me on Facebook and Follow Me on Twitter to see plenty of silliness in the anime and manga worlds and much, much more.

WOW! Talk about unexpected, and a series I thought was left for dead. Excited for Funimation to hopefully do this show justice after Viz butchered the original release and never finished it.

I've never been that invested in the series, but great to see Funimation pick up all of a series that's so significant but neglected. Maybe I'll check out some of it eventually.

I never expected that it would be Funimation who ends up with this. If anybody, I was thinking that Discotek would have been the most likely to do so. But this show is finally getting the proper treatment as the only thing that was put out was a butchered version by Viz that was designed to air on Toonami back when it aired during primetime. Not to mention, we only got a handful of episodes from them. Funimation sure has quite a lot of stuff on their table to dub as they are taking on way more simulcasts than they have in the past, all while there's still One Piece that they are a good 300 or so episodes behind on, and now they have 200+ episodes of this. It's a good thing they have the technology in order to allow recording to happen from just about anywhere that has allowed them to tackle so many dubs. In any case, it's about time that I will get to see this show the way it was meant to be seen as opposed to what Viz gave us.
