Definitely one of my most wanted license rescues. I would love to be able to complete it.

They're probably too niche to ever happen, but I'd love to see those 90s shoujo series like Mizuiro Jidai and Nurse Angel Ririka SOS.

I second Nurse Angel Ririka SOS! I haven't seen the other one, but I'm sure I'd like it since I love 90's shoujo.

2021 is the year that just keeps on giving—beloved rom-com manga Komi Can’t Communicate from Tomohito Oda is finally getting an anime this October!

          • After seeing how a number of those shows Funimation blogged about went elsewhere that this means absolutely nothing. Not to mention, they talked about Made in Abyss seeing that while Sentai has been struggling, there's just no way they will let the second season slip out of their grasp. And Komi Can't Communicate is going to be on TV Tokyo, which generally points towards Crunchyroll's direction, but now that means absolutely nothing.

The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

So far we have two no-gos (though even then HV and possibly dubs as well might still be on the table), four confirmations, and a bunch still on the fence. I don't think there's enough of a baseline to prove or disprove anything about the blog yet, so continuing to mention posts here is probably safe.

I'd also be real careful about assuming that just because Sentai presumably wants to keep Made in Abyss that they'd be able to. Funimation was able to poach Log Horizon and Megalobox from their respective licensors, and with the recent announcement of Sony and CyberAgent (Cygames) investing heavily in Kadokawa back in February (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/new...t-sony/.169158), we may see a big paradigm shift in where Kadokawa licenses go soon. Or not. Too soon to say, but like the blog posts it's probably worth noting for future reference.

                • This could be for Anime Limited, Discotek Media, or someone else.

Thank you for your support! @MediaOCD now owns a permanent license of Scenarist UHD. Many more 4K Blu-rays coming! Special thanks to @SCENARIST_LLC for helping us test the waters.
It's kind of strange that out of the 6 anime UHD BD's released (or announced) in the US and UK, we've made 4 of them. Sure ain't mad about that!

LUPIN THE 3rd PART 6 - Official Teaser Trailer

2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the animated series, and thus Lupin is at it again!

The new LUPIN THE 3rd PART6 series is set to unfold with the theme of “mystery” with Lupin and the gang thrown into the modern age. What could be their next target?

                    EDIT: https://tmsanime.com/news/lupin-the-...to-be-released | key visual
LOS ANGELES (May 26, 2021) – TMS Entertainment USA, Inc. today announced the upcoming release of LUPIN THE 3rd PART 6 with the first teaser visual and trailer. The series is set to premiere October 2021 and will be broadcast on television stations such as Nippon Television in Japan.

Making its anime debut with LUPIN THE 3rd PART 1 in 1971, LUPIN THE 3rd is a highly acclaimed media franchise created by Monkey Punch. The series follows the adventures of the world’s greatest thief Lupin III who is the grandson of famed French master thief Arsène Lupin. The franchise has spawned six television series, over ten theatrical releases, and 27 feature-length TV specials.

Together with Daisuke Jigen, an expert marksman, and Goemon Ishikawa, a master swordsman, and Fujiko Mine, the cunning temptress, Lupin travels across the globe to rob the world of its most valued treasures whilst always staying one step ahead of Inspector Zenigata and his Interpol agents. The teaser visual and trailer for the PART 6 have been released to the public upon the announcement of the series.

                    [Teaser Visual]

The key visual was created by character designer Hiroki Marufuji. Accompanied by the catch phrase, “Lupin, Villain or Hero?”, the key visual uses black, white, and red tones to create a highly contrastive depiction of Lupin’s face and serves to highlight the duality and nuances of Lupin’s complex identity.

Engulfed in a painted white light, the right side of Lupin’s face, depicts a familiar carefree and gentle Lupin. The left side on the other hand, shows a face obscured by shadows, and provides a foreign and unique look at a more callous and colder Lupin.

If a hotly anticipated anime release is taking far longer than you thought it would and you’re getting impatient, it’s almost certainly in some level of approvals hell. Usually over the packaging.
Even moreso if the creator is famous.
I can’t get in trouble for this tweet because it applies to SO MANY TITLES
Pretty much everything we do is always approval hell these days. Japanese firms are understaffed and people trying to work from home with Covid makes it even more fun.

Out of curiosity, how often has "producer having little-to-no memory of [thing]" cropped up?

                            Happens a lot with OVAs
Makes sense, lord knows if I worked on a fair lot of 20ish-to50ish minute oneshot/handful of episodes things over a couple of decades I'd probably forget some of them too

Also, usually the original producers are retired or dead, and who knows what they did with the paperwork
