U.S. Discontinued / OOP Anime Thread

Love Hina may be going OOP. It's listed as "No Longer Available" on RightStuf, and is sold out at Amazon, DVDEmpire, and Barnes & Noble. It's still available at the FUNimation Shop and RACS. Unless a Blu-ray Classics re-release is happening (which also would look bad), safe to say FUNimation is letting it expire. International rights are shared between King Records and Production I.G.

Apparently the Tsubasa S1 SAVE Blu-Rays don't have the extras that the DVDs do, so it may be wise to pick up those DVDs sooner rather than later. And for a 2004 TV anime, the BDs will just be upscales anyway, so there's not that much lost in going with DVD rather than BD.

Just an FYI, Viz does not seem to be in a big hurry to repress many of their DVD catalog items, and we're seeing spotty stock outs on some of their older series releases like Bleach and Naruto Shippuden. So far we've been able to source anything we can't get directly from them from our distributor network.

It seems the licenses for both seasons of Divergence Eve, Yumeria, and Tsukihime have expired, or are very close to expiring. The DVDs went OOP a while ago, and they're no longer streaming on HIDIVE. The show pages for each season of Divergence Eve and Yumeria link the expired HIDIVE links, and links to digital downloads from iTunes and the Microsoft Store. The show page for Tsukihime lists nothing. Divergence Eve and Yumeria were acquired in 2013, Tsukihime was acquired in 2008.

And a number of old shows are starting to disappear from HIDIVE as a result. A number of them can still be watched on Crunchyroll, but it seems that Sentai is not showing any interest in renewing their expired licenses.

Home video release (BD, DVD) is currently OOP. It's not streaming on HIDIVE. It looks like it's not available for digital purchase. Sentai's page is still up: https://www.sentaifilmworks.com/a/ca...-of-blue-water. It's looking more like Sentai no longer have the license, but it's not 100% certain.

If it's expired, Discotek will maybe get it. Most anime older than 5 years are now Discotek or bust as Nozomi gets only a few titles a year, and FUNimation is rarely interested in catalog titles. It looks like it's also no longer streaming on HIDIVE. The link no longer works on the show page. They released it in 2014 so it's been 6 years.

Looks like Sentai is losing or is about to lose the titles from their Tohokushinsha Film Corporation package deal from 2015 which included Windy Tales, Guardian Ninja Mamoru, and She, The Ultimate Weapon (Saikano). Reideen may have also been from that, but seems unaffected for now. They're no longer streaming on HIDIVE, the DVDs are OOP (though nearly all of Sentai's DVDs are OOP except for a very select few), and are no longer available digitally, though Guardian Ninja Mamoru still appears to be available on iTunes.
