DeMarco added that Toonami will not be showing Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and similar titles since "the rights to those shows are owned by our competition or are out of our price range." He continued, "Something you should know about THIS Toonami: We have very, very little $$. This experiment will need ratings success to receive more funding for new shows, more [mascot character] Tom animation, etc. I'm thankful for the $$ we've gotten, but it isn't a lot."

DeMarco also clarified Adult Swim's May 16 press release, which said that the network is developing "new original anime programming" for Toonami's return. Toonami will not have original titles created specifically for the programming block, "just new acquisitions." DeMarco said that he personally "love[s] One Piece and would love to see it on CN again" along with Gundam Wing. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Fairy Tail, and Inuyasha: The Final Act are some of the "many shows we've been looking at" or discussed.

DeMarco confirmed that Steven Blum will reprise his role of Tom, which "will be an updated hi-res version of Tom 3.0" aboard a slightly different but almost identical version of the spaceship Absolution. However, the character Sara will not appear for now ("costs too much to make"), and Peter Cullen will not be the voice of the block's promos due to his busy work schedule. The anime titles will keep their theme songs, and Toonami "will make our own 'pre' intros."

That was PR-speak that ended up being confusing. Sorry about that. NO ORIGINALS. Just new acquisitions.

With the April Fools joke this past weekend, could Toonami be brought back sometime in the future?

That is some odd timing there since that is Memorial Day weekend, and Toonami airs a marathon that weekend. And not to mention, there are no shows currently airing on Toonami right now that are finishing up soon. I wonder what they will do as the only thing I can think of is either they add a timeslot or end the re-run of the current Attack on Titan broadcast prematurely and have it take its timeslot.

With The Promised Neverland entering the lineup, here's an update as to where the broadcast is for each show.

Dragon Ball Super: 106/131 [Projected end date: Oct. 26]
My Hero Academia: 45/63 (Through season 3) [Projected end date: Sept. 14]
Sword Art Online: Alicization: 11/24 (Through first half of season 3) [Projected end date: July 27]
The Promised Neverland: 1/12 (Through season 1) [Projected end date: July 13]
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable: 31/39 [Projected end date: June 15]
    Black Clover: 65/Ongoing
    Boruto: 26/Ongoing
Hunter x Hunter: 138/148 [Projected end date: June 29]
    Naruto Shippuden: 244/500

End dates are assuming the episodes air every week while skipping the holiday weekends for marathons (May 27 for Memorial Day, July 6 for Independence Day, and Aug. 31 for Labor Day). Next show due to end is Diamond is Unbreakable, and while Golden Wind will eventually makes its way, Toonami will most likely air the next season of Attack on Titan. Then comes Hunter x Hunter and the best bet to replace it would be Mob Psycho 100 II. The Promised Neverland runs through July, and I can see Golden Wind starting up by then. And then there's One Punch Man 2, and my guess is that it starts up when MHA catches up, and then continues once Dragon Ball Super ends.

Next week's episode of SAO will be the highly controversial episode 10, and I wonder what kind of edits Toonami will be making. After all, this episode caused quite a huge uproar with the content, and even though this late night, there are still things that can't air on TV.

Quite the day for Neverland with its finale airing, second season being announced, and first season being announced for Toonami. Hopefully it does well and people can appreciate it for its psychological conflicts rather than being packed with fighting, since I believe Death Note wasn't as successful as it should've been on Adult Swim. Maybe it'll seem enough like Attack on Titan to that audience. I'd say there's some validity to claiming that Toonami was supposed to be an action block and the first season of Neverland doesn't have a ton of that, but they threw Pop Team Epic on there, so that point is moot.
