Re: Anime Limited licenses Psycho Pass Season 2

    Also:
“We’re still very much in the planning phase for these but at this time we can confirm that Collector’s Edition style releases are planned for both and Psycho-Pass 2 will be released in early summer
The "these" and "both" give the impression that the quote was taken from a broader statement that also refers to some other yet unannounced title.

Both seasons were licensed by FUNimation in the US and both are available on Netflix over there, whereas we only ever got the first season on Netflix here. Madman announced it back in November 2014 but are still yet to actually release it.

    --edit--

Probably also worth mentioning that FUNimation licensed the first Psycho-Pass from Fuji, and their license included the UK and Australia (Manga confirmed they licensed it from FUNi, and Madman's site says "Licensed by Fuji TV through FCC to FUNimation® Productions").
The structure for Psycho-Pass 2 I am less clear on, but the discs aren't out till March even in the US (honestly I thought it was out ages ago until I just checked).

Looking ahead, we know a lot of you have been eager to find out what we have planned for our release of Psycho-Pass 2 since our announcement that we’d be bringing the series to the UK. We will be releasing the series as a Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray set and standard DVD set and it will arrive on the 9th of May. Today we can show you the first visual of both versions! Let’s start off with the Limited Collector’s Blu-ray version.

            Psycho-Pass 2 Ltd. Collector's Edition Blu-ray - out 9th May

Our Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray release will come packed in a rigid case (top, centre) with a digipack (top right) to hold the the two Blu-ray discs. Around the rigid case will be transparent o-card (top left) around the rigid case. (For a point of reference, this was something also present with our out-of-print Tokyo Ghoul Season 1 Ltd. Ed. Blu-ray.) Also inside they’ll be a 56-page art book (bottom right) featuring character and general world information, illustrations and an interview with Tow Ubukata, who wrote the screenplay for Psycho-Pass 2. On-disc content will include the entire series, 11 episodes total (that are also referred to as episodes 23-33 of the franchise in some circles), with both the English dub and the original Japanese audio with subtitles. Additionally there will be commentaries and textless songs.

As a note, the disc configuration and BBFC certificate are not final, so those shown in the image above are very much placeholders. For those wondering, underneath the cellophane/plastic wrap around the whole product will be an onsert containing the information for the release. As we did with Samurai Flamenco Part 1 as a point of reference.

            =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

We want to take a moment to make it known that our next special offer at our web shop will be for our Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray of Psycho-Pass 2 and will launch this coming Tuesday (15th March) at 12pm. The offer will be valid until midday the following Monday (21st March).

            =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

For those of you wanting to get our standard edition DVD of the series, here’s a a first look at that. Again, BBFC certificate is not final.

            Standard Edition DVD

Psycho-Pass 2 will be available on both Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray and standard edition DVD from 9th May.

Anime Limited licenses Psycho Pass: The Movie

Jeremy Graves (Community Manager of Anime Limited) has announced from MCM Birmingham that the company have acquired the rights to Psycho Pass: The Movie.

UPDATE - Official All the Anime Blog Post:
Following the recent announcement of Anime Limited bringing Psycho-Pass 2 to the UK on Blu-ray and DVD one question that many people have asked has been “is there any chance you’ll be getting the movie too?” Our answer has simply been that we only have the rights to the second season of the series, but now the answer has changed!

Today we (Anime Limited) are delighted to announce that we will be bringing Psycho-Pass The Movie to the UK on Blu-ray and DVD in 2016. Psycho-Pass The Movie follows on from the events of the two series of the show to bring the action-packed next chapter in the franchise.

Synopsis: In a futuristic Japan, the Sibyl System is charged with keeping the peace. Using extensive surveillance and biological monitoring to gauge the likelihood that individuals will commit a crime, the police are able to use weapons called Dominators to remove potential criminals from the population before they become a problem. Confident with the success of the System within their own borders, the Japanese government has begun to export the technology to other countries, planning to ultimately spread the System across the globe.

When the state of SEAUn brings the Sibyl System in to test its effectiveness, it becomes a haven of peace and safety—for a time. Eventually, terrorists from SEAUn begin appearing in Japan, somehow slipping through the System’s security and attacking from within. Desperate for answers, Inspector Akane Tsunemori is sent overseas to bring the terrorists to justice. But when her investigation forces her into a standoff with an old ally, will she be able to pull the trigger?

“We know this is title that people have been hoping we would be able to bring to the UK and I’m so happy that we are able to fulfil the desires of fans” says Andrew Partridge, President of Anime Limited. “The film received it’s UK Premiere back in October last year and I had a great time watching it along with everyone else in attendance. Being able to release the movie in addition to our upcoming release of the second season was a logical progression for Anime Limited, and one the whole team, not just myself, is very happy about. The film itself really is the next chapter in the story and expands the franchise in ways I didn’t foresee in a very positive way. It progresses the story a massive leap, which considering it’s a feature film and not a series is a great achievement for all involved.”

At this time we can confirm that the film will be receiving a Blu-ray and DVD release in the UK in the third quarter of 2016, exact date to be confirmed soon. Our release will include both the English dub and the original Japanese audio with English subtitles. More details to follow as we can share them.

Pleased to hear this. I hope they do something special with the movie as the Funimation release is lackluster to say the least.

Next up, is Psycho-Pass 2, however this news isn’t as bad. Our release will now be out a week later than planned due to a delay in delivery of stock. So the new date is 16th May, just a couple of weeks away. You can expect a full unboxing of this next week!

Also surprisingly good was Psycho-Pass, the season two Collector's Edition. It's the season everyone keeps telling me is weak - I personally love it, but I can see why people would say it's not as gripping as season one, so everyone is different I guess and I'm just a fanboy of it! That series has done well on both Blu-ray and DVD
