                @FUNIOP

Ditch the Texas and Canada list. Media Blasters has never worked with the Texan and Canadian cast. They had mostly worked with New York and LA based studios in the past.

Personally, I prefer Johnny Yong Bosch as either Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi. However, I would more likely to prefer a newer talent (I'm pretty sure I've heard of Jonathan Meza, is he one of the newer talents) or a veteran voice actor who doesn't get a lot of anime roles (James Arnold Taylor).

NYAV Post had had some Texas VA's appear in their dubs for Media Blasters in the past on rare occasions (Media Blasters doesn't seem to use NYAV lately, though). Otherwise, you're right. This is a "fantasy" dub thread, though. You can make casts that are unrealistic or unlikely if you want.

I guess you may be right, but I can't find an anime where NYAV Post used a cast of voice actors that are entirely from either the Fort Worth/Dallas or Houston area. Maybe I need to search a bit harder.

Anyways. Here is my take on the Squid Girl dub:

                    Squid Girl: Sandy Fox
                    Eiko Aizawa: Michelle Ruff
                    Chizuru Aizawa: Bridget Hoffman
                    Takeru Aizawa: Mona Marshall
                    Goro Arashiyama: Lex Lang
                    Sanae Nagatsuki: Lara Jill Miller
                    Nagisa Saitou: Kari Wahlgren
                    Cyndi Campbell: Cindy Robinson
Martin, Harris, and Clark: Steve Blum (it would interesting to have all three of Cindy's colleagues to be voiced by one man to demonstrate the vocal range)

I just meant that they've appeared, not that the entire casts (or anything close really) have ever been from Texas. Vic Mignogna was in Giant Robo and Midori Days, while Laura Bailey was in Seven of Seven. Laura Bailey has been in more recent NYAV dubs too, but those are all after she moved to LA. While it's a live-action dub and not anime, The Machine Girl has Brina Palencia and Brandon Potter in it.

Chances are that a New York studio will be handling this dub. Also remember that NYAV uses VA's from both NY and LA, and Vic and Laura are both living in LA now. Also, Brandon Potter has moved to New York. Also, I might add that J. Michael Tatum did have a role in Pokemon.

Yeah, I know. I was just doing the other pools and figured I'd throw in the "Top Picks" option, and since that included a lot of Texas VAs, I ended up adding that anyway. Not that they couldn't use Ocean; they just don't for some reason.

Really? I was wondering about that. It still doesn't explain why Brina was in it, but that's interesting. Has he been in any other New York dubs? When did he move there anyway? I always just thought of him as a Dallas VA.

Thanks for the re-clarifications. The reason I doubted was the union issues (as all of the anime dubbed in Texas is non-union by law). Then again, the union thing does confuse me from time to time and I've been hearing a lot of conflicting reports whether or not union members are allowed to work in non-union studios and vice versa. But that's a whole different story.

Since Ocean is located in Canada, I think you need some sort of Canadian work permit for an American voice actor to work there and vice versa. That, along with union issues, the chances of Brad Swaile working with Bang Zoom! is much lower than say, Johnny Yong Bosch working with Funimation.

Cross-region talents is a bit confusing, but from my knowledge, even after Laura Bailey, Vic Mignogna, Troy Baker, Kyle Hebert, and Travis Willingham moved to the Los Angeles area, they still worked with Funimation from time to time. And even some Bang Zoom! regulars like Johnny Yong Bosch and Stephanie Sheh did work in the Funimation studios (hence there is a reason why some of my fantasy dub casts on anime that Funimation licensed feature Johnny Yong Bosch and Cristina Vee in them).

But anyways, let's get back on topic, my take on Kore wa Zombie desu ka?

Ayumu Aikawa: Johnny Yong Bosch, using his "teenage" type voice like Almaz from Disgaea 3 (or Micah Solusod if JYB isn't available)
                            Haruna: Cristina Vee
Eucliwood Hellscythe: Brina Palencia or Monica Rial (using different tones, paces, and pitches in the dream sequences)
                            Seraphim: Laura Bailey
Yuki Yoshida: Hilary Haag or Sandy Fox
                            Kyoko: Cherami Leigh
King of the Night: J. Michael Tatum
                            Dai-sensei: Luci Christian
                            Orito: Aaron Dismuke
                            Taeko Hiramatsu: Leah Clark
                            Kanami Mihara: Kira-Vincent Davis

I wasn't saying American VAs could be in Ocean dubs; I was saying that Media Blasters could have Ocean dub their anime like Viz, Bandai, etc. do, but they just don't for some reason. I don't know the details about American and Canadian VAs working in the opposite country, but the only example I can think of is Scott McNeil voicing Hohenheim in FUNimation's dub of the first Fullmetal Alchemist series, and even that he couldn't reprise in Brotherhood. So I'm sure it's a little more complicated than just the VA flying to a different area to be in a dub there. There are plenty of examples of that. Michael Sinterniklaas works everywhere but Canada, probably for that reason (oh, and Houston for some reason, but considering how much he's in Dallas, I'm sure he could is he wanted to).
