I have very little interest in Babylon generally its one of the least compelling titles on Amazon Prime right now. I really wish John and the rest of the current ADR Directors working under the Sentai roof would try to widen their casting net for Houston acting talent because their recent dubs need a lighting strike in the casting department change and mix it up.

Yeah this is about what I was expecting for the Houston dub of Baki it's been very clear for several years now that ADR Directors at Sentai need to reach out for far more local Houston acting talent for their dubs because their current crop of actors they pull from is far to small and limited for massive casts like these it's baffling to me that they haven't already done this.

What are you talking about? Their general roster has a ton of people, and newer people are coming in all the time, including in this very same cast list you're responding to. Plus, many of their more obscure actors have only just recently started getting larger roles too. I don't understand where your idea of their current talent pool being small comes from...

The vast majority of this cast isn't new most have been working in Houston dubbing now for many years now quite frankly bringing in a few new actors every year isn't really enough to advance and widen their core talent group they could definitely be doing more in this department. This becomes very apparent when watching recent dubs like Blade of the Immortal and season three of Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon where some actors are cast in far to many roles in a single dubbing production this isn't a new issue its been around for ages now. Shannon Reed is to inconsistent at times when it comes to casting in general Josh Morrison as Dorian makes sense but Courtland Johnson as Jack Hanma is a clear miscast to me. I believe they didn't list who they cast in the Yūjirō Hanma role? I plan on watching the dub but my expectations for it are far less enthusiastic now.

                  • Pretty much this was what I was expecting. It's a shame that Sentai decided to redub this show as Netflix is playing hardball with this, and Sentai could have easily decided to just release it sub-only if getting the Netflix dub is too cost-prohibitive for them.

                    • Joining the cast of Demon Slayer Mugen Train:(FYI just got out of a dub screening myself earlier but there were no dub credits, so while there's a particularly important character introduced who I'm pretty confident in recognizing the VA of, I'll wait till the official announcement from them or Aniplex)

                          • Following the release of the Sailor Moon Eternals trailer, The cast from the Viz Media dub of Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal have announced that they would be returning to voice their characters again for the Sailor Moon Eternal Anime Films set to be released on Netflix, June 3:
Kate Higgins (Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury) has yet to announce her confirmation on her return so it's up in the air, cause outside of her dubbing work at Studiopolis I haven't seen her done any new dubbing work at other studios such as Bang Zoom! and VSI LA lately, so we're going to have to wait and see if she returns by June 3.

On the other hand, I'm grateful that Cristina Vee, Amanda C. Miller and Sandy Fox are returning to voice their characters considering the latter two haven't done ANY voiceover work at VSI Los Angeles with Amanda ONLY doing scriptwriting for certain shows dubbed at the studio and she's currently living in Georgia and not LA, while Sandy Fox hasn't done any dubs for VSI until now. As for Cristina Vee, she doesn't work as often at VSI Los Angeles (due to reasons), considering the fact that she was not asked to return to voice Reina Kousaka in the Sound! Euphonium the Movie: Oath's Finale despite wanting to return to voice her character again.

                            • I didn't think Funimation would outsource Number 24 to NYAV seeing that this show has such limited appeal that they could have easily just released it sub-only. But not only did they license it (and not just let Crunchyroll have a show that nobody really cares about as is usually the case for shows like these and maybe get a super bare bones release by Discotek), but they dubbed it and instead of just keeping it in-house and give it the low budget treatment that shows like these typically receive, they hand it off to somebody else. Of course, I'm not sure they ended up paying to get them to dub it, but it begs the question as to what the thinking was with this show's dub.

Charlene Ingram confirmed on Twitter that she briefly came out of her anime retirement to work on this (she was in charge of Viz's anime division when they first got Sailor Moon, but departed before they finished), and she seemed to be a big proponent of keeping the cast consistent, so I'd be very surprised to see many recasts. Also, Kate doesn't use Twitter much, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet.
