Re: Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Dub

Obviously the most important addition here is Chris Smith as the new voice of Bright Noa. I think most others would recognize him as Kittan from Gurren Lagann. More recently, he played Kinnosuke Kuzuhara in Durarara!! ("Don't jack with the cops!" :D ). Of course we all knew that they would bring in a new actor for Bright, I mean they did use Keith Silverstein for Full Frontal rather than Michael Kopsa so it only makes sense they'd use a different VA in this case as well. But will Chris make a good replacement? I do think he's a very talented actor, though I'm not sure how well his voice will match up with the earlier renditions. Of course Mike Sinterniklaas may not even be trying to emulate those previous performances by using Chris, but rather going for an all new take on the character. Well I guess it could all work out, though I just find myself disappointed that Bright's English VA has had to change so often over these many years.

I am also looking forward to the other new characters as well of course. From what I've seen in the trailers (cause I haven't read the novels), this Loni Garvey character seems to be important for vol. 4. I'm a big fan of Karen Strassman so I can't wait to hear how she sounds in this new role.

Looks like more solid casting choices. This is my favorite Gundam dub, so I'm pretty confident that everyone will be great in their roles. It's interesting how much this dub skews to the LA pool. In that list, there are only 3 New Yorkers, and Michael Sinterniklaas acts in LA all the time anyway.

SWEET!!! Oh I am so excited!!!

Edit: Reading the YouTube comments now...god why do I read those YouTube comments? Basically 80% of them are complaints about how Bright's voice isn't the same. *Sigh*, such ignorance.

Oh and Chris sounds just fine to me as the new Bright. I thought he sounded quite good when he was barking out orders in the trailer.

And I can already tell I'm going to looove Karen's performance in this.

My only quibble is really in that last line of the trailer. That "Borrow your power" line didn't seem to have the same impact that I felt after watching the Japanese trailer. I just don't think the wording sounds quite right.

Why can't they understand that change is inevitable? (Especially in the case of Bright's VA)

It's not like Ocean's Bright voice was great anyway. And everyone sounds just fine in this. Pretty damn great, in fact.

Those 6 minutes seemed way too short. Anyway, this episode looks like it will really kick things up a notch. All the new voices that were in this clip sound great.

Was that Sam Riegel in that brief clip of who I assume was supposed to be Kai?

I don't think so, it's fairly similar but I think it is someone else. I swear I've heard that voice somewhere before though. Or maybe I'm completely wrong, I don't know.
