Just when someone mentioned in the #dubreview chat that Chris needs to direct again!

I'm downloading it. Unfortunately, that will take a few hours on my connection, but I should be able to tell who most of the Houston regulars are. My biggest problem may be learning the characters' names early enough.

Well never mind then. Looks like a good cast and I look forward to hearing it, but I'm surprised there are so few named characters and so many additional voices in this episode. I don't think I've ever heard John Kaiser, though.

Looking at his credits, it seems he's a rather "old school" ADV VA, with all of his credits being around 1999-2004. Not sure if I've heard him before, but interesting to see he's back. Elizabeth Bannor seems to be from a while back too (she had an episodic part in Super GALS).

Interesting. I checked his credits too, and I definitely haven't seen any dub he's been in.

                      Re: Night Raid 1931 Dub

You know what's great about a Seraphim dub not being directed by Steven Foster? The Japanese names are actually pronounced correctly! Crazy.

You could say Chris is biased, since he cast his brother as the lead in another one of his dubs, but his performance sure proves that this wasn't the reason at all. If anything, Chris seems to be one of the few directors that likes to bring out Greg's lower range, and to great results. This character's voice isn't that low, but it's not the typical little boy or otherwise high-pitched comedy relief character that he tends to get cast as, and I love hearing that cooler, smoother range of his.

Brittney also gives a bit of a different voice than usual, as this character seems to be a little older and certainly more serious, also making for a deeper voice with a much more serious tone that works really well.

John Gremillion and David Wald didn't stand out that much to me, but they still did a good job.

John Kaiser has a somewhat interesting voice, but I'm not sure I liked his performance that much in this episode.

By the way, Carli Mosier is the narrator. She's also very good.

It's great to have Chris Ayres directing this. It seems like just about every Sentai dub has been directed by Foster. While Foster is great, it is nice to see someone else taking the chair for a dub.

I was already curious about this series, and am even more interested knowing Chris Ayres is directing. I have really enjoyed the dubs he has directed in the past.

I've finally got around to watching the first episode. I admit, it took me towards the end of the episode to get used to Greg as Aoi. It's not that Greg did a horrible job, because he did fine portraying Aoi, but I just felt that his voice didn't fit him. But like I said, I'm used to it now. This is also the first time that I've heard of John Kaiser and I'm still unsure about him. Everyone else, I thought, did a fine job.
