Hooray! It was an insta-buy already, but this makes it so much more convenient since now I can watch it with other people.

While I really can't put my finger on why, exactly, I've become super-excited about this show. Maybe it's the slick, action-y previews. Maybe it's the odd battle system that seems to govern the show's conflicts. Maybe it's Minori Chihara. Well, whatever it is, bring it on! :D

              Very relevant to my interests.

Though it looks like the packaging folks didn't get the memo about the change from "on" to "in" in the English version of the title.

The product description says that Sunrise is involved in the production of the show.
Maybe that would explain (in part) why there's English subs.

                  Grrr...

I'm finding myself almost certain to import this (even though thats completely idiotic for any number of reasons), and now I realize that its spit cour (with possibly even more seasons to come later).

Is my devotion to over-inflated girls in skintight bodysuits really that strong?

There are two possible answers to that question:

                    1) Yes.

                    2) Go back to answer # 1.

Finally figured out what this is. Its the line of Kimi's that was bleeped out in episode 1.

Re: Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon [EngSub]

Figured I'd post a few random comments, after having watched the first two discs.

A/V quality is fine, with no issues of note. The skintight bodysuits look fantastic in HD. There don't appear to be any animation modifications, though Sunrise typically doesn't half-ass their way through production up front and have to "fix" it as a convenient marketing move for the home media release afterward as some other studios do.

The packaging, as I'd already posted some crummy cell phone pictures of in the jpeg thread, is very slick. It's obviously kind of hard to make out in those pictures, but the external slipcase is transparent with art and coloration all over it, so the character images on the internal digipak have extra colors and shadows layered on top of them when the packaging is all put together. Volume 1 comes with the first volume of the new novel series and a character image song CD, while volume 2 comes with a fun art and production notes booklet with amusing content and another character image song CD.

The few bits of the subs I checked seem to indicate that the script is identical to Sentai's quick-and-dirty subtitles for their streaming version. The songs, for one reason or another, are not subtitled, despite there being subs for them as part of the stream. It was interesting to see that the subs are offset in order to avoid obscuring any text such as episode titles. The clean version of episode 1 on the first disc is not subtitled for some reason, despite there being no changes to the runtime.

While the broadcast version had no true next episode previews, instead only having the next episode title on a black screen with a quick visual ripple and sound effect, the Blu-ray version does have next episode previews. As folks certainly noticed, for the episodes where "Pieces" was used as the ED, there were clips from the next episode playing during the second half of the ED sequence underneath the credits. The Blu-ray next episode previews are slightly modified versions of those clip reels, with overlapping bits of dialogue taken from the next episode as audio.

Would you say it's better to import this or wait until it's R1 release by Sentai?

                              Wellll...

Reasons to import from Bandai Visual:
                              - You get awesome and fancy packaging
                              - You get bonus stuff like CDs and booklets and novels
                              - You are guaranteed to get all the on-disc extras (cast talk, commentaries, promos, etc.)
                              - You are guaranteed to get the same or better A/V quality (Sentai's Blu-ray discs may all be HD native, but some of them have also suffered from some minor compression issues, which seems silly, but there you go)
                              - You can have it right now

Reasons to wait for Sentai's U.S. release:
                              - The subtitle script will be revised to eliminate grammar errors, typos, and awkward phrasing
                              - There will be a dub (which may or may not include extremely unnecessary American pop culture references and inappropriately re-written throwaway lines)
                              - The entire series, likely to be released in two parts for $69.98 each, will only cost as much as two of Bandai Visual's single volumes (26 episodes for the same price as four episodes)
