    All volumes are now listed at Amazon Japan (missing DVD reg before). Series confirmed to be 24 episodes.

          If it means anything, the anime designs are fairly faithful to the manga original. While I didn't quite think "derpy" when I first saw the manga…now I can't quite get that idea out of my head

            Yeah, I know, which is kind of what kills me about it, since part of me appreciates the adherence to the source material. But this is a case where I wish there had been a bit more adaptation going on, which I do appreciate when the source material for something doesn't look all that appealing to me. For example, Angel Beats!, where the original character designs look like awkward aliens lurching around, which is happily not the case with the anime adaptation.
