    Re: Fullmetal Alchemist BD-Box

While I suspect the answer is no and if it is then I apologise, but do we know anything else about this release yet? *prods WTK to do his magic lol*

I'm surprised about how little else seems to have been revealed given it comes out in just over a month

Nothing new as far as I know. But I wouldn't be surprised if it takes until the end of this month at the earliest for more details to become available.

I really don't expect much (if any) major details with this release. The next to show up could be the cover / packaging. We could see CM and/or PV. At this point in time, I'm not expecting English subtitles (the chance is very low it especially if AoA doesn't distribute the BD-Box for N. America).

Aniplex are crazy for not putting English support on this, I'm so hype for a set i'm probably not even getting lol. Totally stupid on my part especially since it's only an upscale as well XD

The best was perhaps AoA getting involved. It's not looking good. Aniplex (Japan) is rather unpredictable on which release gets English option. This one is no longer different.

Here are some shots of the Series packaging in the flesh

                    Front
                    Back + Contents
                    Digi Pack 1
                    Digi Pack 2

Looks nice though not overally spectacular given Japanese standards. I'm thinking when Funimation or Aniplex bring this over (pretty confident they will, maybe late 2015/early 2016) they can manage to produce something of a similar standard.

Now I just want to see some screencaps to see if, given this show was produced by the same studio Bones and of a similar vintage, this HD 'upgrade' can at least be on par with the Eureka Seven BD release.

                      Re: Fullmetal Alchemist BD-Box

I've tried finding screenshots or an episode rip but I can't find anything anywhere. I'm curious to see the quality as the reviews on amazon seem rather positive so far. With a couple mentioning image improvement.

Anyone know where to look for screencaps after a blu ray release in Japan?

Well I got some screens and it looks as though the set is on par with the Eureka Seven release imo

Yeah, these look slightly better then my DVD's upsacled via the PS3/4.

Any shots of the movie? Probably look the same as FUNi's I'd guess.

I've said countless times over the course of years that we'd be getting a Japanese BD-Box of all of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood for its 10th anniversary, and it wasn't until recently that I began to doubt that it would materialize with so little time left. I guess they don't care about having as much lead time, though, because lo and behold, here it is, honestly less extravagantly priced than I expected.

I'll wait a bit to see if AoA brings it over. I figured it was a shoe-in until they released their own nice half-series Blu-ray box sets a few months ago, so while I still think it has a decent chance, I can't be as sure anymore. Of course, I just paid the $200 for those as well, already double-dipping after my original Funimation Blu-rays, but I was always prepared to pay over $600 for any fancy re-release of the series, so I'm fine with splitting it between my second and third releases of the series, even if they're only a few months apart. I really would've thought Aniplex would be communicating between Japanese and American sides and have the latter wait for this release.

Anyway, if the American import doesn't surface, I'll wait to see more details on retailer exclusives, since I know everyone has to have something different for Japanese releases. I suppose there's also the chance that Animate sells it on their English site with a bonus item even if AoA doesn't do their usual Right Stuf import, as with the Heaven's Feel movies. If none of that happens, I'll probably end up ordering from Amazon Japan, since I believe they tend to have the best exclusives and are the easiest to deal with.

For a second I thought they were re-releasing the 2003 series and including the OVAs this time, but I forgot Brotherhood was well overdue for a BD-box.
