I.G's Gargantia Blu-rays to Include Original Video Anime

Bandai Visual announced at Anime Contents Expo (ACE) on Saturday that the Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet anime will ship in Blu-ray boxes with original video anime. Each of the boxes will contain four television episodes and one brand-new original video anime, about 24 minutes long. The Japanese home video distributor made these announcements at its ACE booth and in the convention's stage event.

The first set will ship with a CD book with about 100 pages, a storyboard collection, a box illustrated by original character designer Hanaharu Naruko, and other extras on July 26. The third volume's original video anime will feature a guest character voiced by Minori Chihara. A Bandai Visual representative told ANN that three Blu-ray boxes are what the company have announced right now...

1st 2 Gargantia Episodes Offered on 8,000 Blu-rays Before Airing

The official website for the Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet anime announced on Friday that Bandai Visual will give away 8,000 free copies of the first two episodes on Blu-ray Disc at this month's Anime Contents Expo. Bandai Visual's booth will distribute the Blu-ray Discs on March 30 and 31 — one week before its broadcast premiere on April 7. The booth will also give away exclusive face masks (popular during Japan's pollen season) and exclusive pamphlets. An Android live wallpaper app and an iOS wallpaper iOS app will be offered for free "soon."

That seems like a huge amount of discs. I wonder how the cover art for the retail disc will be, if they use a different image.

Amazon Japan has listed BD-Box 2 (9/25) and BD-Box 3 (10/25). Still 16800yen each.

An increasing number of shows in Japan are being released only on Blu-ray for retail sale. It would be less odd if you were perhaps paying closer attention to Japanese releases.

The description for BD-Box 1 on CDJapan said that the OVA episode will be subtitled.

It actually works in my case cause now I have an extra month to save up the funds :D .
