New Beginnings in Familiar Lands.

After a horrific accident put her on life support, the last vestige of freedom Keina Kagami had was in the VRMMORPG World of Leadale. When she wakes up in the body of her game avatar, though, Keina—now Cayna—finds that the worries of her old life appear to be a thing of the past, but somehow this new land doesn't seem to be quite the Leadale she remembers...

Episode 1

This is not the same game as before.

So it begins with Cayna waking up in the game world as she was on life support after getting into an accident that killed her parents on the spot and left her hospitalized barely hanging onto her life. But then there was a blackout that leads to her death, and as such she's now living in the game she played quite a lot when she was alive. Pretty much, this is mostly setup here as Cayna and her buddies are introduced, and she goes visiting the tower to meet somebody she hasn't met for 200 years (and of course the rules of time get bent in the game world), all while Cayna herself is over 300 as elves do live long lives. While it's just another generic isekai show from the outlook, the characters are a great bunch, all while the world of exploration leads to some great intrigue.

Like I always do, this show undergoes the usual trial process and I'll make a decision once I get a better feeling to find out if I want to continue watching this show or not as right now I'm not leaning either way.

Episode 2

Meet the children.

And now, Cayna heads off to the capital after saving a mercenary's life where her children reside. While she did come there to see them, she gets sidetracked seeing that she can't help but to become an adventurer in a place like this. There, she sees her dwarf son Kartatz, and is looking to meet her other children Skargo and Mai-Mai. But before that she's helping a kid known simply as Prima after meeting up with Lonti, and after saving him, she draws quite a lot of unwanted attention to herself. So after a rather underwhelming first episode, this one I enjoyed more as things are starting to settle into a groove. Whether the momentum can build up or not remains to be seen, but at least I was more invested in this episode than the first one that was really rough around the edges.

Episode 3

The end of Leadale as she knew it.

After being sidetracked by the Primo, Cayna ends up meeting her daughter Mai-Mai and son-in-law Polus at the Royal Academy after she was summoned there to give a special lecture. And then she takes on an exorcism quest inside the coliseum where the Primo was tailing her and there she learns that the ghost is actually the guardian of the Silver Tower, where she becomes its new master and learns that as the result of her death, Leadale went offline IRL. That demoralized her into depression, and then Skargo goes rushing in to meet her and gets punched into the ceiling. Quite a lot happened here between Cayna meeting her children, as well as learning the truth about what's going on in this game as that just hit her like a ton of bricks. It will be interesting to see what she does moving forward now that she has met her son and is living in a world that was taken offline.

After a rough first episode, this show is starting to grow on me as this show is settling into a groove, and Cayna has established herself as a likable character that will makes this show so entertaining.

Episode 4

No bandit is gonna stop her.

After that crazy introduction and Cayna's quick recovery from her depression, she's formally introduced to her son. Now that she has seen everybody, she now sets off on a job to be a bodyguard for a caravan as they transport cargo to a neighboring kingdom, but the usual route has been blocked by bandits. So they go around and Cayna's magic makes it possible to simply walk on water, though the last merchant had some difficulty as it isn't monster-proof. As it turns out, the alternative route wasn't much safer seeing that they were waiting to ambush them, but while the would have had their way with most adventurers, it doesn't against Cayna. Great to see Cayna doing some great things again going to show that she's carrying this show.

So with that, the trial period is over and after a meh first episode, this show has improved and I'm really enjoying it. So it's in.

Episode 5

Meet the grandkids.

Now that Cayna has met her children, in fulfilling Mai-Mai's request to deliver a letter to her son, she meets her grandchildren Caerick and Caernia. Those two sure have established a great reputation there as Caerick is an accomplished merchant, while Caerina is leads a squad of knights. Of course, crazy things happen as it has been quite a long time in this world since she met them, and Cayna just blows a fuse there seeing that she's not exactly the type that takes these kinds of things well. While her grandkids are strong, it's still nothing compared to Cayna's as she shows those rock golems who's boss. Not to mention Bisco is not the only person who has a giant crab to ride on.

That time skip is the gift that keeps on giving. As for Cayna, pick a title for her. The choices are Demon Lord, Demon King, Dark King, and Dark Lord. At this point, she's one of those.

Player killers will be punished.

Those golems were summoned by the leader of the bandits, who is a level 432 player, and he's a player killer who can kill whoever he wants with the gamemasters gone. But he's no match against Cayna and just when he was about to kill him, Caerina comes in asking Cayna to detain him, and with a device that reduces his power to 1/10th of his actual strength that he couldn't fight back. Just another typical way to showcase an OP adventurer doing what she does best.

Enjoyable.

I'm just really enjoying this show. It's not great but it has a fun vibe.

Episode 7

Bath in the woods.

Cayna is on her way back to the capital, but before that she goes on her next quest, to hunt bears in the woods, and tagging along are Lonti and her classmate Mye, who happens to be the Primo's sister. And it was a rather laid-back quest for them seeing that they got to take a dip in a bath that Cayna created. While that's going on, the white dragon adventurer Shining Saber meets up with Cohral again as those two adventured together, but got stuck in Leadale. But of course, the situation quickly turns dire when Lopus inadvertently creates a giant monster after disposing of a failed concoction and it starts going on a rampage around town. That was quite an unexpected twist there at the end as things suddenly got serious.

Episode 8

At last, another player.

While that raid boss would normally take a large number of players to defeat, for Cayna it's no problem as once again she makes quick work of monsters who are many times her size. With that monstrosity out of the way, Cayna meets up with Cohral and Shining Saber as the two exchange information about them being former players when the game was online. And with Cayna's expertise, she makes a powerful new sword for Cohral, and in return she gets information regarding the location of another guardian tower. And after that, it's back to home as she decides to live on in the village. Given the way the last episode ended that it was just an anticlimactic way to resolve this problem. In any case, now that Cayna is home that things figure to change up.

Episode 9

What lies beneath.

Here comes the mermaid Mimily, who somehow ends up in the groundwaters beneath the village. It's a good thing Cayna was there as only she could have gone in deep to find her. So after that, Mimily is now living inside the bath house for the time being. Afterwards, it's back to the capital to take part in a joint expedition to smoke out some bandits near a costal village that includes Cohral and Shining, and things don't exactly go as planned. And then Cayna goes to a village surrounded by toxic fog, and this place is infested with zombies. Quite a lot happens here as things just moved way too fast in this episode. Nevertheless, it sets the stage for something interesting to go down. While those zombies are tough, they are still pushovers for somebody like Cayna.

Episode 10

Old faces in new places.

While Cayna makes quick work of the zombies, she runs into two former players in Quolkeh and Exis, and while Quolkeh is a lady, the player is a guy IRL. There, they find Luka, who is the only survivor in the village, and she summons her werecat butler Roxilius to look after her, while Cayna and company eliminate the threat. So with that, Cayna now has met four former players since taking permanent residence in the game, and then she heads to the underwater palace of the dragon king where she's now the master of that guardian tower. So pretty much, this episode Cayna got to meet more people through all this.

Episode 11

Welcome to the family.

Pretty much, this episode is all about introducing Luka to the rest of the family as she's now adopted as Cayna's daughter. And then she gets a wagon from the CEO's wife of this world's version of Amazon. And then Roxilius and Roxine are summoned to serve Cayna at her new household, and then the wagon is converted into a golem where she is introduced to the locals at a remote village. So it's all about getting acquainted with Luka now that she will be put to work after nearly dying in that zombie apocalypse that left her as the only survivor of the town.
