"I'm going to live for myself!"

The greatest assassin on Earth knew only how to live as a tool for his employers—until they stopped letting him live. Reborn by the grace of a goddess into a world of swords and sorcery, he's offered a chance to do things differently this time around, but there's a catch...He has to eliminate a super-powerful hero who will bring about the end of the world unless he is stopped.

Now known as Lugh Tuatha Dé, the master assassin certainly has his hands full, particularly because of all the beautiful girls who constantly surround him. Lugh may have been an incomparable killer, but how will he fare against foes with powerful magic?

    Episode 1

There are some things that can't be trusted.

So it begins with the guy who would later be reincarnated as Lugh taking on an assassination job in America with his partner Mila. He's quite skilled and is a tough mentor to Mila. After completing an assignment, he heads back to Japan, but little did he know that he would be betrayed and while he has great skills as an assassin having been in the business for quite a long time, it's not exactly helpful when he's in the confined space of an airplane, and his organization is betraying him going as far as to kill ordinary civilians in order to take him down. And thus, he his the afterlife where he meets the goddess and has the option of being reborn as just an ordinary person or to keep his skills and memories from the previous life with a catch, and that is to kill the hero of this world. Pretty much, this is all setup leading to the part where he gets isekaied, and so far I'm liking what I am seeing so far. Not to mention, there's the nicely choreographed opening animation that sets the tone for this show quite well. Still, it's what comes next that will be critical moving forward as while it handled the background stuff well, how it handles all the isekai stuff will be absolutely crucial.

As usual, this show is subjected to the trial period rules and whether or not I watch it, I will need to wait and see a bit more before making it final.

Kill the hero before the world becomes zero.

And now, the guy who would be reincarnated as Lugh the assassin is told why he must kill the hero as after that guy kills the demon lord, that guy will use the hero status to leverage it for corrupt purposes, and two years later the world would be no more. But with the objective being to save the world that Lugh is determined to find a way to save it without killing the hero, which of course is easier said than done. So after picking his skills and stuff, it's time to be reborn, and throughout his first seven years of his new life he has been training quite hard, and it's that part where his father examines the muscles of his body where there's a good amount of influence from Redo of Healer, minus the rape and stuff that made that show so controversial of course. And then at the end he is ready for magic training, and being dressed as a girl, he meets Dia, and despite looking like a kid, she's quite a proficient magician. An interesting story is certainly building up here, though it remains to be seen how things build off of it.

        Make the first kill.

And thus, Lugh begins his magic training with Dia, and little did she know that this guy's mana is off the charts, and being compatible with all four elements is practically unheard. He has so much power that he's more worried about creating something to contain it as opposed to making it more powerful, like that cannon that blew that rock into a bazillion pieces. So with Lugh having progressed with his magic training, it's time for him to take the rite of passage as he learns the secrets of the family. And then he makes his first kill, and while Margaret only did things out of the need to survive, she took her act too far and to be an assassin, that means showing no mercy, which Lugh acquired through his previous life's experience that carries over to this world. Pretty amusing stuff with Lugh being another one of those overpowered freakazoids that are commonplace in isekai shows, but the dark nature of this show once again rears its ugly head there at the end.

          Whatever it takes to survive.

Lugh now has his own sidekick as he brings in Tarte into his family to serve as a maid, as well as to be trained as an assassin. She was exiled from a land of extreme corruption and was prepared to freeze to death. But she ran into Lugh and they strike a deal, first with the porridge that she is instructed to eat slowly, and then to train as an assassin under him. And just like with what Lugh's father did to him, Lugh makes Tarte periodically strip so that he can examine her muscles, a scene that shows that this is the same guy who did Redo of Healer given the need for censorship here. After all that training, Tarte proves that she can fight with the spear, but there's just one problem in that the spear is not exactly ideal for an assassin. However, a foldable spear is as that can be hidden. Quite a nice way to introduce Tarte into the fold here as she's somebody who just needs a reason to live seeing that her life had been nothing but miserable until meeting Lugh.

And on that note, the trial period for this show has ended. I'm still deciding on this show, but I'm leaning towards keeping this seeing that this show is better than the average isekai show to say the least.

What does it take to be an assassin?

Before the world's finest assassin was given this task, there was the world's finest samurai given the same mission years ago and failed. Now that Tarte has been training under Lugh for quite some time, Lugh's father is certain she's not a spy. And with that, there's just two more tests left before Lugh is a full-fledged assassin. First up is a sparring match against his father where the objective is not victory, and the true purpose is to see if he can fight back without using his magic, which he passes with flying colors. And thus, the father and son go on assassination missions, one of them to defeat Ronah as he was unfit to be an assassin, but a perfect fit to be a knight. Great to see that Lugh learned so much as he realizes what being an assassin is all about, something only a selected and well-trained few have.

Enjoying this series and episode. I;m curious as to what the sketchy goddess is up to, as we continue to see Lugh is far from the first person she's summoned over decades, raising all sorts of questions. Lugh passes his Dad's final test, and is then sent off train under a merchant ID, Tarte in tow, who's finally achieved trustworthy status, the sheer coinbidence of her appearance raising all manner of suspicions,. But first he easily takes down an older cousin who he displaced, but does so in a way to gain Ronah's loyalty.

                Episode 6

                Her prince has come.

And now, an episode that introduces the last girl of the main cast, Maha. She grew up living on the streets with a bunch of orphaned girls. And then they were given a place to live and food to eat by working for a shady viscount as slave seamstresses. While that kept them alive, Torran was working them to the bone and the girls were being exploited like crazy. It all started when Ifa was forcibly stripped to become a model for the dress the girls made. Then things really reached a boiling point when Noine nearly killed herself. Then everything changed when Lugh arrived, posing as Illig Balor, and once he arrived, the jig was up. He purchased Maha to become part of his family, and their human trafficking operation was exposed. That was quite a dark episode there, and Rui Tsukiyo really made his presence known here as this felt like something out of Redo of Healer, but with the rape being thwarted. Nevertheless, it was great to see Lugh giving those malcontents what they deserved.

                  Cosmetics for cause.

Now that Maha is part of Lugh's growing harem, he is now getting his business as a cosmetics producer off the ground with a moisturizer that will change the industry in this world, and it goes to show just how much of a shrewd man Lugh is. He uses a secret ingredient only found in his homeland to create this special cosmetic, and he anticipated that competitors will want to try and steal his company's secret for themselves. One assassin tried to do that, but he was totally prepared, all while Maha and Tarte have become quite useful as assistants. Great to see business booming there as Lugh will need everything he can get to fulfill his mission. Speaking of which, I get the feeling that the goddess is up to something seeing that 30 years ago she brought in the world's finest MC to do it, who is not exactly the best choice for a job like this.

                    Re: Episode 7

Something came up, and Tarte and Maha are ready to handle it. Eager, even.

So we see Lugh make his way as a merchant, with his "father" and "brother" knowing the truth, but his fake-Dad's wife not knowing who he really is. She hates him. believing Lugh, er, Illig, tpo be her husband's son by a prostitute, but when Lugh produces a moisturizer, that the world has never known, she's honest in her praise of him. Cosmetics for the win, with Illig Balor famous enough tp attract a kidnap attempt from competition.

We get another of those dark moments that remind us how ruthless Lugh & co. are, as Tarte and Maha casually torture the intruder. We also see how he often sleeps, innocently, with Tarte and Maha, that he's hired Maha's "gang" to staff the cosmetics shop, Orna, and that he visits Dia once a month for friendship & magic research. Also that he has a wet dream on the night of his return, with Tarte and Maha, now his adopted sister by the Balor family, quite willing to help him out.

We see sketchy goddess having brought in a world's best MC, 30 years ago, another failure. It's also nice to see how well Tarte & Maho are getting along. I keep watching thus interesting series, wondering how far it will get.

After spending two years in Milteu, Lugh's business is booming, and those girls he saved are now living well running the shop now that Maha is strong enough to protect them. With that, it's back to home where Lugh now back to being himself rather than masquerading as a member of the Balor family where his hair is back to his natural color, and he is called Lugh again. And now, he has his eyes on a bigger prize, and that is to marry his magic instructor Dia, but in order to do that he will need to become an aristocrat given her high status, and thus the second part of the title comes into play. He was first an assassin, then he became a merchant, and now he will need to master being an aristocrat to get what he wants.

                        Assassination knows no feelings.

Now that Lugh is back on the job killing extremely dangerous guys in secrecy, his next target is the count Venkaur, an aristocrat who has been distributing the drug vizein throughout the kingdom that are quite addictive. Lugh gets close to the count disguising himself as Illig, and then learns his habits and stuff, and knowing that he has a glass of wine while admiring the moonlight on his balcony that it provided a perfect opening. Even though it was a job, Lugh still can't help but to feel for the wife even though he did this with no regrets. It will be interesting to see how Lugh builds off of this as this is his first job as a freelance assassin.
