    Episode 1

Her samurai in shining armor is here.

That was sillier than I was expecting it to be, but that's only a small part of this show. Fena can be amusing when she's acting all delusional, but she does realize the situation she is in, and it's not good seeing that women are nothing more than tools, and through an arranged marriage she's engaged to a total creep who already has several other ladies would be way better suitors than Fena will ever be So with the geezers Salman and Otto, Fena is able to get out of the fortress, all while Yukimaru is there to save her just when it looked like she was going to be sent back to that prison-like place. So far, the first episode did its job in setting up the story, and it helps that it has Yuki Kajiura doing the soundtrack to give the show that kind of feel from SAO. Nevertheless, I'm not quite convinced that this show will amount to something great, but it made a solid enough first impression.

And with that, onto the next episode with the premiere featuring two episodes.

      Episode 2

A mystery only she can solve.

After escaping the island, Fena is taken to an island in Japan in the Feudal era where she's presented with a stone whose secrets are something only she can unlock. The citizens of this village are an amusing bunch, and seeing that they were rescued by Fena's late father that they made the most of their second chance at life. And there's the typical runaway princess troupe with Fena cutting her hair going to show that she's on a journey and is doing so as herself and not some princess from a place that doesn't treat her with respect. Pretty amusing cast this show has as those pirates sure are resourceful, especially with that ship. Should be interesting to see how this journey turns out.

        Episode 3

        Bring her back.

The Brits are getting really aggressive in getting Fena back, and they are enlisting the help of a pirate gang to do so led by O'Malley. In the meantime, Fena and the gang are making a stop to resupply, and there they run into a mercenary pirate gang to capture Fena. And then Yukimaru comes in to save the day, but he got hit by a bullet in the process. Lots of nice action there as this is going to be a difficult journey to unlock the mysteries the stone holds.

          Episode 4

          The client was already dead.

As much as Fena would like to be able to defend herself after everything that happened in Bar-Baral with Yukimaru getting grazed by a bullet in the process, she's not exactly suited for fighting. Try as she might, she just has no aptitude whatsoever for handling weapons. So it's off to Germany to learn the origins of the stone Fena got and they learn from Arya's grandfather that the stone's client was none other than Jeanne d'Arc but the date engraved in it is five years after she was burned at stake. So something is not quite right about this, and so the mystery continues as there's the big question about how the stone's client, and it will be interesting to see where they go to try and sort out this contradiction.

            Episode 5

            El Dorado by the numbers.

Things really escalated here as the clues lead them to an underground temple in France. Fena was starting to become a different person altogether as they get to the altar where the stone fits in perfectly where Jeanne d'Arc was laid to rest, and those markings that are invisible to the naked eye? That requires a special light that's only found there and it shows what would be revealed as the coordinates to El Dorado. While they were exploring, O'Malley's crew just so happens to have followed them somehow, and there it is revealed that Fena's bodyguards are called the Goblin Knights and their ancestors aren't exactly heroes. O'Malley threatens to kill Fena if they didn't hand over the coordinates, and after promising to exchange her for the note, she goes back on her word not mentioning that Fena is needed for their scheme. And worse yet, she caves in the place leaving everybody except Tsubaki trapped. That was quite a big blow that was just waiting to happen, and they should have kept a closer watch on Fena. But they were just too distracted by this discovery that someone didn't pay attention to her, and at the very least they wouldn't have hade to deal with a hostage situation and before they realized it, they were in this position. How exactly O'Malley knew where the crew was going, that's something that will need to be explained since it's awfully convenient to just show up like that.

              Episode 6

              What is their mission?

So after everything that happened last time, Fena is now being held captive by Abel, but at least it's better that she's with him than with O'Malley seeing that she roughs her up. While that's happening, the Goblin Knights managed to use some unexploded gunpowder and find an exit through the ceiling. This episode has quite a lot of info dumping here as it turns out that the objective of the Goblin Knights is not to protect Fena, but to use her to find Eden where the Kusanagi sword is apparently hidden. And the crew has been ordered to return to Japan, but Yukimaru decides to go rescue her seeing that she's the key to the treasure. And then there's Abel himself as he is quite knowledgeable about Fena's family, so it will be interesting to see where that goes. Nevertheless, that's quite a lot of info to take in, but it's clear that for everybody to get their eyes on their prize, it goes through Fena.

                Episode 7

                In a sea of fire.

And it's Yukimaru to the rescue, but he does down for the count in helping her. It's a good thing Abel and O'Malley were fighting each other as there's no way a lone Goblin Knight could have gone up against a pirate gang and an imperial army, and Abel uses his secret weapon to blow up O'Malley's ship and kill her crew, and he definitely overdid it. So with that, Fena is back to where she belongs, and despite being used for their own purposes, at least their intents are the least malevolent of them all. Quite a lot happened here, and now Yukimaru is in a dire situation.

                  Episode 8

                  This is not a spell.

After a lot of chaos in the previous episode, this one is pretty chill once Yukimaru reaches a doctor in time to survive those bullets that he took. Shitan gets quite a lot of focus here as he has been told to kill Yukimaru if he was to fall under the spell of a witch, and it turns out that Fena is a witch. However, Fena doesn't realize that, all while the Goblin Knights insist that everything that happened was their will. And then that conversation between Fena and Yukimaru was really something there going to show that they are in it together, and while there's quite a lot they don't know, they are headed to Eden and they will decide what happens once they make it. Quite a lot of explanations here as after everything that just happened, it's a nice breather to take in everything since things figure to get pretty hectic from hereon out.

                    Episode 9

                    Eden awaits.

Here is the calm before the storm as it's all about explaining Abel's background, as well as figuring out where Eden is. Abel had feelings for Helena, but things went south when he finds out that Helena eloped with the king's butler Franz. This affair led her to being burned at stake and before she died, Helena told Abel to go to Eden for a chance to reunite with her if she somehow gets there with Fena. And back with the Goblin Knights, Fena figures out that the clues leading to Eden are found in the lyrics of a secret song seeing that they matched very closely through her travels, but in reverse. And after some deducing, they figure out where they need to go to find Eden. Quite a lot of info dumping here, and seeing that things only figure to really escalate moving forward that it was nice to get everything out there to set the stage for the final streatch of the show as things figure to get hectic once everybody arrives in Eden.

                      Episode 10

                      Aiming for the top.

And now, the show reaches its climax as Fena and the Goblin Knights are at the coordinates where Eden is, and an island appears from underneath the sea. And there awaits a lot of treasure from all over the world. While anybody else would just call it a day and take what they can back, Fena is skeptical about all this seeing that she's not so sure that it was what Franz died for. And then Fena finds the room where the entrance to Eden is located as she dances on the blocks, and then the pillars rise showing the pathway to Eden. Quite a tame episode that was there as it was all exploration, and seeing that the endgame is Eden that there's bound to be a lot of fighting and stuff, and that's coming next time as Abel's crew arrives and are fighting for the gold. It will be interesting to see where this goes, bot in terms of the battle with the Blue Giant crew and with what awaits in Eden.

                        Episode 11

                        Together at last.

There was bound to be chaos once the Blue Giant arrived at the gateway to Eden, and that's exactly what happens here. There's a fight for the treasure between the Goblin Knights and the Blue Giants, though Abel is making sure that greed doesn't blind them. While that's going on, Shitan finds when he believes is the Kusanagi, all while Fena and Yukimaru are in Eden where they learn some pretty startling truths. And then Abel appears with a fight ensuing between Abel and Yukimaru with Abel losing his arm while Yukimaru gets stabbed. But then Helena appears and having met her again that he's gone. After that, Franz appears, or rather somebody impersonating him as he's the one known as the Observer. Things just stopped making sense here, but in any case there's quite a lot of buildup here for the endgame. One more episode left to go.

                          Episode 12 (Finale)

The choice is her's, and her's alone.

And thus, it ends with Fena being faced with a big decision as the newly-appointed Maiden of Choosing, either letting the world continue as is, or pulling off the Noah's Ark and resetting the world, and no matter what she chooses her memories will be wiped clean. In the end, Fena chooses the status quo seeing that she has her friends in mind when making the decision. And with that, the island collapses and Fena is now just an ordinary person with all her memories wiped out. And having been found by Yukimaru, she and the Goblin Knights, now a rich gang having brought back a good amount of treasure with them, retrace their adventure hoping to bring back her memories. Pretty much, no matter what way they decide to end this it wasn't going to be a smooth landing seeing that the previous episode had too much nonsense going on to comprehend. But in any case, it's a solid enough way to wrap things up here going to show that the adventure had been a test to determine her worthiness as the Maiden of Choosing, and he decided with her friends and comrades in mind more than anything, rather than on self-interest that was the main purpose of the test. While it wasn't always on top of its game the show definitely was a thrill to watch.

Overall, this show has the production values and it starts off on the right foot as the animation and soundtrack are amazing, while the drama and adventure aspects are nicely done, all while action is effectively utilized. That said, the show is held back by two major flaws. The first is that the story writing takes a good amount of conveniences, and the second is that the ending just didn't really connect the way it should. Nevertheless, it was nice to watch for all the adventures and plot twists that were nicely thought out.
