The daughters of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha set out on a journey transcending time!

In Feudal Japan, Half-Demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi's brother, Souta, and his family.

Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a Demon Slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa's shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister.

Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.

    Episode 1

    Take a seat.

It has been a long time since the Final Act, and pretty much this episode connects the current timeline to what happened since the end of the Final Act as even though Naraku and Shikon jewel are gone for good, the evil is not. A tree demon didn't get that message and still thinks that Kagome has it, but that was no match for Inuyasha and company as they are back in action once again. So pretty much it's setup and connecting the story before getting to the real one as Towa, having been presented with a torn-up bike seat, is ready to go back across the well to the present. It's Inuyasha as I remember it, though it has a much different feel to it going forward since it's their daughters who are now doing all the fighting.

      Episode 2

      Back to the future.

So after the first episode bridged the gap between the end of the Final Act and this series, this episode formally introduces the three girl leads with Towa being the MC. She was raised in the present after a portal opened up and got separated from Setsuna in the middle of a blazing inferno. There, she would be raised by a grown-up Sota, and with her freakish abilities no street punk stood a chance against her in a fight. Of course, it's these fights that keep getting her into trouble as she hasn't exactly been a cooperative student. And then Moroha and Setsuna meet up as Setsuna was trained by the demon slayers, while Moroha was trained to inherit Kagome's spiritual powers. Instead of the Shikon Jewel that was purged, there are three pearls that the demons seek, and one of them is a centipede yokai that Moroha and Setsuna were fighting. But they all get thrown into the present as that centipede's skin is so tough that swords and other conventional weapons don't work on it. Things happened pretty quickly there, but nevertheless it's good to know more about the three leads now that the connection has been established.

        Episode 3

        Find your sword.

And the three girls are all in the present to fight the centipede demon, whose skin is so tough that it breaks Towa's sword. But Towa's own power provides it a blade that's much tougher than the one she broke. Even though the demon was slain, she's still wreaking havoc possessing Towa, and then possessing Mei, but little did she know that people of the present are much weaker. So with the demon gone, Moroha and Setsuna are getting to know Sota's family. Whenever Feudal Era characters show up in the present, things always get crazy.

Half-demon girls? Check. Time travel? Check. Cross-dressing? Check. Cursed hot springs? Aw, c'mon, man, no cursed hotsprings!!?

Rumiko is back. We have 3 girls, cross-dressing Towa ('cuz it's easier to fight in such clothes), Setsuna, demon-numter, and Moroha, the bounty hunter. Towa and Setsuna are twin sisters, separated by a forest fire and a time travel incident that brought Towa to the future, separating her from her younger twin, Setsuna. Both are half-demons: Towa ends up with Kagome's frown-up younger brother, while Setsuna ends up with Sango's demon hunter clan, led by her grownup younger brother, Kohaku. Moroha is a crude girl wearing red and a bounty hunter who has a strong resemblance to Kagome and acts crudely like Inuyasha (and since the promo materials all say she's their daughter, that explains things; however, 3 episodes in, this has been only hinted at, not expressly stated).

We start off with a noble holding Towa captive, while his aide tells a story regarding an artifact that was found, Kagome's bicycle seat. Ep 1. then tells the story catching up on some of our group: We see that Sango and Miroku are married with twin girls and an infant son, with Kagome and Inuyasha also married, with Kagome very much in miko-mode. Inuyasha and Miroku end up battling a demon who had been sealed away by Kikyo prior to her death, with the demon now seeking out the Shikon Jewel, unaware that it's been purified and is gone.

Sesshomaru makes an appearance, protecting the home where Sango is with Kagome Rin (the child he took care of as a whim) and the kids, which frees up Kagome and Sango to join the fight.

Victory! Except small bits of the demon meld with the Tree of Ages.

Towa is rescued by Setsuna and Moroha, the aide is revealed as a demon who escapes, and Towa takes off with her companions, along with the 20th/21st century artifacts the noble had found.

Episode 2 tells Towa's story: She and her twin, Setsuna lived a happy life in a forest, until one day a forest fire took place. Running to escape the flames, Towa let go of Setsuna's hand, separating them, and while trying to find Setsuna, Towa is whisked to the present day (10 years ago) where she's found by Sota on the grounds of the family-run shrine. He adopts her, and has a young daughter, Mei, of his own (we meet his wife Moe) in ep. 3.

Towa is always getting in fights, so she wears boy's clothes because it's easier to fight in. Her regular run-ins with a gang take a turn for the worse when they kidnap her young sister, Mei, and her grandmother and great-grandfather (all adoptive relations), a situation which she's able to take care of due to her half-demon strength, which she unleashes for the first time.

Meanwhile in feudal Japan, bounty hunter Moroha is waiting to slay a demon bothering a village, but runs into a group of demon-hunters, led by Kohaku along with Setsuna (with Kirara!), who mistake her for the demon. But it's Lady Centipede, who detects and steals the Red Rainbow Pearl that Moroha keeps in a seashell, and the Gold Rainbow Pearl that is sealed in Setsuna's eye. The Tree of Ages detects this, gets triggered and sends the 3 battlers to the present, where Towa uses her national treasure sword to attacked Lady Centipede, only for the katana to break.

Ep. 3 has Moroha declare the sword to be a fake, a desperate Towa triggering a demon sword from the broken blade which badly injures Lady Centipede who heads straight for Mei, grandma and great-granddad, only for Setsuna to save the day.

The Pearls return to their original possessors. Moroha realizes that Setsuna is a daughter of Sesshomaru, but Setsuna has no memory of any sister, totally not recognizing Towa. We see that Towa possesses the Silver Rainbow Pearl in her eye. And the root demon from ep. 1, or small part thereof, attacks and possesses Towa. Setsuna, enraged that some stranger would claim to be her twin, had been attacking Towa, with the possessed Towa giving her full abilities to now attack Setsuna.

Things take a turn when the demon decides to leave Towa and possess Mei. Mistake. Mei has no powers, and while Towa tries to persuade Mei to free herself of the demon, Setsuna uses magic to put the Hgurashi family to sleep, and then uses demon hunter medicine to drive the demon out of Mei, killing it.

Back at Sota's apartment, Sota, his wife, Moe, who is Towa's adoptive mother, and Mei are discussing things, when in comes a happy, nude Moroha who totally approves of being able to take a hot water bath (Moe covers her husband's eyes).

Here we get the revelation that Sota's mom thinks that Moroha might be Kagome's daughter. So as to what to do with the 2 new girls? Well, Moe says that since their relatives, there's no problem with them staying.

Back in Towa's room, she's crashed out on her bunk bed, while Moroha probes Setsuna, deducing that Setsuna never sleeps, because she was cursed by a Dream Butterfly, which ate her dreams, her childhood memories and now causes her to be unable to sleep. Towa is shocked by this, and gets out of her bed (she'd been listening for a while, when the episode ends.

So, we begin again, complete with Lady Centipede making a comeback. We get a nice snapshot of Kagome living married life in the Feudal era, and then flash forward, with no word yet on how she and Inuyaha have a daughter, and a wild one at that, clearly indicating that Kagome has not been involved with raising this girl in a long time.

Ditto no word yet on who the mother of Towa and Setsuna might be.

We do learn that the Boneaters Well, which Kagome used to time travel, was made from wood from the Tree of Ages.

Right now it has that early Rumiko Takahasi vibe where the episodes just run together in a string of strong connectivity. Whether we run into the almost inevitable Takahashi filler episodes with monster/villain of the week...we'll see.

But so far, so good. If you're a fan of Inuyasha or Rumiko Takahashi, watch by all means.

            Episode 4

            Blast to the past.

After spending some time in the present, the girls decide that the past is where they belong and they need to capture the Dream Butterfly. But standing in their way is Root Head in the Tree of Ages, whose spirit that takes the form of Kikyo. So the tree negotiates with the girls asking them to slay Kirinmaru due to Sesshomaru renouncing his title that allows him to twist time and reduce everything to nothing. In order to do this, that requires them to kill Sesshomaru at the same time. Of course, seeing that Sesshomaru is the father of these girls that they never met that of course the girls would reject that offer and they end up defeating Root Head instead. Unfortunately for them, they realized that there's now no way back to the present. And then there's Rin, who is in a coma and needs Sesshomaru to awaken her. This goes to show that Sesshomaru isn't exactly the most logical of thinkers, but something is certainly amiss about the situation as it looks like Kirinmaru is about to pick up where Naraku left off, minus the Shikon jewel.

              Episode 5

              No bones about it.

It's back to the Feudal Era, and these girls are going to be there for awhile now that the demon powering it has been slain. So these girls go demon slaying, and the first is Jakotsumaru, who attacks humans and collects their bones hoping to revive his father Tokotsu after Moroha had slain him and took the red pearl from him. Myoga is back, and the geezer flea hasn't changed one bit. Moroha showed that she's very much like her mother there, but in the end this bounty was all for naught with everything disappearing without a trace. So at this juncture, it figures to be a demon of the week kind of deal seeing that the original series was kind of that way at the beginning, but secrets and other stuff slowly get revealed, so it will be interesting to see what all of that is going to be about.

                Episode 6

Letting the ghost cat out of the bag.

Another week, another demon to slay as this time, the monster in question is a ghost cat hidden in a temple that has been unleashed from its seal inside the temple. It turns out that the real ghost cat has been possessing Juan, all while it is using the bones of the humans it has eaten to bring about that powerful monster. Setsuna was all too eager to kill Juan, but Towa stepped in and found a way to defeat the ghost cat while saving Juan. That goes to show how devious the demons are in this show and while it worked out this time, Towa will have to realize that her naivety is bound to get her killed someday as growing up as a demon exterminator, Setsuna is well aware of the dangers demons can bring on.

                  Putting the demon on ice.

So after a couple of episodes featuring a random demon being slain, things are starting to pick up towards the main story leading the girls towards Kirinmaru, who is poised to pick up where Naraku left off, while there are the Rainbow Pearls that function much like the Shikon jewel. Towa meets Riku and is presented with the real Kikujumonji, which Riku swiped, and seeing how easy it was to get her hands on it that there was bound to be a catch, and indeed there is with Towa being mistakenly arrested for stealing it. And then there's Fubuki the ice demon that serves under Kyuki, and they make quick work of it once they realize that they were not hitting the true body. Intrigue certainly continues to build as more demons are in need of exorcism.

                    Memories bring back.

Lots of backstories here as everybody except Setsuna takes a snooze here thanks to Kyuki, and in their dreams those girls find out just what happened in the past that led them to growing up the way they did. For Moroha, Kagome gave her away to Hachiemon, while Takechiyo was given to Jyubei by Miroku, which were done in order to protect them. While sleep spells are quite effective, they are useless against Setsuna. And then there's Riku who is certainly up to something, though it remains to be seen just what that is.

I've watched about 10 episodes. Over all it's decent, but it's already reaching the point of each episode feeling like just another episode. I haven't even bothered with 11.

That said I do like Moroha as a character. Towa is fine. Setsuna? Wake me up when her character gets better.

                        Ghost in the shell.

Next baddie up is Konton, one of the four Perils who has a huge bounty on his head that Moroha can't possibly refuse. The girls can't seem to land a hit on Konton, and that's because his armor is quite strong, which came from a turtle demon and it used to be Meifuku's father before Konton killed him and took that shell for his own. But after realizing how the armor works as Konton actually drains its energy rather than use the shell's hardness to protect him, diluting the energy is just what Towa needed to do to defeat him. And thus, Meifuku's father can rest in piece, but Konton remains at large, and as such no bounty, again. That kid went through quite a lot, and even if they didn't get their money, at least they gave a kid some peace of mind.

The next demon are twin brothers Kinka and Ginka, who share the same body and are fighting to see who is more worthy of inhabiting the whole body. But the in-fighting stops when the two spot the Rainbow Pearls that they are out to claim for themselves. And while they got the pearls to present to their boss Joka, their leader betrays them as all she is after is to get revenge on Sesshomaru. Seeing that the girls sympathize with those two, the end up joining forces to take Joka down, but the brothers end up biting the dust. Quite an emotional moment there when the brothers were dying, but at least they don't have to fight anymore as it had to be difficult there inhabiting one body.

                            Episode 11

                            This pond is alive.

The demon of the week this time is a pond. Apparently, there's a pond that eats living beings, and that's because there are two serpent demons that are murking up the waters and eating whatever lifeform comes its way, whether it be human, demon, or animal, for lunch. Two kids in Hikomaru and Chiyo want to purge it as revenge for losing their parents, but of course they are not exactly strong enough to take them on and it's a good thing they came across those three girls to carry it out. So to defeat the dual serpents, they used herbs, and with that the pond is purified. As it turns out, the father of those kids was quite an accomplished biwa player, and they really longed to hear it, but they will just have to settle for the violin as while it's not quite the biwa, it's close enough. That was a pretty lame demon they took out, and it goes to show that there are different kinds of poisons out there realizing that Setsuna isn't resistant to all of them.

                              Episode 12

                              Fade to black.

Just like with Inuyasha, the half-demon Towa becomes a full human with black hair during the new moon, and as such she's deprived of her strength during that time. Next demon up is Nikosen, who was sent by Konton as he tries again to have the Rainbow Pearls swiped from the girls. With Towa in a weakened state, she hides out in a cave waiting for the sunrise and learning just what is happening, and after the sun rises, her power returns, and she makes quick work of Nikosen. As it turns out, while Setsuna is also a half-demon, she doesn't experience that night of weakness because her memories were swiped. So while Towa and company managed to survive the night, the enemy realizes that they have a huge Achilles heel that they are waiting to expose, and it will be interesting to see things turn out.
