    Episode 12 (Finale)

There will be days like this.

So it ends with the individual tournament, and while Hikari has performed well under gametime conditions, she chokes this time around scoring well below her norm even in practice. Overall, Chidori didn't do very well as Erika was the only one from Chidori who made the it to the second phase all while Maho takes the grand prize having been trained by her father that's a member of the JSDF. So it ends on a whimper, but at least it goes to show that there will be good days and there will be bad days as the girls take in some quality experience from this trip to Hiroshima.

Overall, this show is made for those who love cute girls doing cute things shows, but it doesn't offer much beyond its intended audience. The characters, artwork, and soundtrack are the highlights of this show as those things are what make this show watchable. As for the problems this show has, the biggest one is the plot and pacing as it just rushes through things and moves way too fast leaving a lot that should have been elaborated on without much depth to it. Also, this show just has way too many sidetracks and jokes tend to be repetitive to the point where it feels like nothing is going to change. So to sum things up, it's only worthwhile for those who live for these kinds of shows.

    She got her game on.

Hikari is up, and she's up against Maho of the lead dog Hozumi, and she puts up quite a performance there. While she did great, Maho one-upped her for the win, so Hozumi wins while Chidori finishes in second for the team tournament. It's a shame they didn't win and they would have if Erika was at least her average self rather than letting emotions throw off her game. Nevertheless, it's a cause for celebration as it's a bath, and then fireworks before entering into the individual tournament. Not to mention, she befriended that macho girl who won it for Hozumi.

One more episode left to go, but thanks to the show's late start and unexpected production delays it's not going to finish up until Jan. 18. This is another show that should have been part of next season rather than this as the fall has way too many shows already as is.

    Emotion is half the battle.

After Yukio was lights out giving Chidori the lead after the first round, Erika squanders it in the next round as she was unusually off her game. She was thinking too hard about being someone not exactly befitting of her. Hikari said it best when she said that her mental state needs to be in the right place, and by buying that expensive shooting coat Hikari has one less thing to worry about. Next up it's Hikari's turn as she will need to tap into her competition mode even more if Chidori has a chance of winning.

    She shoots, she scores.

It's time for the Nationals, and the Chidori girls meet the elite shooters from school all across Japan. The most notable competitor is Serena, who is just so focused and has a great feel for the rifle. Yukio really sets the girls up to take the competition after shooting a score that would have easily been the best from last year's competition. So it's game on as the girls need to fire on all cylinders and that's assuming that Hikari steps up her game in the heat of competition.

    Hiroshima bound.

The girls are getting ready to make the trip to Hiroshima, and they are doing a lot of conditioning seeing that the girls are going to be shooting out in the woods rather than at an inside range. And then they meet their competitors on the way to Hiroshima, and getting to know the girls from Asaka better at the inn. They go out stargazing, and Izumi is having a hard time sleeping. Pretty much, this is all about getting to Hiroshima and getting ready as those girls will need to be at the top of their games.

So the ships are Yukio X Erika, Izumi X Hikari, and "Sensei x Harem". The last one according to their advisor.

    Rapid fire studying.

While the club made it to the Nationals, unfortunately Hikari has a bigger problem on her hand as she's struggling with academics and with the exam coming up, she's have to cram. It didn't help that the teacher didn't get the message out until two days before the test, but after pulling an all-nighter, Hikari passes. So it's onto the nationals as these girls sure are a lively bunch as their advisor puts it.

    On-target for the nationals.

Hikari shot lights out, while Yukio got the top score. Next up is Izumi, and she struggles making Hikari freak out, but she just needs to relax as Chidori will make it to the nationals if Erika posts a top score. And that's exactly what she does finishing in fifth (and third among beam rifle shooters), while Hikari finishes with a slightly lower score than Erika giving Chidori the top score in the qualifier. So with that, it's onto Hiroshima, but before that there's exams as Hikari has been slacking with her studies. That was pretty good there with the action, as well as the focus some of the competitors got.

    In the heat of competition.

It's time for the qualifier, and the excitement happens even before the girls get to the competition as the advisor is driving for the first time since getting her license. And then it's onto the competition as Hikari is up first. She's shooting lights out initially, but towards the end she starts to tire out. However, she gets better towards the end to make the cut. That was some nice action there as Hikari shows that she can step up her game when she needs to.

I approve of Sensei and I like the fact for once the advisor approached them rather than being forced into it.

    Advice for the advisor.

The girls spend Sunday in different ways from Hikari just wanting to take a snooze to Yukio taking an unexpected trip to the sea after chasing a cat and ending up taking a ride on the express train. So it's back to school where the girls are practicing hard for the qualifier, but there's just one problem. The girls need a teacher to be their advisor, and there just so happens to be one available who is new to the school in Tsurumaki-sensei. It turns out she needs to be helped out seeing that her place is a mess, but she's great for the club. Pretty nice way to introduce the advisor as she's right at home with the club even though she's not up to speed about rifle shooting.

    Firing up the competition.

Not long after the club got started, the girls are already having a practice match against the powerhouse Asaka Academy RSC, who was last year's runner-up in the Nationals. The reason this was possible is because it just so happens that Erika and the club president Akira are cousins. As expected, Yukio and Erika do well seeing that they are always among the top competitors, while Hikari and Izumi struggle. Though Hikari was way off-target with her practice shots, there's something about her game that always seems to improve quite a lot when it's for real. Even so she still needs to work on her game if she's going to stand a chance against a powerhouse like Asaka. Those Asaka girls are quite an interesting bunch as there's Erika and Akira being family, all while Hikari and Karen become friends seeing that they are both just getting started.

    Shooting blanks.

Hikari shows that she has been living under a rock, and it's just hard to believe that she got into this school. From not knowing the difference between hardball and softball, to not using the correct baseball glove, to not realizing that any suit more rigid than what they have is illegal, she's got quite a lot to learn. And the fact that she bombed her midterm exams is quite telling. But even so, she's determined to become a top-notch shooter. They are going to need a lot of practice, but at least Hikari has the motivation.

Izumi and Hikari sure are flirty with each other. Also, Yukio and Erika give me Eva vibes for obvious reasons. More so Erika though. As the episode progressed, Hikari's liking (or as my mind likes to read her lust) for Erika seemed to grow by the scene. Now I'm conflicted on how to ship things.

In any case, Erika is best girl that's the main conclusion I've drawn.

    Fire up the club.

So it begins with Hikari excited about starting life at Chidori High School wanting to go there specifically to join the rifle shooting club. Just one problem in that the club has just been disbanded and Hikari needs to quickly find new members to keep the club going. But luckily she found enough members to join as her friend Izumi is on board, as well as two sharpshooters who Hikari knows from the most recent competition in Erika and Yukio. And then with the club a go, they explain about how these rifles don't fire live ammo, but flashes, as well as those shooting suits that allow the shooters to stay upright. Pretty solid start there as the girls established themselves as great girls, all while the premise is an interesting one.

As usual, trial period rules apply. This was one of the shows that piqued my interest, so I'm feeling pretty good about this show's chances.
