    私、能力は平均値でって言ったよね!

An isekai where an honors student is killed and reincarnated into another world wanting nothing more than to be an Average Jane. Problem is that average in that world is based of a heavily skewed distribution thanks to the elder dragon being an extreme outlier, thus making her much more powerful than the average human.

    Airs: Monday, October 7, 2019

When the eldest daughter of the Ascham household, Adele, turned ten, she remembered everything from her past life when she was hit with a strong headache. She was Kurihara Misato in her previous life, who died when she was 18 trying to help a little girl, consequently followed by an encounter with God. During their meeting, she pleaded to lead an average life with average skills. After all, her somewhat capable self has been burdened with all the expectations brought up to her. However, things don't just go quite as planned as she has to be careful not upping to the S-ranks accidentally if she wishes to maintain her desired average life.

    Episode 1

This is what it means to be average?

So it begins with Mile about to start her new life, but arriving sometime before school begins. She explores the town and meets her roommates-to-be in Mavis, Reina, and Pauline, Then the innkeeper's daughter goes missing and she meets them again and it turns out she wasn't in any danger. And finally, they end up as roommates at school. The explanation for how Mile got isekaied is pretty hilarious there, as well as how her request to be average ends up her being overpowered. If she had understood statistics (which she would be more than capable of in her previous life, but it looks like she didn't take any statistics courses while she was alive), she should have asked to be the median seeing that the elder dragon is an extreme outlier in this world that pulls up the average way up. Anyway, this figures to be one of those cute shows as Mile's expressions are priceless. But seeing how it's animated by a studio with a bad reputation that I'm keeping my expectations in check.

As usual, the trial period rules are in effect, and once I see how it shakes out compared to other shows this season, I'll make my decision.

      Episode 2

It ain't easy to be average.

Mile got herself into quite a bad situation as she wants to present herself as an average girl, but she's letting the heat of the moment get to her. From punishing that guy for calling her flat-chested to repairing the sword Mavis broke and turning it into a legendary weapon, as well as using all sorts of magic, Mile does realize truth will get out sooner or later, and that whole secret family technique angle won't exactly cut it for much longer. At the very least, she helped everybody complete the quest with flying colors. Pretty hilarious this show is, and Mile acting on the defensive is a sight to behold.

        Re: Episode 2

I am liking this show so far. In addition to the comedy, it has a sweetness to it as the girls interact and get to know each other. Mile overused the "secret family technique" excuse, but I found that funny as well since the other girls are obviously way past believing. It will be interesting to see how far Mile can go to be average while actually showing her power. One thing I really appreciated was the show going out of its way to demonstrate it was not just Mile saving the day every time. The improvement of the other girl's abilities is shown. Yes, it is thanks to Mile's training, but it is a detail I really like in a show that could otherwise just be a fluff piece.

Reina is best girl even in this version. Mile is bad at lying. At least she's not (above) average in that. I'm going to spend a lot of time being like "please adapt that part" even if in some cases such a part wouldn't be adapted until season 3 or higher.

Also Mile training the others so they'll be better and she won't stand out as much is a good idea and has fun results.

            A fun show.

I enjoyed the first episode, and the second is also a heckuva lot of fun, from 4th Wall breaking, to pop culture references. We have the story of a girl who was incredibly gifted, but whose gifts caused her (she blames) to have no fun, normal life. So, after dying heroically, she's reincarnated, with her asking the friendly deity to just make her average...which was taken literally, meaning that she's the average between the weakest and the strongest on the planet...resulting in her having about half the power of the super-ultra powerful dragon, the most powerful being on the planet.

OPed, but she don't want it! LOL!

All our girl wants is to have a normal life, having fun with friends. Result, lots of comedy, and after 2 episodes, it doesn't seem that the well is close to running dry.

This was fun and I'm hooked.

              Episode 3

              They are now celebrities.

The girls have graduated after a six month stay, and with their school facing closure, Mile and company are having a match against another team led by none other than the kidnapper from the first episode, who just so happens to be an influential noble While winning is the easy part, doing so in a manner that keeps their overpowered abilities in check is another thing entirely. And once again, Mile totally loses it when somebody makes a point about her flat chest, and it's a good thing she turned that into fireworks before somebody got hurt. Once again, it's funny stuff as now Mile is bringing the otaku culture from her previous life over as those four have become celebrities, all while those wooden Nendos are selling like hot cakes.

                Episode 4

Putting the freeze on being broke.

Crimson Vow needs money, so they stay at a cheap in to begin their life as hunters, and they get a job to bring back a rock lizard with the client trying to trick them out of not receiving the promised rate. And then the girls change clothes, all while they are protecting a cargo wagon from bandits, for which one of them has a rock golem mecha. Even thought that thing is stronger than a normal golem, it crumbles when it's frozen too quickly. Pretty funny stuff once again as Mile's otakuness from her previous life comes full circle.

So with that, the trial period is over, and I already made the decision that this show is in, so into the watchlist it goes.

                  Re: Episode 4

Could they at least vary the "Family technique" line a bit? Also a family that has that many techniques isn't average.

So we're getting into Reina stuff, will be interesting to see how they handle this.

                  Pauline continues to be amazing.

                    Episode 5

                    Something's been troubling them.

What Reina said last time meant that this was going to be a serious episode. And by that, the girls explain how their paths in life and that they all ruffled some feathers, though to varying degrees. Reina killed a bunch of bandits after her father was killed by them, but with the merchant making a deal that is what set her off. Then there's Pauline who was in a great family situation, that is until her father was murdered and instead of inheriting his fortune, it ended up with some greedy bastard who I'm quite sure orchestrated it. As for Mavis, she simply wanted to become a knight, but her family wouldn't let that happen. Then there's Mile, who was previously known as Adele living in a family that looked down on her. So she decided to try and make a name for herself, and that's when she discovered that she's not the Average Jane she was hoping to be. But she made friends at the academy and all seemed well until she inadvertently showed off her OP-ness in protecting that boy. And she realized that she had to get out and that's why she ended up becoming a hunter. Pretty interesting backstories there, though Mile's should have gotten an entire episode seeing that a half-episode just doesn't explain it all given how comprehensive it is in the manga. Now that these backstories have been told, it will be interesting to see where all this goes.

                      Episode 6

Not the time for a class trip.

With bandit attacks becoming quite a problem that the girls make a trip to Amroth, a trade down between the Albarn Empire and the Kingdom of Tils where they bring Anne home to meet up with his grandfather. This has led to goods becoming too expensive and not really an ideal setting for this class trip Mile was hoping for. And as soon as word gets out that the bandits strike again, Reina goes out on her own and try and take them on herself, but after some trouble her friends come back her out. It turns out that these "bandits" are really soldiers looking to stick it to the kingdom by disrupting their supply line. Of course, as strong as they are, they soon realize that they are just no match for this quartet. And Anne's grandfather took a good time to take a whiz as he's the only guy to return alive, so at least Anne will have her grandfather to live with when it looked like he was dead.

                        Episode 7

Vacationing is no day at the beach.

The girls need some time to relax after going on quest after quest, and once again tapping into her former life in Japan, Mile decides to have a day at the beach with her friends, complete with the same kind of swimwear she's used to wearing. Turns out that was a bad idea as she failed to realize that those kinds of outfits are totally unheard of, and not to mention people are far more sensitive to skin exposure. So their day is ruined, and to add insult to injury, Pauline goes missing. While it is another one of those swimsuit episodes, the girls weren't wearing them for very long. In the meantime, there's something about Pauline that will get explained next time, and it will be interesting to see what that's all about.

                          Episode 8

                          They mean business.

So Pauline ends up back with her family as that no-good shady businessman is out to make Pauline a tool to line his own pockets by having her marry into another family. And of course, Mile, Mavis, and Reina wouldn't let that happen as they put on masks and try to get her out of there, but those were some poorly-made disguises. In the end, Mavis' father came out and decided to have things settled through a duel between Pauline and the clerk, though he knew right away that this guy was guilty all along and he knew that Pauline would beat the living daylights out of those two. So Pauline is back, all while Mavis lets her father know that she's committed to becoming a knight, and she's quite sure about that to make her father realize that he just can't stop her from becoming what she wants to be. Those girls sure did make their presence known.

                            Episode 9

                            How to catch a wyvern.

The girls are in need of some quick cash as their job working as waitresses just doesn't pay very well. So they take on a quest to capture a wyvern, and while they are more than strong enough to take it down, that wyvern is such a coward who will keep his distance and remembers the faces of those he sees. So in trying to defeat it, launching Pauline inside a block of ice ends up grounding it, and as it turns out that wyvern is the pet of a royal mage. Not exactly what the girls were expecting, but they'll take it seeing that they get a nice payout from the mage and they didn't have to slay that beast, and with that they use it to build a Japanese-style bath. Pretty silly episode that was, but nevertheless Mile is able to realize her dream of having a fancy bath that she misses back in Japan.

                              Surprise gone bad.

It's Lenny's birthday, and it also marks the one year anniversary of the Crimson Vow. Reina decides to give a present to Mile, but perhaps they could have done it in a much better way seeing that Mile is so quick to jump to conclusions. And of course, the dreaded flat chest complex strikes again. All Mile wanted was just an accessory from the gift shop and all of that battling and stuff was unnecessary. Pretty funny stuff once again going to show that Mile lets emotion get the best of her seeing that she doesn't want to lose her friends.
