The girls in a high school literature club do a little icebreaker to get to know each other: answering the question, "What's one thing you want to do before you die?" One of the girls blurts out, "Sex." Little do they know, the whirlwind unleashed by that word pushes each of these girls, with different backgrounds and personalities, onto their own clumsy, funny, painful, and emotional paths toward adulthood.

    Episode 1

    Got sex?

The warning signs were up there that things would get downright sexual, from Izumi going nude and Kazusa responding to the question of what she wants to do before she dies with sex. And then things really boil over when Kazusa sees Izumi watching something highly ecchi with his pants down causing her to run out. This is something Mari Okada would write as her shows involve a lot of psychological warfare, and that's what is happening here as these girls find out just how rough growing up into adulthood is.

So with that, trial period rules apply as usual. While this show has some interesting vibes to it, I'm not really feeling it right now. As always, I'm giving it a few episodes for it to form a proper impression.

      Re: Episode 1

Next door childhood friend is a train nut, and despite being dreamy, he's pure. After all, no Japanese man who likes trains could be possibly interested in sex, right?

      Japanese man.
      Trains.
      Sex.

      Uh-oh....

And so, like that sex enters the world of Kazusa and friends.

We'll see how this goes, but these girls really are sheltered, considering how the internet is these days.

        Sex by the letters.

What a creative way that was to say something to imply sex without saying the word by taking the letters. Using it as an anagram was a good attempt, but not exactly the most intuitive thing to do. Taking the letters, but replacing the X with battsu (which also means X for when something is wrong), that was totally genius. Of course, things aren't exactly all well and good when the faculty shows up letting the girls know that this club needs an advisor, and seeing that this "literature club" isn't doing anything literary that any teacher would want to be their advisor, that spells trouble for this club.

          Episode 3

          All aboard the sex train.

The club needs an advisor, but nobody wants to touch this club with a ten-foot pole. But Hongo just so happened to stumble upon Milo-sensei, who has a secret that Hongo knows about and uses that to blackmail him into becoming their club advisor, so the club is up and running much to the chagrin of the entire school. While that's happening, Kazusa happens to know something about Izumi as he loves trains, and porn, and as such he has a BD of a show with both that Kazusa happened to take. Things sure are going overboard now with everything that's transpiring.

            Episode 4

            Hit the books.

Now that the club stays, at least they are now doing what a literary club is supposed to do even if it's all about sexual stuff. Sonezaki is losing the nerdy look as she's letting her hair down, and some boy has some great things to say about it. And then that ending where Kazusa freaks out when she sees Suguwara on the train with Izumi, things are bound to get ugly. The pieces are starting to come together here as the girls are seeing the dark side of sexual relationships.

So with that, the trial period is over, and after a rough start, this show is starting to settle in nicely and Mari Okada's impact is starting to get felt, so this show is in.

              Episode 5

              Won't be forever young.

This episode explains Sugawara's situation as she's a stage performer who was chosen by Saegusa, but she had a falling out with the director when it turns out that he's a pedophile and sees her as just a girl he can't get enough of in her youth. And then there's Shun celebrating like an idiot when Sonezaki wrote on the draft of his report wanting to go out. Pretty much, everybody is having growing pains, and that director sure doesn't have his head on straight.

                Into the woods.

The culture festival is coming, and the Lit Club decides to come up with an urban legend for that. As such, they take an overnight trip to the forest and stay at an inn owned by Milo-sensei's parents. things got really interesting there as these girls are going deep to look for something they can present at the festival. And there was a good amount of fanservice to boot as well.

                  Episode 7

An urban legend worth fighting for.

And the girls just continue to fight there as they can't settle on an urban legend. There's that, and of course that big pillow fight with the emphasis on the ten boobs jiggling. While that's going on, Sonezaki is starting to lose her mind to the point where it's going to cost her unless she wises up. So for the festival, the girls are putting on a play to act out that urban legend, and of course it would be Sugawara for the lead. And while she's none too pleased with the way things are working out between her and Saegusa, she's still going back to him for advice. It will be interesting to see where this all leads up to.

                    Episode 8

                    Lighting the spark of romance.

That was quite an episode there as thanks to that show the girls put on, a couple of couples came to be. First, there's Sonezaki confessing to Shun as she realizes that sexual desires and romance are not one and the same, and that one is not required for the other to happen. Then there is Izumi confessing to Kazusa as that happened after Sugawara got him involved in their urban legend play. While that's going on, Sugawara is still soul searching, and then there's the matter of that woman with Milo-sensei. Anyway, it was nice to see that all this was finally bearing fruit.

                      Episode 9

Holding hands is hard to do.

Just when it looked like it was smooth sailing for Sonezaki and Kazusa after getting over the confession hump, there's a lot more drama. Kazusa is having a tough time doing something as simple as holding hands, while Sonezaki is dazed and confused. And then there's Niina whose role is falling in-line with that story where the one not chosen suffers prompting her to make a move on Izumi by having him touch her ass. Lastly, there's Hongo as she has her hots for Milo-sensei, but tossing that panty away raises a flag. Just when it looked like the drama had settled, it's just getting started.

                        Episode 10

                        Everybody's full of holes.

It's totally on here as the girls are starting to make sexual advances. There's Hongo seducing Milo-sensei after they are taken to a run-down love hotel, and Hongo is quite disappointed that Milo-sensei isn't sex ready leading her to shout like a madman. Then there's Momoko who was touched by a guy she hates and is asking Niina to touch her to cleanse it as she puts it. And lastly, there's Jujo there at the end dropping out of school because she's pregnant. At least things are all well and good for Kazusa and Sonezaki for now, but not so much with the other girls as they are burning up like crazy. Lots of drama here as right now, the girls are a total wreck.

                          Episode 11

                          No more sex.

Jujo dropping out with her pregnancy was the spark for things to really go downhill and Sonezaki is found out about her relationship, and she's being expelled for that, all while the school has placed an all-out ban on non-platonic interaction. Do that means Kazusa's relationship with Izumi is in jeopardy, all while the other girls are in hot water as well. Things appeared to be looking up for Kazusa and Sugawara as she punched Saegusa when he was about to make some unwarranted advances on her. Anyway, things are starting to go up in smoke, and unless they can convince the principal to reverse course, they are in a whole world of trouble after that stunt they pulled.

                            Episode 12 (Finale)

                            Color the world with love.

That stunt of their's got Sonezaki and Amagi reinstated, but the ban is still in effect. So after playing around and Izumi fessing up about his relationship with Kazusa all while that indecent touch Sugawara forced Izumi to do comes to light. All of this happening during a game of colored tag as the girls end up camping out at the school over the weekend. But their efforts paid off in a big way in the end as by putting up those giant banners and stuff, they finally convinced the principal to overturn the ban. Well, that was quite a silly stunt they pulled off, but it made for some amusing drama there as now they are experiencing romance the way they want it. This show didn't exactly have the best approach while the drama got over-the-top, but it left the impact that Mari Okada intended it to have.

Overall, this show has a nicely-written story that drives great character development and relationship building using an unconventional approach. While the romance and drama were nicely done, as well as the usage of adult themes and other mature stuff, this show does have issues with its plot construction. In particular, the show can be hard to understand, all while the characters can get really annoying to make it hard to watch. And the animation quality isn't exactly a draw. But in the end, this show makes its intended mark as the story really make this show go.
