    Episode 1

    A hero in name only.

So it begins with the introduction of King, who is the so-called greatest hero. As it turns out, King wants nothing to do with being a hero as all he wants to do is play his dating sims, and he's in Class S because he's getting credit for Saitama's kills. But then comes a time when he needs to be a hero, and seeing one of the monsters attacking him, that got him to change his mindset up a bit. Meanwhile, Genos is burning up everybody he faces, and the heroes are taking quite an interest in Saitama, and Sonic as well.

It's nice to be back with this show, but it just doesn't feel the same with J.C. Staff now animating this instead of Madhouse, and while this is a reputable studio (a B-ranked seeing that this is how heroes are classed in this show), their quality just doesn't match up with the S-ranked animation that Madhouse typically puts out.

A hero has many different meanings.

There's internal strife with the Hero Association here as not everybody is on the same page in terms of being a hero. Way too many times it's all about getting fortune and fame, as well as climbing up the leaderboard. But Saitama wants none of that, and he made that point clear to Hellish Blizzard when she tried to get him to join her group to advance int he ranks. That led to a clash, but it became an even bigger battle when Sonic arrives and attacks Genos to get to his one-sided rival. And then there's Garou, who made mincemeat out of those criminals who have gathered to do the dirty work on the behalf of heroes. The first season was all about heroes fighting monsters, but now it looks like this season will feature heroes going up against heroes, or at the very least the fights become much more personal.

        Episode 3

        Here comes the hero killer.

Here comes Garou, and he's out to beat the living daylights out of the hero, and it hits Bang personally seeing that the hero killer was one of Bang's disciples. Mumen Rider, Charanko, Tank Top Master, Golden Ball, and others just were no match for this psycho. While these S-Class heroes make quick work of a lot of villains they encounter, Garou is unlike anything they have fought before. At least Saitama is putting up a much better fight, but still it's tough. And then the ending there was rather odd with Saitama wanting to get into martial arts and taking Charanko's place in the tournament with that wig.

          Episode 4

          Caught in a rundown.

This episode focuses on Metal Bat as he is tasked with protecting a rich CEO and his son at a sushi restaurant of all places. But then he's up against a giant centipede that triggers a Dragon-level alert. As if that wasn't bad enough, now he's dealing with Garou as he doesn't give a damn about the city being destroyed. All the hero killer cares about is taking down another S-Class hero and what better opportunity to do so when he's engaged in two battles at once. While that's happening, Saitama is fighting in the tournament in Charanko's place, and Sourface gives him a warning about how much trouble he is in if somebody finds out he's impersonating someone else as last year's tournament had that problem, ironically with Garou winning while posing as one of the other fighters. Things are getting pretty serious now, and it's all because Garou is out for blood. Metal Bat will need to find a way to make it safely home seeing that he's caught between third and home with two battles going on.

            Re: Episodes 1-3

I watched Episode 1, had a bit of distractions, and then watched 2 & 3. This show really is fun to binge on, so I'm waiting till episode 5 comes out to watch 4 & 5 together.

This series continues to just be an amazing amount of fun, with additional exploration of other characters in the series.

Feh. If Garou wants to hunt heroes, go hunt Amai Mask.

              Episode 5

              Fighting is everywhere.

It looked like Metal Bat was going to strike out against Garou, but in comes Zenko to save the day as while Garou is out for blood against the heroes, at least he doesn't want non-heroes to be caught up in the crossfire and with Bat's policy of no violence in front of Zenko, Garou decides to honor it and retreat, all while the centipede monster backs off as well. While that's going on, Fubuki is quite busy herself dealing with a temptress monster with her unit, all while Saitama is fighting strong opponents as Charanko. After all that trash talk with Zakkos, he makes quick work of him, who is lucky that his girlfriend didn't see him going down in embarrassing fashion. Things are pretty chaotic here, not only with the tournament, but with all the fighting outside as the monsters are up to something, all while Garou is hunting heroes as well,.

                Episode 6

                Monsters, they just keep coming.

Things got awfully chaotic here as the last episode was just small potatoes to what's emerging as a huge threat. Even so, the tournament goes on as Bakuzan insists that evacuating the place would cause panic, and that these guys are pretty confident they can keep the monsters from invading. Suiryu and Sourface both take care of business, while Saitama's fist took Bakuzan out quickly. But of course, it's what's happening outside the ring where things are more serious as Genos isn't looking too good after using a lot of strength to beat that cockroach, while Fubuki shows why she's only a Class B hero, and Tatsumaki shows just how much of a badass she is. It turns out the one pulling the strings there is Orochi, who is overrunning the place with monsters to take over the place. There sure is a lot of chaos there, and aside from the subpar animation, it's great to see so many crazy things going on.

                  Episode 7

                  A hair-raising fight.

So after making quick work of Sourface and Chozen, it's onto the finals against Suiryu, and while it took only one punch to beat everybody else, Suiryu is nowhere near the pushovers everybody else was as his karate techniques pack a lot of wind into them, which is bad for Saitama seeing that he spent the entire fight holding onto his wig. But it came off, and even though Suiryu is the champion, he still wants to fight, and despite wrecking the arena and doing all the attacking, he couldn't scratch Saitama, all while a counter move was all it took for him to win. That was an impressive display of power there, though it would have been far more amazing had it been the original production team animating this. While that's happening, the Class S heroes are proving their worth, all while there's a Monster Association lurking in the shadows turning people into monsters, and then wrecking the city with their newfound powers given to them. Next time, a dragon level threat is about to attack with Genos just laying there in his path of destruction.

                    Episode 8

                    No deal with the monster.

And now Goketsu has attacked the tournament looking to make the fighters their own by offering up monster hearts to become monsters. While several fighters gave into temptation like Bakuzan, Suiryu held true to his beliefs and told the first champ of the tournament to go to hell with them. Suiryu sure put on the moves there, but even though he won, his human self didn't stand a chance against the monstrous Goketsu. And in comes Saitama to save the day seeing that he proved to Suiryu that he's stronger. That was some action there, though at least this time the poor animation quality didn't put much of a damper on things.

                      Episode 9

What does it mean to be a hero?

Lots of questioning here as Saitama saves the day once again when he saves Suiryu and the other combatants from Bakuzan and Goketsu beating them with one punch once again. And then he meets up with King again, and this time King is the one giving Saitama a pep talk seeing that Saitama was starting to lose his sense of self by aiming to be the strongest hero, rather than just being the best hero he can be. While that's happening, Sonic accepts the deal to become a monster, but by cooking the core he experiences diarrhea rather than becoming a monster, all while a hero becomes a monster to infiltrate the Hero Association. Things sure are going to hell quickly with the latest developments.

                        Episode 10

                        Monsters strike back.

The monsters are attacking in full force and they have even infiltrated HQ after that parasite possessed one of the executives telling everybody that they have a hostage, but it was all just a trick as no matter what they were determined to go to war. While that's going on, Garou is badly injured and the heroes are taking advantage of the situation attacking him while he's down, but at least he's protecting a kid. So at least Garou won't be a threat anymore, but the monsters aren't backing down. That was nice to see that at least Garou is wising up a bit as now this hero hunter is now the hunted.

This show remains outstanding....and this is going to be a great season to binge, as it all blends together so well. We also see that the big boss of the Monster Association has quite an appetite. Disagree with him, and you're a snack for him.

This season has been about spreading out and filling out the world Saitama lives in by getting us to know more about all the heroes who populate this world. The result has been less Saitama, but a fuller world. A great show.

                            Episode 11

It's all a matter of pride.

Now I can see why Garou chose the path of being a hero hunter, and Death Gatling's actions pretty much put that into perspective as he's all about being the best no matter the consequences. He would have killed a child had Garou not protected him as that guy was only thinking about his ranking and claiming all the glory of taking down Garou. Even though he is weakened, Garou managed to defeat all those guys, but against Genos he was about to meet his match. And then comes his former master Bang to settle the score once and for all. Pretty good insight on Garou there seeing that while he has a disdain for heroes, he has his pride that at least makes him a better person than some of the heroes like Death Gatling and those others who tried to kick him while he's down only to realize that even in that state he's still a formidable foe. And now, the time has come where master and disciple face off against each other, and it should really be something.

                              Episode 12 (Finale)

                              One punch exterminator.

I came here to see a fight between master and disciple, but the monsters just had to get in the way with Phoenix Man taking Garou away, and that giant centipede monster stopping Genos from making fried chicken out of that bird. That centipede was tough to exterminate seeing that Bang and Bomb couldn't take it down with a combined strike, or Genos incinerating it from within. But of course, Saitama's fist did the trick as a punch to the face caused everything to crumble, exoskeleton and all. So this season ends in the middle of a big conflict and I was hoping that at least Garou would be taken down, but one cour just wasn't enough to adapt this arc. Pretty underwhelmed by the ending, and this season in general, but there's still plenty enough to like about this season.

Overall, this season is a huge letdown compared to the first season that was perfect in just about every way. The show still carries on with its core strengths with the characters, the ironic storytelling, and the choreography of the action. But the biggest problem is the animation quality in that it's a huge dropoff from the first season as the switch to one of the lesser animation teams at J.C. Staff took a lot out of what made the first season a masterpiece. There's that, and the storytelling just didn't do the best of jobs as it meant leaving off in the middle of something big. In any case, the show still is enjoyable to watch, just nowhere near what the first season brought to the table due in large part to the change of studios.

                              MAL Rating:
