One day, a city suddenly disappears. Takuya, a professional by-the-contract courier and lone wolf, meets Yuki, the only survivor from the city's extinction. The two rely on a message from Yuki's father, who was heard to be missing, and head toward the disappeared city, Lost.

However, unexpected obstacles strike before the pair, with the reality especially shocking for Yuki. Before them are the feelings of those left behind, a mysterious group manipulating in the shadows, and unveiling the hidden conspiracy. Takuya and Yuki, who both were initially strangers, would deepen their bond during the journey and unravel the mystery of the Lost city.

    Episode 1

    Father has something to say.

So this show begins with Takuya encountering Yuki, who is the last survivor of the lost city that's now a giant crater in the middle of Tokyo. Yuki got a message from her father, and Takuya is out to take her there, but there are quite a lot of obstacles in the way. There are lots of mysteries involved in all this, and it will be interesting to see where things go from here. Once again, Madhouse delivers with the visuals, and while I have mixed feelings so far about this show, the combination of mystery, action, and drama along with the animation from Madhouse ought to make this show worthwhile.

So as usual, the trial period it goes through, so I'll make a decision at the end of the trial.

      Episode 2

      Going on the run.

And just like that, after getting help from Yumiko and Kouta, those two stay behind to get those two away from some organization that is looking to kidnap Yuki for some unexplained purpose. And then they get attacked by a spiritual being who's attached to a knife. There, those two get some more help and Yuki awakens her special power to defeat it. Pretty much, it's more of the same from the first episode as it focuses almost exclusively on action and drama, and skimping out on the story altogether, even more so with this episode. Still, the action and drama are quite entertaining to watch as that's what Madhouse is known for doing so well, but originating from a mobile game, yeah there were plenty of concerns about this show coming in.

        Episode 3

        Exit stage Lost.

This episode sure had quite a different feel to it from the first two episodes as instead of being chased, Takuya, Yuki, and Geek run into an idol group SPR5 as they were preparing to perform until Yua broke down. But after Geek talked some sense into her, as well as her fellow idolmates that she's good to go again. Everything seemed all well and good, except for one thing as this apparently was something that happened in the past and the concert would never happen because they perished in the whole Lost incident. Then there's that ending where it is revealed that Yuki caused the black hole that destroyed the chunk of Tokyo now called Lost. So after two episodes that were all about action and just about no story, this one changes things up as it's clear why Yuki is being pursued, all while it sets the stage for something big to do go down now that Takuya realizes what the big picture is. Of course, why those idols appeared still remains a mystery that should make sense in due time.

So with that, I'll give it one more episode as while the first two were pretty disorienting, this one is more focused and now I get a sense of where things are going in this show.

          Episode 4

          Something's not right here.

So after the big reveal last time about Yuki being a WMD herself that she can't control, everybody is recovering, all while Ryoko is the character of focus here as she's out to make things right realizing that something's amiss here. Just when she has a lead, she get stabbed as apparently the chemical company Lacuna knew exactly what would happen. I have to think that Lacuna is behind everything seeing that they apparently did a bait-and-switch there bidding for a facility to make their own, only to withdraw their bid at the last second so that their competitor would take it and then the Lost happened to wipe them out. There are lots of questions here, but it's clear that someone is pulling the strings here seeing that whoever it is that's doing it, they are doing everything they can to keep the truth from getting out.

So with that, the trial period is over, but I think I'll stick with this as an interesting story is developing. The first two episodes were a mess storywise, but the last two lead me to think that things should at least be worthwhile in the end.

            Well, actually, ... no.

Ryoko is Takuya's friend and former colleague. She appears to be some sort of private detective. Negishi is a police officer investigating the Yuki caused explosion, along with her partner Aoyama. It is Negishi who discovers the contract bid shenanigans and is then stabbed by Aoyama, revealing himself as an Agency operative who has infiltrated the police. It is easy to confuse Ryoko and Negishi as they are practically clones of each other in terms of character design. They are, however, separate characters.

Lacuna is definitely behind everything because it is a front for the Agency.

              Episode 5

              All not in the family.

Lots of different pieces of this puzzle are being established here, from Yuki, the message that came from Lost, the idol group SPR5, the chemical company Lacuna, and now the two jewels Tsuki's Tears and Hoshi's Tears. Lots of things seemingly not connected with each other are apparently keys to solving this great mystery. Souma has the Hoshi's Tears, while Tsuki's Tears is in a museum having been salvaged from a shipwreck with the phantom thieves led by Tsubasa out to steal them. Lots of questions were certainly raised here as it's clear that something's not right with Souma, all while those two jewels are quite powerful. But in the grand scheme of things, this was all about family as both Yoshiaki and Yuki are trying to get their family back after all hell broke loose. Poor Sumire was left hanging there at the end after their attempt at stealing Tsuki's Tears didn't exactly go as planned, all while Akira is about to duke it out with Souma.

                Episode 6

                Brother is back.

Just like that, the jewels are broken and the brothers return to their sanity. Lots of backstories here as the thieves had it quite rough and Yoshiaki never realized what Tsubasa had been going through. Souma sure was quite the formidable foe there seeing that just when it looked like Akira had beaten him, he controls Tsubasa and uses him to take Akira out. Next stop is a place for disabled children as a lot of random plot developments have been going on, but hopefully things will all start connecting soon.

                  Episode 7

Back to where it all started.

Takuya's past is explained by Yumiko as it's no wonder why he became motivated to solve this case seeing that his family from the institution just disappeared when they went out to the circus. He quickly rode to the top and he was getting along with his family at the place designed for human experimentation. And just when Takuya was about to get to the bottom of everything, all of the sudden Kaibara pulled the plug on an investigation leading him to quit and pursue this case on his own. It's pretty suspicious when something like that happens going to show that there's something that these guys don't want leaked out, and Takuya certainly realizes that. All signs point to Lacuna going to show that this company is pulling the strings somehow. This show just continues to just throw things that seemingly don't connect with each other, but they are all somehow related and in due time the big reveal happens. It will be interesting to see where all this leads to.

                    Episode 8

                    Lost and found.

And now the time has come for Lacuna to pay for all their crimes of human experimentation as what they did was just cruel. For that, they have been exposed as Takuya and Yuki enter the place undercover with Geek livestreaming the place so that everybody who is watching realizes just how messed up Lacuna is. As it turns out, the principal just wanted the money to support the kids, but nevertheless associating with them is the wrong thing to do. And after the Lacuna leaders are rounded up, Souma goes out of control about to cause another Lost, but Yuki managed to get to him just in time. At least she prevented another Lost from happening, which would have been quite devastating, but Souma is now dead. Things finally come full circle here seeing that there have been lots of clues being thrown out there with seemingly little connection, and here it all comes together going to show just how wicked Lacuna is.

                      Episode 9

                      They are humans before scientists.

The moment that I have been waiting for is finally here as the whole Lost situation is explained, and what that message from Yuki's father Daichi is all about. This episode focuses on Daichi and his family as he was a scientist researching parallel worlds at Lacuna, and his wife Mifuyu worked at the company's cafeteria. They decided to start a family, and thus Yuki was born. But his colleagues Tsuki and Taiyo are using Daichi's research for greedy purposes, and Daichi was none too pleased about the way these test subjects were treated, but it was to no avail. And thus, the Lost happened thanks to some secret operation from Lacuna leading to everything, and before he vaporized with the Lost, he sent out that message to Yuki. This was some episode there going to show that Lacuna was one messed up place, all while Daichi was somebody whose good intentions ended up being twisted into some evil plot.

                        Episode 10

                        Before all is Lost...

So after the truth is revealed about Lost and Daichi's role in all this, it's now off to the Lost for the final confrontation that will decide the fate of the world as it's expanding in size, and if nothing is done, it will engulf the whole world. Taiyo has some sinister scheme cooked up, and is going to confront Daichi in the Lost, all while Tsuki agreed to become a test subject, a decision she would soon regret. Pretty much, it's all preparation for the final confrontation here as it's a battle of ideals with Taiyo not backing down, all while Yuki will do everything she can stop it. Things ought to get quite intense with the fate of the world about to be decided.

                          Episode 11

                          Into the labyrinth of memories.

And now it's time for the final confrontation as all those that Takuya and Yuki have met on their journey into the Lost lend a hand to help those two get to where they need to go. Geek had quite a lot of trouble with the download, but it's a great thing Kana was there to bail him out. And it's a race against time as Taiyo is there wanting to take Daichi out and put his wicked plan of action into motion. In entering the Lost, a barrage of memories are thrown at them. Lots of random stuff here, but I do realize that there's a reason for all these memories to crop up like that seeing that the place they are entering. One more episode left as this was just a bunch of randomness that doesn't exactly tie up everything together, but hopefully it at least makes sense of everything that has happened.

                            Episode 12 (Finale)

In search of the Lost future.

So it ends with Yuki being given the choice of future between the current one or the one in which life goes on as if the Lost didn't happen. While the vision Daichi sent her is pretty convincing, Yuki decides to live with the Lost seeing that everything she acquired is too previous for her to lose. In making that decision, they have to fight Taiyo and stop him from making the Lost bigger than it already is, and thanks to Suzuna's bullet that managed to damage him even though she lost the fight, as well as a bullet from Daichi that Taiyou goes down. So after all this, Takuya and Yuki are living ordinary lives. I just don't agree with the way this ended, but I could understand why Yuki did what she did there seeing that she's not the type of person who opts for the easy way out. That said, with the mess the story has been that it was going to be incredibly difficult to pull off a good ending.

Overall, this show is just a mess on the storytelling side of things. On the technical side, the show is pretty typical of Madhouse as that's the one thing that makes this show salvageable, all while the story concept was good and the mystery aspect had lots of intrigue to it. That said, this show's story was just all over the place whether it be that the story is confusing, nonsensical, or with parts that are just flat-out irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. That said, there were some good episodes, especially in the middle of the series that builds up intrigue in the mysteries. But the beginning and ending were especially poorly constructed and totally drags this show down in the end.
