From the creators of Rage of Bahamut comes a show set at a school where humans, gods, and demons all coexist, which has quite a different feel from the Rage of Bahamut series where these three races all fought and set the world ablaze.

Mysteria Academy is a prestigious magic school that teaches magic without discrimination to the three factions (men, gods, demons), who usually are engaged in battle with each other. Two of the academy's students are Anne, a princess and honor student, and Grea, a princess born from a dragon and a human.

    Episode 1

    Princess, meet half-dragon.

The setting sure feels just like in Rage of Bahamut, except that it's much more peaceful as everybody is learning as equals, at least in this school. The scenery is definitely the same, all while there are the humans, the gods, and the demons that are all getting along well here. Pretty much, this is all introductions here as Anne is a princess, Grea is a half-dragon that she quickly makes friends with, and Owen is a knight who protects Anne, and perhaps realizes that he takes his job a bit too seriously. A nice start here as the animation quality is pretty good for a short, all while the characters are an interesting bunch. It's great to see episodes being half-length seeing that it was originally supposed to be 1/3 length before problems forced the production to be suspended, but at the same time it's only going to be 10 episodes long. And I'm not exactly sure what the deal is with having Owen's story after the credits as it just feels awkward, and I have to think that it was just something tacked on at the end with the extra run time it got.

In this episode, we learn that Anne likes destroying libraries (which seems to have become a regular occurrence) and she really, really Grea's tail sheddings. And she's a stupid girlfriend.

So Anne definitely has her interests much to Grea's charging. Also Grea leveled up in terms of chest, tail and even hair.

          Time to shed some skin.

All of the sudden, Grea is not feeling to hot, and Anne was scrambling to fix whatever ails her going as far as to seek the forbidden library. But in the end, it was just her molting, which happens naturally for a dragon. Quite a dramatic way for things to turn out what ultimately was nothing close to being life-threatening. But it's all good as now Anne realizes she has some valuable materials for alchemy in her shed scales. Lots of exaggeration going on here between that, and Grea's perceived weight problem.

            Episode 3

            Have some fashion sense.

That was a nice episode there where Anne and Grea go on a shopping trip where it is revealed that Miranda is a fashionista specializing in otaku culture outfits. That was pretty cute seeing those two dressing up there, and that ending there goes to show how into fashion Miranda is. Too bad Grea got dragged into this knowing full well that she's not exactly well-versed in fashion as putting on clothes is just too much trouble.

              Episode 4

              It's better as a duet.

It's exam time, and Anne has no problem with them as after all, she is there to hit the books so that she can become the queen someday. And between studying, she goes up to some desolate place to play the piano. Of course, she just isn't feeling it playing in front of nobody, but in comes Grea to play along with her, and the mood there improves by leaps and bounds. Just an beautiful way to describe the situation there as there wasn't much dialogue here going to show that exams and piano require silence. And of course, her test results are amazing seeing that not only did she get a perfect score, but she plowed through it quickly.

                Episode 5

                They're under attack.

While the academy is a peaceful place from the inside, the outside is a much different story as it's lurking with monsters, and it just so happens that they have invaded the place. Among them is a familiar enemy as that sand golem comes from another Cygames property in Granblue Fantasy. Instead of a slam dunk, a simple pierce through the heart did the trick. Quite a chaotic scene that was, and now school is closed while repairs are made. But it makes for an appropriate time for a training camp at sea.

                  Episode 6

                  Let's float this idea.

With the academy recovering from the monster invasion, what better time it is to take a trip out to the beach for vacation. While the students are playing volleyball with a voodoo doll, Anne and Grea go exploring into a cave. And they find a secret spot so that Anne can learn how to float in total secrecy seeing that as the princess, she just doesn't get out and about to work out. Not to mention, she's using magic to walk on water, which is not quite the same experience. But she's floating after spending all day with Grea realizing just how much different things are. And then of course it wouldn't be summer without the fireworks there at the end. That was pretty uneventful seeing that the episode was mostly spent on volleyball and floating, and not much else besides that.

                    Episode 7

                    It's too quiet here.

After the academy was bulldozed by a monster invasion, it has been repaired and everybody is back in school, all while Anne and Grea are working in the library where it is just the two of them there on a rainy day. So to pass the time, they play hide and seek, and Anne couldn't find Grea anywhere as she had used her wings to hide somewhere up high. Once again, not much was going on here, but it goes to show how close those two have gotten, all while it's not exactly an exciting time. Anyway, that was some game those two played as normally, nobody can just fly away to hide in a game of hide and seek.

                      Episode 8

                      It's showtime!

It's that time of year with the culture festival, and the princess Anne is dressed up to play the prince, while Grea is the princess. Lots of stage fright going on, but Anne knows exactly what to say to get these performers loosened up. And then the play begins with Hanna doing a great job singing. Not much going on here, but it was quite nice to hear Nana Mizuki singing that song as the opening act.

                        Episode 9

                        It's cold outside.

Just another day at the academy as it's the middle of winter, and it's snowy. It's nothing but reflections here as Grea is looking back at the battle that happened not too long ago. And then Anne and Grea go out to that piano, and realize how tough it is to play in such cold conditions. Then that ending there was quite ironic there as the students were gearing up for a battle to settle things between kingdoms, but then they find Anne and Grea just casually drinking tea as if nothing was wrong. One more episode left to go as this show is only ten episodes long, hence explains the late start it got.

                          Episode 10 (Finale)

                          It's a promise between princesses.

So this show ends with the school year coming to an end, with Anne returning to the palace for the break while Grea stays behind. She thinks that she will never see her again, but that couldn't be further from the truth as not only will she will see Anne again, but they will be roommates. Grea should have just opened the letter as unless instructed not to do so, there's no problem opening it up. So with that, the good times will roll. And then it ends with Anne escaping the palace after being summoned to see her father, and she was getting tired of all this princess business, so her attendant stands in for her. It was short, but nevertheless it was sweet as it was nice to have something so different in the same world as Rage of Bahamut.

Overall, this show was pretty much focused on one thing and to that end it accomplishes it. This show is helped by great animation considering that it's usually bad for a short, interesting characters, an inviting atmosphere, and solid character development despite not having a deep story. On the flipside, there just wasn't much of a story, and there were several instances of nothing happening that really made this show feel so empty. In any case, this show sets out an objective to be a slice of life that contrasts the Rage of Bahamut series, and it accomplishes that.
