    Episode 1

Selling his soul to the devil.

So it begins with Daigo offering up his son to the devils in order to bring wealth and prosperity to the land, and that left him in such a wreck. Years later, Dororo meets that guy as the one now known as Hyakkimaru is out to defeat the demons that have wronged him. Pretty interesting relationship that those two are forming, and so far it's off to a nice start there. While I never watched the original series from the days of black and white TV programming, I am very intrigued with what this show has to offer.

As usual, the show will be subjected to trial period rules as I continue to try out shows before deciding whether or not this show makes the cut.

      Can't fool him.

Their first adventure together leads them to a village whose chief just so happens to be a demon disguised as a lady who claims she can't stand up. While all the villagers were fooled, not Hyakkimaru as he saw through that facade as he could sense her evil intent. That just goes to show that being blind has its advantages there as nobody would ever suspect that something's amiss about her. So after a very strong start, this episode does a great job in following it up as this adventure figures to be so full of twists and turns along the way.

        His road to redemption.

The backstory of Jukai is explained as he's the guy who saved and raised Hyakkimaru after his father sold his body to the devils. Jukai fought with the Shiba clan and killed Kaname's father among his victims, but despite Kaname's thirst for revenge, Jukai convinced him to let him live until he helps out a certain someone. And then came Hyakkimaru and he helped train him to defend himself despite not having his senses, and then came the moment when his leg grew back after slaying a demon, and that's when his journey began. Pretty interesting backstory that was going to show how rough Jukai has had it and what helped turn his life around so that he could help people rather than killing them, as well as Hyakkimaru's second chance at life after he was left to die and everything.

          Episode 4

Hear the call of the sword.

Next demon comes in the form of the sword Nihiru wielded by Tanosuke as he went on to being a killing machine. It all started when Osushi asled them to bring Tanosuke back to her, but after Hyakkimaru defeats Tanosuke, Dororo came into possession of Nihiru as it impaled his detached prosthetic leg, and while he was possessed, he fought hard to prevent it from completely taking over him. And then Tanosuke came back into possession and this time Hyakkimaru ended up killing Tanosuke along with breaking Nihiru to get his hearing back. That was just tragic what happened there as Tanosuke was a model soldier before some bastard gave him the sword, and he ended up slaughtering the village he and Osushi had been living in because of it. At least Hyakkimaru knew that only the sword was evil, but he couldn't save him in the end. This show just continues to absolutely nail it as it goes to show that those two are developing a strong bond and sense of conviction.

            Listening to her song.

Now that Hyakkimaru can hear again, that means that song that Mio was singing as she's living with some kids who are war orphans. He slays another demon and get another body part back, but he's weaker seeing that he's losing his prosthetic parts and human parts just aren't as strong. Seeing that this is a two-parter that there's gotta be a lot more to this. While they have found a place for the kids to move to seeing that they can't stay there for very long, something is certainly amiss.

              Don't underestimate war.

Daigo had some pretty ominous words there telling why Tahomaru is not fit for the battlefield as he is, and they come to fruition at the end when those kids were brutally slaughtered by some soldiers who suspected them of being spies. Hyakkimaru should have known better than to just run off like that to slay that demon, but he defeated the enemy. Then Hyakkimaru went on a rampage there, and Dororo had to restrain him seeing that he was becoming just as bad as those demons. Just brutal that was, and if this were Hyakkimaru at the beginning then he wouldn't have given much of a damn about it. But as he's slowly becoming human, such tragedies really hit him.
