    Episode 36 (Finale)

    It's curtains for Zonapha.

And it ends with Masaru showing the end product of his growth from a whiny little kid to a strong man worthy of Narumi's respect. He was persistent and finally convinced Faceless to tell him how to cure the world from Zonapha, which is through Shirogane's song, as well as dropping the station into the ocean. It wasn't until Diamantina stabbed Faceless for loving Eleanor more than her that things changed as his motivation for his change in heart is to meet up with Francine in the afterlife. Masaru sure did man up in a big way, and it leads to a nice ending there. While it was a grind to get through the middle episodes that were just slow and momentum-killing, it all leads to a fine way to end this.

Overall, this show has a mixture of both good and not-so-good things about it. This show started and ended well, but the middle part was just a different story altogether. Among the great things about this show are the character development, the action, and drama as those things are what made this show worthwhile. However, storytelling was problematic as the pacing really killed any chance this show had of being in elite company. The show's progression spent way too much time with the flashbacks and it should have spent some more time setting up the final confrontation seeing that the character deaths are either great or cheap. That said, this show is still worthwhile because of what the MC became and how nice his progression is.

Finding love in all the right places.

And there was never any doubt that what Masaru did at the end of the last episode was so that he faces off against Faceless himself, which is for the better seeing that he knows how to stop Zonapha more so than Narumi. Harlequin has really done it now making Shirogane wear that wedding dress, but it all worked out in the end since she did fall in love, but with Narumi. Quite the beatdown that Narumi delivered, and now Arlequino and Pantalone can die in peace knowing that they completed their mission to get Shirogane to smile. While that's happening, Ashihana kicks the bucket after sacrificing himself to stop the automaton from firing a missile at the rocket. Pretty rushed that was, but it sets the stage for big things to go down in the end. One more episode left to go.

    Fighting back-to-back.

At long last, Masaru reunites with Narumi as Narumi was trying to take on a ton of automatons by himself but realized even he couldn't handle it. Especially since he just came out of fighting Brighella and only just figured out what the true essence of martial arts is to beat that guy. While that's happening, Harlequin is just being a huge creepazoid trying to make Shirogane his own. Masaru really held his own against Graziano able to outsmart him. The action continues, but that ending, I have to think that Masaru wants to settle the score with Faceless himself seeing that this no-good father of his tried to take over his body.

    She's not your's.

And the battle continues as the performers just keep dropping like flies. First it is the Nakamachi trio as they fight the spider puppet who looks like Fusae, but isn't her. Just when it looked like their plan was going to backfire, Nori's acrobatic moves saved the day sending his "mother" to the knife. While they live on, their role in the battle is over. And then there's Arlequino battling Brighella, and while he went down, so is Brighella, all while Pantalone and Harlequin fight. It was a war of words there seeing that Harlequin is madly in love with Francine, but Pantalone lets him know that Shirogane isn't who Harlequin think he is. But in the end, Pantalone bites the dust, all while Harlequin is up against Shirogane, but if there's anybody who can teach him a lesson, it's her. Three more episodes left, and the next one figures to be when Narumi finally reaches the launching site for the rocket after Shirogane takes down Harlequin.

    Fight and win.

More preparations for the final battle as Masaru finally catches up, but he can't see Narumi just yet, not if Pantalone and Arlequino have any say in the matter as now they are going to bite the dust soon from the look of things. And Fusae has returned as a spider puppet, and while it is her, Hiro and Tori are well aware that it isn't their mother, so they are dealing with the problem themselves. Lot more setup here as it's a race to Russia, and Faceless is determined to stop this train in its tracks.

    The show must go on.

Just like with Guy last time, it's tough to see Vilma go as she totally transformed herself, and she had it quite rough since her brother died from Zonapha. But she did take out Jane with her last bit of strength there. It was about time the Nakanishi Circus members got some focus as they have been largely ignored, and Hiro and Tori sure did have it rough when her mother died trying to tough out a fever to perform that led to her death.

    Bringing down the house.

Sad to see Guy go, but he didn't have long to live as he started to crystallize, and he used the last of his life to hold off the pursuing automatons so that the train could get off and running. While that's happening, Masaru sees that Narumi is still alive, and he got to see Guy one last time. Guy sure did go out in grand style there taking the mansion down with him. And now, it's off to Russia as the final battle is coming.

    Zonapha all around the world.

Amazon was really late with this episode as nearly a week passed since the time it was supposed to go up. Anyway, if it had to happen, this was the episode to do it as it transitions into the final story arc as now the world is in danger. Faceless is now in space ready to spread the virus around the world. Meanwhile, Shirogane has been getting weaker as she's using her own blood to help others live through their ailments, and Mingxia just couldn't trust her until she saw the truth. So now, it's a long train ride to a remote part of Russia to save the world, all while Shirogane is really taking one for the team going to show that she's trying to help all the Zonapha sufferers out.

    Not having a blast.

And just like that, Masaru's willpower boots Faceless from his mind, but getting Shirogane out is another matter entirely. Luckily, her joints can be dislocated and put back together as by doing that she slips out of the chains. While that's happening, Colombine is engaged in battle and is trapped, and instead of fighting, she sacrifices herself to save a falling Masaru and Shirogane. Pretty sad to see Colombine go, but she did something heroic there to save the day, all while everybody is finally together again with Narumi making quite the entrance there at the end.

Mind is playing tricks on him.

And now, Faceless is really going for it by sending Shirogane out to space, while possessing Masaru's body and making it look like Masaru defeated himself to get the chained-down Shirogane to submit to him. He thought he had it all figured out, but there there's just one problem. Actually three as not all automatons are on-board with his plan, he doesn't know how to lose, and most importantly he can't completely take over Masaru's mind. Even when he's in it to lose, his instincts prevent him from doing it. Even so, things are still dire for Masaru and Shirogane as the rocket is about to blast off into space, all while Colombine is engaged against another loli automaton.

    Nothing lasts forever.

And the truth is revealed as Colombine unleashes all of the old guys from their chambers, and those automatons sure were in for quite the shock. Pretty emotional that was for Naya and the others meeting their original bodies and killing them by accident. They wanted to live forever, and Faceless could give them that, so that's why they fought for them. Nevertheless that was just sad how things turned out.

    No humans shall be harmed.

And now, the final cour begins with a new opening, and an ending that is the same song as the first opening. Masaru is in the fortress where automata are being created by Faceless, and he and Lise get help along the way by automata aligned with Francine, who has ordered them not to kill any humans. Masaru is helped out by Columbine after she gets attacked by Naya, and Arlequino helps Lise out when she gets chased. So after running around the mansion, Lise falls down, while Masaru is taken to the place where the original bodies for the automata are lying. Something big is about to be revealed, and it's not going to be pleasant to say the least.

    All aboard the Clown Express!

The fighting at the hospital for Zonapha patients wraps up with Narumi managing to get everybody who is still alive out of the facility that has been overtaken by the shirogane deployed by Faceless, and Narumi received some unexpected help from Pantalone, who had a change of heart after being injected with Aqua Vitae form his battle with Ashihana. Narumi and Mingxia had a two-on-two battle, and while Narumi made quick work of the drill guy, the trapeze guy was a lot of trouble, and that made Narumi use his upgraded parts to punch through that durable body of his. And then there's Guy fighting a lot of small fries by himself and he's all worn down after all that. Quite a thrilling escape that was as it took everything those guys had to get everybody out to safety on that train. Now, the focus shifts to Masaru as he's confronting Faceless himself seeing that he's the guy he had believed all this time to be his father who tried to take over his body.

    Blood-stained puppets.

Ashihana has his fight with Pantalone, and just when he thinks he figured out his attack patterns, he hasn't seen anything yet. After getting impaled with his own blade, Ashihana remembers that Aqua Vitae is poisonous to automata, and as such he uses his own blood to defeat Pantalone as he took it in after sucking George's blood out. And then George had a tough time against his opponent, and while he defeated the enemy, he bites the dust, all while Ashihana is about to kick the bucket as well. Pretty intense battles there going to show that it's going to take everything these guys have if they are going to make it out alive and well.

Heads I win, tails you lose.

The chaos continues, this time with the focus on Mingxia as she's battling Jones, the gambler. Of course, betting against him is a bad idea, not because Mingxia has bad luck, but because Jones is a cheater as he can manipulate the bets at will. So she takes matters into her own hands and takes luck out of the equation with that sucker punch that breaks him. While that's going on, George and Ashihana have their own battles, and while Ashihana was given the option to just walk away, he has his pride. It's all action here as it goes to show that Faceless means business.
