And thus, the ritual can gets started where he summons the archdemon, but there are a few problems as he's out of stamina while the ritual is going on, all while the souls alone aren't quite enough to revive everybody. But just leave it to Ranga to bring him back and those two as prisoners, and then the archdemon's servants offer themselves up to complete the ritual. And it looks like it worked as Shion has come back to life, though it remains to be seen if she's back as Shion or as something else just like with the previous failed ritual. That goes to show just how serious Rimuru is when he says he would do something, and he gained quite a lot of skills and stuffs. Nevertheless, while he took out Falmuth's army, Hinata and Shogo remain at-large, while Clayman is hellbent on destroying everything Rimuru has built. It was great to see Rimuru really unleash his anger the way he did.
    Re: Episode 35

    A Slime in Time Saves...?

So, back we go, and things are looking bad for the Falmuth folks. Don't worry, the commander's going to use one of his special skills (that he stole by helping Razen kill an Otherworlder) and surround the king and the archbishop with a human shield to protect them as they get out to safety. Whether that would work becomes moot, when he's instakilled seconds later. As is Razen. Rimuru comes down to deal with the king and the archbishop, at which point we discover how clueless the king is, thinking he can verbally bully Rimuru that the king's just there on a peaceful trade mission. Yeah, right, tell that to your arm that Rimuru just blew off.

All of this has caused Rimuru to gain the "Merciless" skill, which enables him to wipe out the remaining forces of Falmuth, and achieve the start of the "Harvest Festival" which will transform him into a Slime Demon Lord, give gifts to all who are connected to him and resurrect Shion and the others slaughtered in town.

Unfortunately, this can't be stopped, so Rimuru summons demons to finish up what needs to be taken care of, as there's someone still alive other than the king and bishop, and has Ranga take him and the 2 prisoners back to town.

The survivor? Razen. He got shot through the brain, but the regeneration ability from Survivor was able to shrug that off, and then he gets taken to town by the main demon Rimuru summoned, a demon who seems absolutely ecstatic at the possibility of serving Rimuru. Razen isn't concerned, even an archdemon isn't a problem for a mighty mage like himself. Except he underestimated both his magical and physical abilities in matching up against the demon. At the end he seems shocked and thinks he recognizes the demon as a primordial...at which point he gets knocked out.

Back to town. Suddenly everyone falls down asleep, except for Benimaru, and the two outsiders, Myulan and Grucius, though Beninaru is soon ordered asleep as Rimuru ascends through his evolution. But it's not enough, he needs more magicules to complete the job. At which point Primo and the other 2 demons return, with Primo saying the other 2 demons offer themselves up to make up the difference, which they do.

We end with Shion opening her eyes, Rimuru having all sorts of new powers, Great Sage having been evolved into Raphael, an ultimate skill...But what has happened to them all, for good or bad will have to wait until next week.

Episode 36 (To be continued in July)

      They're alive and kicking.

The ritual is successful, and everybody who died has returned to life with their original souls intact. But there's no time to celebrate as one of their allies is in trouble. Eurazania was eradicated by Milim and the demon lords, but luckily everybody evacuated, all while Carrion made a brave stance against an opponent he knew he had no chance against. And that archdemon is now Diablo, and he figures to be quite a useful ally moving forward. That was a nice way to end things as it's all about transitioning into the next arc, which will be in July. Until then, there's the Slime Diaries spinoff to look forward to. It's going to be awhile, but I certainly am looking forward to seeing what comes next as this show got dark, and Rimuru will need to get stronger after getting exposed.

Re: Episode 36 (To be continued in July)

        They're baaaaaaaacccckkkkk!!!

So, everyone's all better, Great Sage is now upgraded to Raphael, Benimaru's going to pay for the password he came up with to make sure Rimuru was still sane. And, big news, Veldora Tempest is now free, and into a duplicate body of Rimuru that he uniquely makes his own.

The bad news: Milim declared war on Carrion and his kingdom, with Milim just showing how OPed she is, while another female demon lord, Frey, ambushed Carrion.

Oh, and the uber-powerful demon has now been given a name: Diablo.

So, lots of fun times, with a wrap up until the second half of the season resumes in summer. This show continues to be fun, looking forward to Slime Diaries...though not looking forward to the nerfing of Shuna's cute horns.

          Episode 37

          The dragon is back.

And so, the start of the second half begins with Veldora taking human form to serve the now Demon Lord Rimuru after spending the entire series up until this point inside his soul. Veldora has a pretty wild and crazy personality despite Rimuru insisting he's a shy dragon. So with all the guys killed in the massacre by Falmuth revived, they now set their sights on taking out Clayman, but it's going to be a long process as this guy is not going down very easily, and not to mention after Falmuth exposed a weakness that they need to secure their town first. Shion is well known as a terrible cook, but after being revived all of the sudden her food tastes much better than before, even if it still looks like some kind of toxic goop that would give anybody heartburn just by looking at it. And so, things resume and are off to a flying start as while it was nice to see them in a slice-of-life setting, this is what this show is all about.

            Episode 38

            Humans and monsters unite.

The clowns are back after being absent since the battle against Charybodis, though it's only Laplace who actually gets any attention as they are about to strike. In the meantime, Rimuru is forming an alliance with human and monster races seeing that they are going to need all the help they can get against the demon lords. Seeing that Veldora is feared and that Rimuru released him gave cause for concern, but in the end Gazel is on-board with what Rimuru has in store. It's pretty much all setup here, but the ending there is a warning by Ramiris that's probably about the Walpurgis that will bring Tempest down to its knees. Not to mention, there's Hinata as she's armed and dangerous as Rimuru saw firsthand.

              Episode 39

              In Rimuru we trust.

Whatever that warning that Ramiris was supposed to deliver, what exactly that was all about didn't get delivered. Instead, Diablo grabbed her and had her being watched by Veldora. While that's happening, Rimuru discusses with the leaders to form an alliance. It took awhile seeing that a place run by a monster at the top is kind of hard to buy into, but they got them to agree. So the plan is to incite a civil war in Falmuth and then install Youm as its new leader, and then Rimuru goes after Clayman. Rimuru has big ambitions there and he certainly has what it takes, but this is a demon lord he's up against and he should have at least heard Ramiris out seeing that Clayman is dangerous and he needs to be ready for anything as there are a number of things that can go wrong.

                Episode 40

                Walpurgis will purge.

So after Ramiris was brushed aside last time, this episode she explains why Tempest is in trouble, and that's because of the Walpurgis as it is a banquet between Demon Lords, one that was called when Carrion betrayed the Demon Lords before being beaten to a pulp by Milim. Pretty much, Clayman is on a conquest and while Rimuru has amassed a strong alliance, he's taking on multiple Demon Lords who are on a whole different league. It's a good thing they have Mjurran on their side with some valuable intel as she used to be one of Clayman's fingers before being killed and revived. And the first target is the animal kingdom, which was previously decimated, but Clayman is out to slaughter the remaining refugees to become a True Demon Lord. This was happening while Rimuru and company were enjoying a soak at the town's ryokan seeing that this could be the last time they can enjoy themselves as Clayman is armed and dangerous, and deaths are likely to happen. It's setup for the big battle that start at Eurazania.

                  Episode 41

                  Get ready for this.

And with that, it's onto the big war against Clayman as Rimuru has finished gathering the troops and found a way to transport an army safely through the creative use of barriers. He was able to rescue the remaining refugees in Eurazania as that place is about to get attacked, and then assembled everybody together to be transported to the battlefield. And in the meantime, Rimuru is going to attend Walpurgis now that he has the privilege to do so as a new demon lord with the intent to only oppose Clayman. So with that, the long buildup is finally complete, and it's onto the big war against Clayman as beating him will take everything he can muster up as a demon lord is on a whole different level than anything Rimuru has previously faced.

                    Episode 42

                    Gathering around the demon lords.

I was expecting some action here, but nope. The buildup continues here as this time the scene shifts to the demon lords, first with Milim and then with Leon. Milim is friends with the harpy Frey, but then came an order from Clayman to put that pendant on Milim that allowed Clayman to control her like a puppet, and it definitely isn't a pretty sight. And then Leon speaks with fellow demon lord Guy as they talk about Rimuru and how the newest demon lord has become such a huge threat to them. So after some more discussion, the next episode is when the Walpurgis banquet begins, and Rimuru carries out his operation to get into Clayman's head. This part has been nothing but buildup so far, and while I do like all the discussion going around, at some point action needs to happen.

                      Episode 43

Things are about to get rocky.

The battle is on to defeat Clayman and his troops, and so far things are going quite well as thanks to Rimuru's master planning and Benimaru's leadership, they make quick work of that enemy unit by collapsing the ground, and then swooping in to strike them down. And then there's the lamia Albis as she shows just how strong she is being one of Carrion's generals. She's turning all the enemy soldiers into stone. There has been quite a lot of buildup leading to this war that took longer than I wanted to, especially since I was expecting it to happen in the previous episode rather than a long discussion on the side of the Demon Lords. So while Rimuru has his own battle to fight, the troops he assembled are doing their jobs so far showing Clayman's forces just how great of a strategist he is.

                        Episode 44

No two demon lords fight the same way.

And now, an episode that's all action and focuses on two fights as it's Albis vs. Yamza, and then Suphia and Gabiru vs. Middray. Yamza, being an underling of Clayman, is easily beaten by Albis, but then he is forced to become the new vessel for Charybdis and turns into that monstrosity that took everything Rimuru could throw at it to defeat it the last time around. And then there's Middray serving under Milim who is an honorable guy and only seeks to fight strong opponents like Benimaru and would rather try and work things out than to fight. Pretty much it's mostly action much like how things are in the Great Ninja War in Naruto, which is not exactly a good thing, but at least things are moving along after all that buildup leading into it.

                          Episode 45

No bones about it: this demon lord is dangerous.

After some fighting, the attention shifts back to Rimuru as he's headed to the Walpurgis banquet. But along the way, he encounters one of the fingers in Adalman the lich. Shuna takes on this boney guy and his army of the undead, and while Adalman puts up a good fight, he's just no match for Shuna's holy powers. And in doing so, the curse gets lifted and Adalman becomes loyal to Rimuru's camp after all the suffering they had been put through. So with that, the big showdown is on between Rimuru and Clayman as the demon lords assemble, and it's going to be quite an intense chess match between these two.

Can't lie his way out of this one.

And so, Walpurgis begins and Clayman fires the first shot at Rimuru claiming that he did all sorts of evil deeds. But Rimuru came prepared as he shows proof that Clayman had been plotting all these atrocities all along. So while he's exonerated, he will still have to defeat Clayman in a duel. Clayman himself is a pushover as Shion beat the heck out that sleazeball. But when his puppets and fingers are involved it's a much different story, and even more so when the puppet he is fighting is Milim as she's a juggernaut, so powerful that not even Raphael can appraise her. Just when it looked like Rimuru met his match, in came Veldora to save the day. I knew that sparks were going to fly at this banquet, and that's exactly what happens.

                              Couldn't script it any better.

So after Veldora came to the rescue, he fought Milim using moves he picked up from Street Fighter and Dragon Ball Z, and other manga like 3x3 Eyes that Rimuru printed for him. So with Veldora fighting Milim, Rimuru is able to make Clayman pay for everything he did, and Shion delivers his punishment. As it turns out, Milim was only acting as she was never under Clayman's control, all while Milim faked Carrion's death as he was just wearing a mask this whole time, all while Frey helped her out to root out the corruption that is Clayman. So after Shion gives him a good beating, Clayman transforms into his true form, right on cue as Rimuru needed for that to happen in order to release the souls of the ones this demon lord slaughtered. Quite a sight to see there as Rimuru and friends really played Clayman for a fool. One more episode left to go.
