    Episode 1

    The darkness never ended.

And it begins with Kiyoi going around and recruiting selectors to put an end to the darkness that WIXOSS has caused, and Satomi, or more specifically Carnival inhabiting his body, is up to some wicked scheme. She got Suzuko, who did something Kiyoi couldn't do by defeating Satomi, and Hanna to join. Pretty much, it's all setup and motivation here as Kiyoi is quite traumatized by the selector battles and the implications coming out of them. Next up, Kiyoi is out to get Ruko to join her cause and put an end to this darkness once and for all.

Really quite thrilled to see the major role Kiyoi is seemingly going to have here. I've been rather intrigued by her even from initial low-key appearance as the LRIG Piriluk in the original series, so much so that I even checked out her spin-off manga. And seems like we're going to get some definite tie-ins to that with things like Remember's appearance in the new OP. Rather surprising, and I quite curious to see what comes of it. But it's not just her, but even more familiar faces from the original Selector series coming back. Their role is going to be rather intriguing.

Dona in Shouhei's body is about the most heartwarmingly "normal" LRIG possession we've gotten yet, though Dona mentions having to fight her natural LRIG urges. The fact she apparently retains Shouhei's memories is interesting, though. I guess this leads to some hope that "disappeared" people will be able to return (perhaps not for that one girl whose LRIG successor committed suicide in a gruesome way: poor her).

        Episode 2

        Two negatives make a positive.

I didn't realize this, but nobody tried to exploit a loophole where by wishing for the opposite that the real wish comes true by losing. Kiyoi's previous selector Amika tried to do that, and of course Kiyoi would get punished by Mayu over it. Of course, selectors aren't supposed to know about that, so it's no question why the LRIGs are ordered not to tell anybody about it. And of course, Kiyoi would go through hell after that with losing Ayumi. It's no wonder Kiyoi is so determined to put an end to all this, but now a new game has started with more selectors and a new twist in the form of a key card, all while Satomi, now with Carinval's soul, and his new LRIG Layla are up to no good. That was quite a story there, but now the games are back on, and so far, the recruitment process hasn't gone as planned now that Ruko doesn't want Tama to go through the battles again.

          Re: Episode 2

No surprise Ruuko doesn't want to have anything to do with this crap right now. It seems like what she's most worried about is what effect it would have on Tama. Tama's now living a happy, normal life with Ruuko and she'd be afraid about Tama being dragged into battles given her special origin. Of course there will be no avoiding them getting dragged in, particularly that we see her close friend Hitoe being one of those being picked for the next Selector game iteration at the end of the episode.

And whoa, I'm really quite pleased that they adapted pretty much all of the key points of the Peeping Analyze spin-off manga here to provide a fully fleshed-out backstory for Kiyoi in anime form. Ayumi and Amika are both complete sweethearts and I love how much to get to care for and change Kiyoi for the better from being a bitter loner (and in the game before meeting Amika, bent on revenge with no care to the consequences for her Selector). Sadly Ayumi is one character in the franchise who is really tragically dead and gone. I had wondered about Kiyoi's contact with Amika back in the first Lostorage season, maybe thinking that even she had completely forgotten about her, which would be sad. But not seeing her there was probably more to do with not having time to explain Piruluk's story. Kiyoi is worried about what all she will continue to lose memory-wise, though. The character design of the new LRIG Piruluk resembles Amika, which is probably not a coincidence as she'd really be on Kiyoi's mind.

Going to be quite interesting to see what we get of the next form of the Selector battles. It feels like a common theme for those chosen this time were socially awkward types who got to finding friends, particularly considering Hitoe, Kiyoi, and Hanna. Though of course Akira is awkward too, in a more completely unhinged way. Makes me really curious who she's going to tangle with. Her former LRIG Kiyoi here? More terrorizing Hitoe? Maybe even Iona the original will appear? Or heck, Urith? Urith's fate seemed sealed, but under circumstances perhaps open to different interpretations. Of course may be more fun to see what the Selector and Lostorage side characters get into meeting each other for the first time.

            Episode 3

            Unlock the power.

Now that the gauntlet has been thrown, everybody is scrambling to get into the selector battle mentality again. Hanna is asking Yuzuki for information about selector battles, while Ruko is not quite sure what to think about it all. Then there is Akira as she is back and is out to take revenge against her former LRIG being Kiyoi's first opponent. Akira is the same psycho that I remember her being, and it was good to see Kiyoi putting her in her place using the key card that unlocked a second LRIG fro Akira to use. This battle was coming sooner or later given that they weren't exactly on the best of terms during their partnership. Next time, it's Kiyoi against Satomi, and one that probably isn't going to end well.

              Re: Episode 3

It's really quite an intriguing setup we have going here. The participants are all lying low and trying their best to get information about how this version of the game operates. It's a fitting way for all of them who are veterans at this point, after really suffering from mistakes the first time. Also interesting is the differences between the experiences of those in the first Selector battle with the second, as we see most with the exchange between Hanna and Yuzuki. I like that Hitoe is not trying to go it completely alone and is seeking Yuzuki's help, though they're both trying to keep it from Ruuko due to her feelings on Tama. The reappearance of LRIGs from the first battle is intriguing as well. Hitoe seems to be referring to Midoriko as if she is Midori trapped in a card again, and not like the new LRIGs who apparently weren't girls who lost in the Selector battle. I have to wonder if this Midoriko is someone else, formed from Hitoe's memories of her, and Hitoe hasn't really verified the situation.

Well, there is something rather suspicious about the new move Kiyoi uses to win against Akira, with the resemblance to the Eternal Girl ritual. Carnival is likely not going to bring happy things next episode. Suzuko is back in even despite her denial of Kiyoi's offer and Hanna taking care not to bother her with her troubles. It could be only a matter of time for Ruuko.

                Episode 4

                LRIGs at stake.

Suzuko is now back in the game as much as she and Riru don't want to get involved. Hitoe battles Layla against her better judgment and while she puts up a good fight, that's no ordinary LRIG she was up against. And then Hanna battles Carnival, and while she thought that she was battling Guzuho, Aya appears and gets overwhelmed in a two-against-one battle. This time, the winner takes the loser's LRIG into their key card as now, Midoriko belongs to Layla and Anonymous-chan belongs to Carnival, who already has other LRIGs in her possession. Pretty much, this highlights the stakes of this new tournament, and they are quite high, but now the question is how those LRIG-less selectors can get back into it seeing that they need an LRIG to battle, and even without one they still have coins left.

                  Re: Episode 4

Poor Hitoe. I like that she's finally gotten to show her character growth in a Selector battle, and against an opponent who is even more of a psycho than her initial bully Akira. But even with a confident strategy that pulls through pretty well at first, she's up against someone who is mentally inhuman in her love for battle. In the end, she loses and her time with Midoriko is extremely short yet again. Yuzuki is there to comfort her, and now being chosen as a Selector, has the goal of getting Hitoe's precious "Midori-san" back. The shipping possibilities are so stark there that I wonder about a few things. First, we haven't heard a single word from Yuzuki about the twin brother she's obsessed with and has been a sticking point the series over. If Hanayo the LRIG she has is indeed Hanayo the girl, there could some awkwardness if that subject comes up again. But there's also still no confirmation on whether the new Midoriko and Hanayo are the "real girls". Will be interesting to see how Hitoe and Yuzuki react if they find they are not. And if there is a process of being trapped as a card again, maybe we're about to see it with Tama... Her circumstances however are quite different from Midori and Hanayo who were regular girls to begin with.

Pretty intriguing also what we get of the match in Hanna's case going against the big bad herself (well, in a "him" body: but she'll be able to put herself in play in future battles if Layla is any indication) Carnival. It was a lose, but proves to be a good source of information for Kiyoi. Will be interesting to see if those two cross paths with Suzuko or the Ruuko gang again to share information. The next episode title indicates that might be a possibility.

                    Episode 5

                    Only one can win.

Chinatsu is back as a selector, and Suzuko must stop her from teaming up with Satomi again at all costs. While Chinatsu meets up with Satomi being blackmailed into joining despite Meru's warning, Shirai arrives to stop her just in time. And while that is happening, Yuzuki battles Layla and becomes an LRIG, but loses giving Layla possession of her and Hanayo. Based on observation, the selector tournament is much smaller this time, but it's a battle royale to claim all the LRIGs for themselves. Quite a lot of drama going on there as once again, Satomi has a grand scheme in place, but the specifics of it have yet to come to light.

                      Re: Episode 5

So we get the reappearance of Yuzuki's LRIG form, really quite briefly... Seeing she's found herself quite trappable, maybe the implication is that Midori and Hanayo are indeed the real girls trapped as LRIGs again. Poor Hitoe yet again. I suppose it won't be long until Ruuko is there with her, or maybe she will come across the Lostorage good girls as allies. Guess we'll see. Though I wonder about the large number of Selectors participating here who were never LRIGs. I assume they can't use the "trump card" on themselves. Or can they? Anyone who was seems to have the ability to join a battle, though. The way things are going it feels like Dona's stand may be short-lived as well, which would be too bad since she's the most heartwarming of the Lostorage LRIGs.

                        Episode 6

                        Return to the battlefield.

Just when Kiyoi thought she had things figured out, she was thrown for a huge surprise as Carnival is an exception to the rule as her special ability allows there to be three LRIGs on his side, and a three on two battle just isn't fair in this game. Luckily, it's back to the status quo for Kiyoi as the battle was interrupted just before Carnival delivered the knockout blow. So that leads to Hanna forming a strategy to have Suzuko and Chinatsu, and with Suzuko winning she is entrusted with Meru. In the meantime, Ruko is back in the game after hearing from Hitoe about what happened with Yuzuki, and now all the pieces are in place. It should be interesting to see where this all leads to. The previous seasons all had an interrupted battle to save the MC's bacon just when she was about to suffer a crushing defeat, and that is what just happened.

                          Re: Episode 6

Kiyoi thought she was going to be looking awesome, being the first to put three LRIGs into battle on the same side, but the gamble didn't quite work out. But well, Carnival gets to cheat and do it anyway, because she's special somehow. I do wonder if we're going to get any interesting specifics on just why Carnival is special. Perhaps not.

It's a little sweet to see a rare happy, fun Selector battle as Suzuko and Chinatsu face off. It's something I don't think we have seen since Ruuko and Hitoe battled very early in the first series, happily devoid of any knowledge of what losing meant. Actually it's still a bit of a mystery what losing all your coins is going to mean in this current iteration. Even Carnival didn't seem to know. It's unsurprising Chi-chan loses the match as Suzuko is still confirmed as one of the primary protagonists, but I like how Chi still wants to find a way to be involved and help. Will be interesting to see what comes of that.

Ruuko and Tama really is one of the most heartwarming duos. Tama is happy to have really lived her and Ruuko's dream, but in the end she's just as determined as Ruuko to stick up for her friends. She will go back to "batoru" to do so. It's nice her reversion to a card actually happened on positive terms. But it does seem with the "keyhole" mentions that she will only being playing into the antagonists' hands. Beside being a heartwarming duo, they're also real batoru monsters, so going to be interesting to see just how Carnival and co. intend to take them down.

Next episode we may have some focus on Kiyoi since the preview lines are about her. I'm guessing this might meant the return of Remember (given her appearance in the OP), and I'm quite interested in what her role will be. Also wonder if Amika will be dragged into these circumstances.

                            Episode 7

                            This time, it's personal.

Kiyoi's history is explained here as the original girl was bullied by Akira, and then things changed when she met her LRIG Remember. Just when things were going well, everything went south again when she became an Eternal Girl, and Remember ends up being Akira's LRIG, who treats her like dirt. But then Akira came to the realization that without Kiyoi, her life has no meaning seeing that things were not quite the same with her out of the picture. So Kiyoi and Akira are about to battle again after kidnapping Amika. Things have gotten pretty dicey over on Kiyoi's side of things. In the meantime, Ruko is battling again, and she battles Layla and gets Yuzuki back, but the others they will have to get back some other time. It's great to get Tama back in the game after being out of it for so long, but nevertheless things just keep on getting more messed up, especially on Akira's side of things

That wasn't Akira. The girl who bullied Kiyoi was Remember's original girl self. Was kind of expecting she would turn up here, and this adapts some of Remember's part in the Peeping Analyze spin-off, including her just deserts of being confined by her final Selector. That punishment would be implied to be cut short by Ruuko's conclusion in Spread (now confirmed here), but she still suffered even afterwards coming back to her "regular" life.

Shame the new round of Selector battles allows Remember an easy path right back to her her twisted desires towards Kiyoi. I hadn't thought of Akira, but I figured she was going to end up getting Remember when I saw her, given the common theme of twisted bullies between them. Akira doesn't take kindly to anyone at this point though. All she wants of Remember is a way to get back at Kiyoi, and isn't going to make nice with her. And things took a predictable course with Remember knowing Kiyoi's weaknesses well. Both Amika and Kiyoi's feelings for her are the sweetest. Sad to see it exploited by psycho bullies. I'm hoping things end with Kiyoi with Amika together and having an even bigger, happier circle of friends, though at this point redeeming Akira and Remember probably wouldn't be a satisfactory part of that. I felt like there was a faint bit of hope of Akira being redeemed in the aftermath of Spread, but she's really making the case there's no hope for her here. Remember always felt thoroughly irredeemable.

No surprise Ruuko shows herself to be a powerhouse and gets Yuzuki back. The kind of battle doesn't really suit Layla's needs, though, so not going to be easy getting back the other friends. If they take out Layla as she puts only herself on the battlefield, will they get back the others in addition to her if they win? Still a number of questions to answer here. Hanna has the idea to go to Yuzuki on something she's curious at just the point we know Yuzuki's not going to be around... do wonder if something will lead her to the Ruuko gang soon.
