    Episode 1

Tutoring these boys is a royal pain.

It begins with the pint-sized professor Heine coming in to educate and tutor four very different boys in the royal family as there's the arrogant one, the playboy, the polite one, and the silent type. While dealing with these four princes has scared away previous tutors, Heine is up to the challenge, and boy did he make Leo submit to him and take that test. Just get a hold of his diary, and Leo has no choice but to submit. Pretty interesting start here, and while it isn't exactly my type of show, I enjoyed it enough to keep going for the time being.

      Re: Episode 1

I feel like I'm in an otoge adaptation, but with the lifeless female protagonist replaced with an adult shota who hasn't shown much character beyond being obsessed with giving everyone a nickname. The princes are all quite obnoxious, it's hard to get any idea of where it's going if anywhere, and I'm not a fan of the aesthetic. Not a high-quality production in general, but that probably wouldn't have helped it that much anyway. Far from some of the worst of any season, but plenty far from having a chance to join my lineup as well.

        Episode 2

No student can surpass this teacher.

After Leo gave Heine such a hard time, it's onto the other boys as they all took his test without Heine resorting to some dirty tricks. First, there's Bruno who is the competitive type, but no matter what he does he just can't beat Heine. As flattering is it is to be called master, Heine just wants to be called professor. Then there's Licht, and he's quite the playboy there. Lastly there's Kai, and while he has a history of violence, he is really a good guy who cares about his family. Pretty decent way to get to know the princes in this family.

So with that, I'll watch another episode, but at the moment I will have to start cutting shows. This one is on shaky ground, but at least I'm willing to give it a chance to impress as it somewhat does that.

          Episode 3

          Teachers are not the enemy.

The test results are in with Bruno totally acing it, Kai doing very well, and Licht getting an average score. But Leo fails hard and it turns out that he's an idiot who blew off studying because he developed a fear of teachers after his first tutor was so strict that he couldn't take it anymore. He's great at sports, but in terms of academics he'll need to do quite a lot of studying. So this was all about Heine reaching out to Leo to convince him that teachers are not the enemies that he thinks they are. That was pretty helpful of Heine to reach out and convince Leo that he will become a teacher that will help him learn in a more natural way. That was some pretty solid development there.

So with that, I'll give this show one more episode before deciding what to do with this. At the moment, it's on the bubble and pretty much, I have decided that either this or Anonymous Noise makes it as I want to have one of the two shoujo anime shows on Tuesdays on my watchlist.

            Episode 4

            Everything's all smiles.

Heine's next lesson is a field trip to the capital where the boys need to learn the way of the commoner. And while the boys were enjoying themselves, they failed to get the big picture as the point of this trip is to see everybody smiling. Well, not exactly with that purse snatcher, but those guys protecting the peace trumps that. That was pretty funny to see Leo clueless about how to buy something seeing that he didn't have the right amount in one coin, while everybody else is behaving awkwardly. But it's all good as those boys sure have taken a liking to Heine, and throwing a welcoming party for that.

So with that, the trial period for this show has ended, and at this point only one of the three shoujo anime shows will remain between this show Starmyu, and Anonymous Noise. At this time, I will have to step back and evaluate before making my decision.

              Episode 5

              Make the grade.

Leo's struggles in the classroom have gotten so out of hand that the king is issuing an ultimatum to study up or lose his right to the throne. So after three days of studying with Heine, Leo score just enough to keep his succession as he was aided by Heine's grading routine to give a point just for writing his name down. Leo still has a lot to learn, but at least now he's taking studying more seriously once again as Heine is nothing like that drill sergeant of a teacher he had to deal with. Pretty nice to see everybody having a great time with Heine.

With that, this show has been chosen for the shoujo anime of the season as this show clearly stood out more than the other two ever did, so it's on the season's watchlist.

                Episode 6

                It's part of his education.

Now the focus is on Licht as he's working as a waiter at a cafe, and loves his job. But there's just so much that could go wrong that could end up costing him his right to succession, and while Licht is working in secret under the name Richard, Viktor and Heine know about it. So instead of disciplining him, Viktor decides to work at the cafe for a day to understand him better, and he certainly learns a few useful things that convinces him that it's up to Licht to decide this for himself, and that this job is also part of the learning experience. That was a rather unconventional method of approaching things, but in the end everybody comes to an agreement that Licht will continue to work as long as Heine is present.

While all is good on that front, Rosenberg is plotting and scheming to take the throne for himself by generating scandals that will force the siblings to surrender their right of succession. It will be interesting to see just what he is up to and what kind of beef he has against that family. But in any case, this show continues to be a pleasant surprise, and certainly the best of the shoujo anime shows this season.

                  Episode 7

                  Do the smart thing.

Next up is an episode about Bruno, and he's the brainiac of the foursome as he studied hard because he wants to be just like his father, all while Eins has set the bar really high for the throne going to college at such a young age. While Bruno is smart, he's lacking in confidence, and that's why he's learning from Heine. His presentation was a huge hit, and he was offered by a highly respected professor to become a scholar not knowing that it is part of Rosenberg's scheme to get the boys to drop out of the running so that Eins can take the throne unopposed (though with his smarts, he certainly has earned the right). In the end, Bruno decides to keep aiming for the throne, but he will become a scholar if he isn't chosen. Bruno sure is dedicated to his studies there, and he has what it takes to do whatever needs to be done seeing that the path he has chosen will be really tough if things don't work out.

                    Episode 8

What we've got here is failure to communicate.

After the last three episodes focused on the other princes individually that as expected, this one is about Kai as he's a kindhearted man who is just awful at communicating often sending the wrong messages. And that's why Heine is there as he is helping him fix his communication problems starting with a trip to the zoo with Adele after getting upset at the dog ruining some badly-drawn painting. It turns out that Kai isn't the only one with trouble communicating as the dog was actually preventing catastrophe as that painting was about to set off a fire being too close to a lit candle. That was quite a big surprise to find out that Heine drew that painting, so it looks like there's something Heine isn't good at. In any case, that was great to see Kai finally learning to communicate by starting with that maid. Now that the princes got some development, its onto finding out Rosenberg's motive for sabotaging the princes so that Ein could ascend the throne unopposed.

                      Episode 9

                      Learn from past mistakes.

Old wounds are reopening when an article about the incident that gave Kai such a bad reputation surfaces. What happened is that Fuchs was jealous about Bruno's grades wrongly accusing him of using his royal lineage as leverage, and as such he beat him up and in turn, Kai beat him up, resulting in Fuchs being expelled, Kai being suspended before ultimately leaving, Bruno to drop out, and Leo and Licht had their enrollments cancelled.

It turns out that the article is a trap to lure Kai so that Fuchs can get his revenge and just when ti looked like Kai was going to beat him to a pulp, he remembers what Heine taught him, and as such Heine did the rest and let the police take care of those guys. That ought to teach Fuchs a lesson to not attack others out of jealousy, and seeing that Kai transformed, he's hoping Fuchs will do the same. Next time, some dirt is dug up about Heine as Rosenberg knows something that could be a game changer in all this.

                        Episode 10

                        Cleaning up the past.

Heine was a much different man before becoming a tutor as he committed a crime before he got into the tutoring business starting out by being a volunteer at a church. Rosenberg knows all about it, and he's definitely up to something once again. But in the meantime, it's good to see those boys putting their lessons to great use with Leo studying, Licht continuing to be passionate about his job, Bruno teaching with confidence, and Kai communicating with everybody. And as gratitude they offer to clean up Heine's messy study seeing that he's always hitting the books. Once again, things are pretty chill, but it's only a matter of time before Rosenberg delivers the bombshell.

                          Episode 11

                          Who's the criminal now?

So the editor was bribed into writing that article about the criminal, who is Heine as official records indicate that he was charged with attempted murder on Viktor. But that's not the whole story as Viktor tells something that is kept hidden from the public. Before he became king, he would sneak out and having a chance encounter with Heine made him realize that the problem the orphans he was living with presented to society. Things were all well and good, until he was caught going missing and a palace guard shot Heine thinking he had kidnapped Viktor, and Viktor took the bullet. In response to what he saw, he built a church for those orphans with Heine teaching them. That just goes to show how great a guy Viktor is wanting to make this place the best it can be, and experiencing commoner life has really helped shaped his thinking. But now, Heine has quit the job and unlike with their previous tutors, they want him to come back. One more episode left and it will be interesting to see how those boys put their lessons to great use in order to bring Heine back.

                            Episode 12 (Finale)

It's for the future of the kingdom.

So as the final part of Rosenberg's plan, Heine is fired because of his rumored criminal past and that the kingdom's reputation would be jeopardized should a criminal be the one to tutor these boys, and his replacement would be somebody that Rosenberg can easily control so that Eins would have a clear path to the throne. But leave it to those boys to show off their growth and let the council know that Heine is the only guy for them, and that all that matters is the future. While Eins comes across as a jerk, at least he wants things to be settled fair and square on his own hard work, so way to tell Rosenberg to stay out of this. As expected, Heine is back, but the way it happened was really something.

Overall, this show ended up being very nice to watch despite the premise suggesting that it was going to be pure fujoshi bait. The character development is really strong while the episodes are a bunch of fun adventures all to help the boys learn about society and themselves. This show's biggest shortcoming is the plot as it is a weakly-constructed one and Rosenberg's involvement just was underwhelming and didn't get enough attention. In all, it's a show that was surprising fun to watch as the characters all made it work in the end.
