    Episode 12

They're pretty much ineffective against Miumi who is playing the role of offensive tank for her masters. Also I'm getting the feeling Miumi has a secret desire to be a sadist & is enjoying the idea of smacking people down as they helpless try to stop her.

Not to worry, through the power of the Dreamcast they reverse the link so now Saya (mostly her to save time) can have a talk with their one true love aka Amane. Yeah, Amane has a lot of issues that weren't apparent before.

Yes, this time we're seeing Amane as she views herself. Someone that is part of a crowd, but the part that no one actually cares about. Ie she's nice to benefit off of, but you wouldn't miss her. They actually used social media to bring this home as Amane got no retweets or likes. Darn it, like her tweets people!

In any case, Saya gets through to her & Amane breaks out of her suffering prison as I'll catch. Now it's finally time for Amane to basically power them up. Which allows Saya to surpass Miumi & the other girls to fight the monsters better with help from their wives.

Yeah the relationship chart in Ange Vierge is fun. Like each of the 4 girls loves Amane, they also love another girl, & they love Saya (who is basically madly in love with Amane. You could sense her early jealousy too)

Miumi is saved, the monsters destroyed & Amane greets her harem. Episode then ends on Amane getting a like on the tweet shown earlier showing some do care. Or it ends on an end card of Amane & Saya in the bath together. With the others watching & Saya looking uh happy.

So Ange Vierge is one of the best shows of the season mainly because of how it handled Amane & Saya in conjunction with the other girls. Often times girls are who are captured or turned evil become none characters. They also spend too much time captured.

Ange Vierge solved this. First, it decided to use flashbacks to flesh out Amane. Second it tied Amane not only to Saya, but to four other girls. Through these four girls we saw an additional side of Amane. The four girls in question also confided in Saya. This allowed Saya to grow by learning about Amane & getting a chance to help them.

Next because we only had 1-2 episodes for each of the girls turned evil, it never dragged on too long. Yes, you could argue the later the girl was freed from the dark side, the more episodes she spent in the dark side.

However while we were in the Almaria/Sofina arc it's not like we were supposed to be concerned about Ramael as she wouldn't really get the focus until the Elel/Ramael arc. Plus all of them going on at once would be chaotic.

So with flashbacks we still got Amane focus. With connections, Saya still had a role to play. With the other girls, we were allowed to have a more balanced series. Then of course they bring everything together with episode 12.

Ultimately Amane is a good lesson in the idea that character interaction is important to character development. Amane's character would have been a lot weaker if she only interacted with Saya & the other girls got no development.

    Episode 11

Aoi makes her move & is too strong for them, so it's time for Miumi to save the day. However at the last minute Miumi decides she wants to be the final boss again. Either she got infected again or she was dormant.

So, that's what the two baka sisters were doing this whole time. I find it amusing that they captured four girls using only guns when the girls could have easily kicked their butts. Then a blast from the Green World blows their clothes off and saves Saya and the girls. Also, Almaira continues to be possessive of Saya because possessive Almaria is best Almaria.

    Episode 8-9

Now for the Stella arc. Her connection with Amane is strong & Amane is her mother in the sense she was turned on by Amane. Stella even came in packaging. Plus her main dilemma is Amane getting angry at her not listening to her. To make a long story short, Stella was being reckless. Still like anyone who took things the wrong way she decide this meant Amane sees her as a tool & she should see everyone as a tool.

Stella's connection with Xenia & Carene was pretty weak, but to be fair it is a change of pace to not have them all be connected. Plus I do love how Xeniacarene lost because not only was their fusion not complete, but the fact Carene didn't want to risk Xenia. Yeah for once the enemy got that scene. Where one person in this case Xenia is like "It's ok if I'm destroyed, finish the mission" & the other doesn't want to sacrifice her. Yet again the "dark side plan" has back fired.

Ageha & Mayuka have slept together & I do mean it that way, so progress.

In any case, the current pattern is interesting since we only have 4 maybe 3 episodes to cover it. So they might need to speed things up a bit soon.

    Episode 6-7

So now it's time for the Red World which is opposite the Green World, White World & Black World. Yet the Blue World has everything. Main focus is now on Elel & Ramiel. The idea of a one winged angel sounds cool, but the way Ramiel made it clear she was hurting over her lack of a real second wing made it clear that sometimes it only looks cool. Yeah, she and Elel got frustrated with everything.

Still things worked out & the best part is when it came to the 2nd "match" between them, there were no blows exchanged. All they did was just talk. Honestly the conversations (when you get past the dark side talk) are a lot more interesting than some would have expected from episode 1.

Actually I'm not even sure what the dark side is trying to do. It turns the girls evil & makes them want to destroy each other, but it also makes them more open with their feelings & those feelings can conflict with their orders. It's also probably why they fight one at a time. Ie they all want to destroy the world, but they don't want to help those others.

One thing this show has been having is side segments with two characters, Ageha & Mayuka. As their segments progress further & further, they start to become the most blatant couple.

    Episode 4-5

In this arc, Alma is both dealing with her view on Amane & her love for Sofina. Oh & the whole dark side stuff. Big problem for Alma is not drinking blood. She eventually drinks Saya's blood which make Sofina jealous & Sofina gets defeated.

In this universe, drinking blood is like uh making out maybe. Also they point out the whole problem with your prey constantly turning into more mouths to feed. Ie you'd have more mouths to feed & less food to consume.

I get what they're doing her. They're using flashbacks & a connection with Amane to help build her character. They also want Saya to have some way of connecting with each girls. Plus this is Saya's form of grinding for the rematch.

Just instead of Saya killing monsters until she's level 85 to fight the final boss again, she's helping the others with their problems to gain experience for when she talks to Amane again.

Good action, but the all "dark side" talk is downright silly. And the lightsaber sounds? Hahaha.

So the alpha drivers are just asleep while being frozen in time. And since they can't do anything just by standing around, Saya and friends go to Ryuujin islands to try and get the senpais back since they haven't been contacted yet. And the senpais have turned over to the dark side. Dark evil Hinata tells Saya that she's a loser, weakling, etc and isn't working as hard as Amane etc and whatever happens and Saya gets a power up and she defeats Hinata. Hinata gets defeated easily because she partially unlinked herself unlike Mikage and the others.I like how Hinata still remembered to cover her breasts while fainting after being defeated.

Pretty boring stuff. They continue with that story in the beginning before the OP which is pretty useless by now. The episode started with Saya and Amane time during their first day at school again. Probably to show the relationship between the two and what Saya is fighting for or whatever. This episode didn't end on an interesting note like the previous one. I'm really not willing to go ahead here. This was pretty boring. Although it had almost no nudity if you compare this episode to the previous two showings which is commendable. But they'll probably make up for it in the next episode.

    Re: Episode 3

I should have seen the turn to evil coming. Interestingly the mind control isn't along the lines of "Yes, master", but more along the lines of corrupted personalities. Probably so the girls can think they're in control. Aoi is living her dream of being the main villain. Except she's under control by Amane & others, who are under the control of the monsters who are probably controlled by a bigger bad & she might be controlled by one too. Oh it's going to be some girl. I fully expect the obligatory bath scene to be the final battle.

In any case, putting aside promoting the card game & fanservice aspects if you stop and think about it, this is basically a romance. Our Heroine has lashed out at her one true love. She realizes she's screwed up and what she's lost. Her mission? Get her love back.

Seriously if Amane & Saya are not embracing by the end of the series, the whole show will feel pointless. Actually this episode made it clear that at the very least they should be kissing. However I know how anime works. So I'm lowering my expectation to embracing.

    Feed the dark side.

So not only is Amane trapped, but her mind is being corrupted to turn evil. That has already happened with Hinata and Mikage as those high-ranking fighters are out for blood against Saya and company. But while Saya doesn't have the rank, she has the willpower. So what needs to happen is that the girls need to keep on fighting each other to delay the collision, and certainly having these girls dying out is going to be a big problem. That was a better episode there, but still not enough to make watching this worthwhile.

So with that, I think I have had enough of this show. I was debating whether or not to continue for at least one more episode, and in the end I decided to go for it. At least it has gotten more interesting, but not enough for me to keep on watching.

Darn it, after asking myself "How many episodes will it take for Saya to stop throwing well a Saya", I'm now left wondering how many episodes it will take to rescue Amane.

Saya, please get your act together, save your waifu and then you two can get married, make out and whatever else.

    Re: Episode 2

When the episode started I thought they would go back and then show whatever happened to reach the point of the first episode or something. Even though the first episode wasn't really exciting in any way, it still would have been quite good. But then I found out that there was literally no point in showing Amane and Saya looking for the dorms on their first day of school. They might as well have shown some naked girls in that time because obviously that's what they like doing here.

They should really tell what the relationship between the low ranked main characters and their higher ranked respective senpais is. Why is Almaria only talking with Sofia and not with others? Why is Stella only with Carene and not anyone else? And why are those higher ranked senpais acting like they're good friends? They should really show how each pair met up and how they got in this relationship of friendship or something because all this really feels off to me.

The whole episode was so so until the last moment when it was discovered that the dildos were a distraction and the tentacles were the real enemy and attacked while the main force was out. And then the tentacles attacked the alpha drivers which shows that these things have some intelligence and are working with a plan and not just mindlessly killing the girls in their way. It sure added some tension but the rest of the episode was so meh that this final part couldn't make up for it. One more episode to see whether it can make it through. The crystallized Amane is making me give this another episode.

There's no going back to being ordinary.

Saya just wanted to be special, and she got her chance by awakening her Exceed. Things got pretty serious here when an enemy attack draws the top fighters away, leaving Amane a sitting duck for a sneak attack, and that leads to Saya having to prove her worthiness. In the end, Amane ends up crystallized. That was a much better episode than the first seeing that the very least, the fanservice didn't take up half as much time as the first episode, and that stuff is actually happen that leads to dire consequences. Well, I wasn't highly invested in this show to begin with, and while I'm more interested in it, my interest isn't high enough to keep on going with such a crowded watchlist already.
