    Blowing away the competition.

Next up is match 4 between a team led by Bakugo fighting for Class 1-A. This team knew that Bakugo wasn't going to be a good teammate, so they decided to build a strategy around supporting him so that Bakugo can blow the opponent to smithereens, and that he did. Tokage had a pretty sound plan to counteract Jiro's hearing Quirk, but Jiro overcame that by paying attention to how loudly those sounds get. And now, it's Izuku's turn to go for the final match of the training exercise, and it looks like One For All is going to evolve seeing that Deku has been hearing things and having a weird dream about it.

He's the one for all One for Alls.

It's onto the final match, and this time Shinso is part of Class B as Class A ends up needing his assistance to keep Izuku's Quirk under control. One for All goes berserk as Izuku is letting the emotions get the better of him, but he realizes that he needs to keep a calm head in order to use the Quirk effectively. And that he does and he's in control of himself once again. This goes to show why the Quirk can't be passed down to just any wannabe hero as it requires emotional control, something Izuku is very good at doing, but lost his composure too many times. Now that Izuku is aware of what is required to use his Quirk effectively, the match continues and it will be interesting to see what changes he makes knowing all this.

        Keep it under wraps.

It's a good thing Shinso was there to keep Izuku's uncontrollable power under check as he hasn't mastered One For All. Now that Izuku is more aware of his power and realizes that he can't fight at full strength for the time being, he rallies his teammates and they score a dominating win in their match to hand the victory to Class A. It was a great show of teamwork as these kids have been through quite a lot, but now Izuku has questions that he will need to figure out the answers for himself when he examines the battle and everything. Next time, the arc wraps up and then the attention shifts over to the villains.

          Zero to 100 to hero.

And for the 100th episode of this smash hit, the rest of Class 1-A becomes certified heroes, and it didn't take long for Bakugo and Todoroki to use their license to take down a purse snatcher who is flooding the streets to do it. Great to see that Neito is much humbler this time around compared to the sports festival as his copy quirk is being put to great use. And Shinso, he definitely passed with flying colors, so he will be a great addition to UA. Thus, the training arc wraps up, but before getting into the next arc it's an anime-original Christmas special, which would have been appropriate had this show waited six more months to begin airing rather than getting it out now.

            Happy holidays, heroes!

With the term over, the heroes have their own Christmas party, and it was great seeing those kids getting into the holiday spirit. Those Santa outfits are really cute, and seeing Eri getting the holidays mixed up is pretty funny. And in the meantime, the work study program is starting back up again with Izuku, Bakugo, and Todoroki working under Endeavor this time around. As it turns out, the anime is skipping the next arc and going into the Endeavor Agency arc and it looks like it will go back and do the Meta Liberation Arc after this one seeing that the Endeavor Agency arc is closely related to the previous one, while the Meta Liberation Arc is a great lead-in to the major story arc that comes afterwards. Should be interesting to see how these three handle Endeavor's teachings as he has a ton of character baggage, especially when it comes to his son.

              Somebody's watching them.

Time for new theme songs. It's off to Endeavor's Agency as school is out for winter, but there isn't much time to take a break as a big war is about to break out in just four months and these boys will need to do some heavy-duty training if they stand any chance at defeating the League of Villains. Especially when Hawks is being closely watched by the enemy and he needs to use some kind of code in order to relay his messages that the enemy is the Meta Liberation Army. Pretty ominous this all is, and this actually is told after the villains arc that's coming after this one concludes. This goes to show just how serious the villains are this time and will do everything and anything to wreak havoc on the heroes

Taking things one at a time.

So that's how Hawks gets his intel as his feathers can spy on the villains, and of course he relays the information to Endeavor using books with a hidden meaning to them. And then the three heroes are hard at work learning the secrets of Endeavor's success as they go on the case, and realize that they need to improve their reaction time. A rather dull episode that was, but nevertheless it continues to build things up for the big war that will happen in season 6. Next time, it's an anime-original episode featuring Froppy and Selkie as the frog girl is back training under her just like in that special episode that happened in season 2.

And it's an anime-original episode to lighten the mood at an extremely tense time, especially with what awaits in store for season 6. It's back to the Ryukyu Islands where Tsuyu returns to train with Selkie, and this time Ochaco and Nejire are joining her for this work-study session. They are dealing with a drug ring and thanks to Froppy and company, they were able to put a halt to the shipment, all while rounding up the criminals. They are only the couriers, but nevertheless it's a job well done. Pretty nice way to take a breather as there won't be any opportunity for any moving forward as things are headed towards a crisis situation.

                    Re: Episode 104

Cute swimsuits and Movie 3 foreshadowing! Or as Elvis would say:

                    Girls! Girls! Girls!

This is an anime original episode and we get focus this time on the girls, as Deku remembers that Tsuyu and Ochaco are interning with Dragon Hero, Ryuku, along with Nejire. Ochaco is showing off her new costume, which was inspired by her rescue of Deku. At the same time, Water Rescue Hero Selkie with his sidekick Sirius, is chasing down a ship with drug ingredients that were stolen from an illegal lab, with a ship towing the wrapped contents. But the illegal drug is Trigger, another Quirk Booster, and one of the smugglers uses it to make a massive smokescreen, complete with chaff that disrupts radar as well. So Selkie calls in Ryuku for air support, and she brings Nejire, Tsuyu and Ochaco with her.

After the bad guys!! But first, beach time for the girls, with Selkie and Ryuku supervising as the 4 girls, Ochaco, Tsuyu, Nejire and Sirius have playtime at the beach.

So, yeah, fan service, but this is fan service of the "cute girls in cute swimsuits" instead of "cute girls in sexy/daring swimsuits" variety. Also, Selkie knows the ship isn't going to try to go anywhere until dark.

After which we see a great action number, one of great teamwork, that highlights everyone's powers and how they all come together to takedown the bad guys: Selkie and Tsuyu go underwater to search, while Ryuku transforms into her flying dragon form and flies out with Nejire also flying, with Sirius using her superhearing powers as command and control to relay Selkie's sonar morse code, with Ochaco on standby on the boat as well. Selkie locates the bad guys, and Sirius directs Ryuku/Nejire and their patrol boat to intercept. The smokecreen goes off, but the bad guys don't realize about the underwater aspect and Selkie and Tsuyu capture the boat, but Nejire sees something as the smokecreen clears: The covered object being towed wasn't the drugs, but a seaplane with the drugs inside, it takes off Tsuyu can't quite reach it, and it's faster than Ryuku or Nejire. But Ochaco to the rescue! Sirius fires off a harpoon with Ochaco riding it, and we discover that her new gear has a grappling hook, enabling her to get onboard the plane, knock out the pilot...after which she doesn't know how to fly a plane.

Uh-oh. Ochaco won't bail out (she can make herself weightless after all); those chemicals into the sea would be an environmental disaster. The plane's stalling, and it's too big for her to make weightless. But they don't give up! Ryuku sends a powerful blast at Nejire, who absorbs it for a full powerup, and then sends that power at Ochaco on the plane, giving her a power boost, strong enough to make the plane weightless long enough for Ryuku to fly up and bring it down for a safe water landing. Leaving Ochaco the traditional anime rainbow heaves.

It's such a nice bit of teamwork in this episode. Afterwards, beach time again, and the denouement: The smugglers were just couriers who know nothing, except that it was going to the European country of Otheon, and then an after credits tease of My Hero Academia Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission. These teases have happened for every movie so far, and it's coming out August 6th in Japan.

So, there's fluff here as the reason for the episode is to tease the new movie, and fun with the girls playing on the beach in cute bathing suits. But it delivers a great example of tying in the powers of 6 different heroes to make a successful mission.

                      When family matters boil over.

And now, an episode focusing on the Todoroki family as Shoto is the youngest of four, while her older sister Fuyumi is the reason why this family hasn't fallen apart by now, and the first child of the family Toya is apparently dead. And then there's the mother as Endeavor was so abusive towards her that her mind became unstable, and that instability caused her to inadvertently throw a pot of boiling water at Shoto causing that burn scar. As bad as Shoto's situation is, there's always the opportunity to make up and Izuku is encouraging Shoto to do just that, though there's somebody where that just isn't possible. This season has been pretty slow so far in pacing, but it's building towards something big that will happen in season 6, so hopefully the payoff it worth it.

                        Just don't expect forgiveness.

And now an episode about Endeavor owning up to the way he had been treating his family, and in particular the third sibling Natsuo. He's trying to make things right by keeping Natsuo and Fuyumi safe. But before that, there's Ending to deal with as he's so obsessed with Endeavor and wants nothing more than to fight him in a battle and for him to continue carrying that brash attitude he has. He does it by capturing Natsuo using his Quirk, but Izuku, Bakugo, and Shoto who take him down and not Endeavor. And Ending is none too pleased that he's changing his tone seeing that his current self is not exactly suited for a hero. It's nice to see that Endeavor is changing and being more like what a hero is supposed to do seeing that he will need that mentality moving forward if he doesn't want his family caught up in his troubles, like what happened to Natsuo. So he's having Fuyumi and Natsuo live by themselves as his way of atoning for what he did to them, all while not seeking forgiveness. Looks like next time it will get to the start of the Paranormal Liberation arc rather than going back to the arc that was skipped seeing that the Paranormal Liberation arc is long and will need an entire season to adapt.

                          No longer human.

The students are back from winter vacation, and while that's going on Present Mic and Eraser Head are interrogating Kurogiri, while learning exactly what Nomus are. They are human corpses engineered infused with multiple Quirks to make them dangerous weapons for the villains. The one now known as Kurogiri was the UA student known as Oboro Shirakumo as he was best friends with Mic and Eraser Head. Shirakumo was really enthusiastic about becoming a hero, but one day he was killed on a mission. His body was taken by the villains to a hospital to engineer him to be a Nomu and nothing remains of his former personality. So this pretty much confirms just how far the villains will go for power and turning fallen heroes into their mindless minions is going pretty low to say the least. Next time, it will go back and do the My Villain Academia arc in the leadup to the big war coming in season 6.

But then there's Re-Destro as as he declares war on the League of Villains as he has bigger plans in place. That is to start up an organization where the current society is crushed and replaced with one where Quirks can be used without any limits. Pretty ominous buildup here going to show that there are different kinds of villains around.

She was just getting pummeled by Curious there, but she was able to get away, though not for long as using somebody else's Quirk takes a heavy toll on her body and she because a sitting duck there. It's a good thing Twice arrived when he did or else things would have ended really badly there. In the meantime, the battle between the villains and the liberation army continues on as while they are both bad guys, they have much different visions when it comes to being villains.

Even so, he did find a greater purpose in life with the League of Villains, and here he is coming to Himiko's rescue by multiplying himself and creating an army to fight back. And then Tomura takes the fight to the Meta Liberation boss Re-Destro where the head honcho explains just what Quirks are capable of doing. Pretty interesting backstory that was. Next time, it will be Tomura's turn to have his background explained as he is the son of a late hero before being taken to the dark side to lead the League of Villains.
