Akari Mamiya is a freshman and E-rank student who looks up to her upperclassman, the S-ranked Aria H. Kanzaki. They both attend Tokyo Butei High School, which employs the "Amica" system, allowing an underclassman to train alongside an upperclassman. Akari is determined to be paired with Aria.

    Episode 1

    Opportunities wait for no one.

It all starts off with Aria showing those robbers not to mess with her and Akari showing just how bad she is as a Butei. But seeing that she looks up to her that she is determined to become her Amica, something that several others tried and failed to do. To get her approval, she must take a test where she swipes her gun. And in the end, she shows that she is capable of pickpocketing and while she got the gun away, she couldn't take it. In the end, the two become unofficial Amicas.

The original series was pretty bad with a number of cringeworthy moments, a mostly unlikable MC, and too many fanservicey moments. This season, while the MC is another wimp, she's a hard worker who is not a jerk, which should lead to far less cringeworthy stuff. Anyway, that was a decent way to start this series, and it figures to be an improvement over the original, but I'll see which direction this show goes. Seeing that this is the only Tuesday show with a realistic chance of making the cut that I could very well be obligated to watching this show to fill in the void that day, but I will see how this show and this season shakes out before making the call. While still dull and generic like the original series, at least it's dull and generic in a way that's not so off-putting.

      Episode 2

Friendships are mightier than the sword.

And so, Akari's training with Aria to someday become her Amica begins, and while it's good to see that Aria's presence has helped Akari boost her self-confidence despite a glaring deficiency in her skill, Shino is not too thrilled that her friendship is threatened now that she is training with Aria. So after inviting her over to her mansion and treating her to a fancy dinner cooked up by her maids, she has a duel, and while Akari was struggling, Aria's presence got her to tap into her resourcefulness for the win. And in the end, Shino is part of an Amica group.

Shino's affection for Akari goes really far there with all of those dolls and photos there that it's creepy seeing what happens when someone comes in between her and Akari. But of course, this is all about doing what's best for Akari seeing that her confidence goes through the roof when Aria is around. Anyway, that was a solid episode there, and while Shino's yandere antics has me concerned moving forward, at least she has accepted Aria into her life.

So with that, I'll watch a bit more, and seeing that it's the only Tuesday show with a realistic shot of making the slate that I'm leaning towards keeping this show. The original series is pretty terrible, but at least this series is doing far less of the bad stuff that made it tough to watch. Still, just about everything in this show so far is generic as hell, so that's why it's still in the trial period.

        Episode 3

Buteis are supposed to be manly.

The girls get their checkup, and while that happens Raika has a sparring match with a guy and she totally owns him. Raika bumps into Riko, and Akari does a pathetic job tailing Kinji seeing that he's simply on a case with Aria. And then comes Kirin who sees Raika as her prince and her dream Amica partner, and seeing that Kirin is into girly outfits that it caused her reaction time to slow. In the end, Kirin beats Raika to be her Amica.

That was cute seeing those girls dress up there, and Raika sure is quite the fighter. That is, when she's not distracted by girly things that proves to be her Achilles heel. Next time, the focus is on Urara and it will be a two-part story apparently.

          Episode 4

          There's no backing down.

The big exam for freshman Buteis is coming up, and in the Quartet teams of four face off against each other in a game of Capture the Flag. Akari, Shino, Raika, and Kirin form the team, and their opponent is Urara, Fuma, and her two servants and Urara is taunting Akari seeing how she thinks it will be a cakewalk. So the girls go training at Shino's mansion with Akari getting special training by Riko in riding on the saddle machine. Also, Shino lets everybody know that she just made Shirayuki her Amica while Aria praises Akari for her determination.

That was pretty cute seeing the girls working together, especially with Shino's obsession over Akari through having the same pillow. While these girls are deficient in skills, they are hard working and they don't let their egos dictate things like what Urara is doing. Aria certainly sees something amazing within Akari even though her skills are pathetic, and she's letting her know about it. Next up, the Quartet battle begins, and it should be something.

            Episode 5

            Gotta be flexible.

The Quartet is on with the objective being to steal the other team's eye flag, and Urara uses spies to figure out exactly what the team's tactics are. Shino takes down the sisters, while Raiko and Kirin fight Fuma while defending the flag. Akari faces Urara and she's at a huge disadvantage as Akari's micro uzi can't fire accurately from afar, while Urara's revolver can. But remembering to be flexible that she uses the scooter to get the flag. And then one of Riko's minions causes the construction site to collapse. Reki saves everybody by shooting the debris away, while Akari protects Urara with electricity.

The action was pretty underwhelming, but seeing Akari's resolve is pretty good there. As it turns out, Urara was denied a chance at being Aria's Amica, and it's easy to see why as Aria is all about flexibility, something that Urara showed a blatant lack thereof by sitting on her ego and not anticipating all possible scenarios. After having to be saved by Akari that hopefully her attitude changes for the better, and it turns out that there's something unusual about Akari seeing that jolt of electricity she unleashed.

              Episode 6

              Not just Amicas, but lovers.

Raika has a weird dream of being married to Raika, and then seeing Riko taking her away. To celebrate Akari's promotion to D rank after winning the Quartet, everybody goes to a restaurant, and in the meantime Aria concludes that the incident with the collapsing scaffolding is an accident, but she is curious about what happened with Akari's electricity power to save Urara. Raika becomes a CVR instructor to four girls, but they were simply interested in Raika rather than in her lessons, leading her to fall into her dream world where she declares Kirin her bride.

That was pretty cute seeing Raika get backed into a corner like that with Kirin holding nothing back to charm her with cuteness. Those two were meant for each other. Next time, it looks like Urara has taken quite a liking to Akari seeing that she and Shino are fighting over her. As if Aria weren't bad enough for Shino, here comes Urara who figures to be an even bigger threat.

                Re: Episode 6

Given that I was not a huge fan of the first Scarlet Ammo series, I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying this. Not knowing anything about the source material, I had no idea how yuri-licious it was going to be. I'm interested in finding out what Akari's deal is.

Lots of lesbians in this show. A Yandere, a sweetly evil duo, and tsundere, and a fangirl. Kirin's even got her own loli harem, who try to gang ra--I mean love Raika tenderly. I wonder how a Mocha/Cocoa combo would fare against these crazy girls.

                    Episode 7

                    Why can't we be friends?

Having been saved from Akari, Urara suddenly becomes obsessed with Akari the same way Shino has, and as such she goes as far as to deliver her flowers and have a gourmet feast prepared for her to celebrate her promotion to D rank. Of course, Shino won't stand idly by to let Urara get her way, so the two fight it out with swords. The fight is stopped when some students passing by appear and one of them falls, and the three work together to save her going to show that they are friends.

That was really cute seeing Urara getting so delusional about Akari, while the sword fight was pretty solid there. Of course, anything other than a stalemate just wasn't going to happen, at least not on Akari's watch. Akari applied the transitive property there to show that everybody is a friend, and that was pretty smart of her to do that.

                      Episode 8

The pool is a dangerous place.

Another crazy dream starts the episode, this time Akari gets inked by an octopus in the sea, and in reality she spilled an open water bottle to make it look like she wet her bed. In sharing that dream with Urara that she decides to take everybody to a water park designed to look like the ocean, while preparing a swimsuit that shrinks with hot water for her that's identical to her's. But she ends up wearing it as the twins switched them and after some craziness on the beach, it's Shino and Urara who end up in her specially prepared pool.

Here is the obligatory swimsuit episode, and things sure got out of hand there. From Aria reluctantly going seeing that she's flat-chested, to Urara's swimsuit that Akari was supposed to war, to the balloon with a camera, and robotic dolphins that it sure got crazy. Urara sure did err in a big way by having matching swimsuits seeing that they would not get mixed up like that had they looked different. Akari did get a gun in the end, but it's not the gun, so her training continues.

                        Episode 9

She shoots to kill, so she rather not shoot.

Aria comes over to Akari's place to hang out as someone is after her, and Shino and Urara come over seeing that they won't let Aria take her away. And then the one after her attacks. While those guys are nothing but small fries, Aria underestimates the number of goons and is put in a bad situation where Akari had a chance to shoot the enemy, but fearing that she might kill him that Reki ends up taking care of him. Aria has decided that Akari just isn't cut out to be her Amica seeing that she would rather handle dangerous missions alone.

While I knew that Akari had some sort of hidden talent seeing that the Quartet match revealed something about her, it's one where she has a killer instinct that she wants to keep under wraps. While it remains exactly what her deal is, that would explain why her gun skills are so pathetic seeing that she's either going to be a killer or a terrible gunslinger with no middle ground where Aria is, who admits that she isn't the perfect butei that everybody thinks she is. She should take Aria's advice seeing that guns traumatize her, but for now she needs to get her mind off of guns. Next time, Riko makes her move on Akari and Aria goes down.

                            Episode 10

As a butei, no killing allowed.

Aria gets injured and Nonoka is starting to go blind thanks to a poison that girl Kyochikutou used on her two years ago. Akari's secret is revealed as she inherited her family's secret killing technique and Kyochikutou wants that for the I-U having stolen the Fuma clan's poison technique to infect Nonoka. As she is the only one who can cure her that she has put Akari in a tight spot having to join her or else Nonoka dies. But in comes Aria reminding her of everything and thus, her first mission, Operation AA, begins.

After everything that happened the last time around that it figures that a lot of stuff would be revealed here, and it's no wonder why Akari is built to kill. Her ancestors are pretty skilled at killing, and she was seeking out Aria because she knows how to fight without killing better than anybody. Kyochikutou really did a number on her sister there, and it's no wonder why she seems to be so attached to Akari seeing that she's out for blood. Seeing that Akari and Aria are both enemies of the I-U that they are Amicas for at least this mission, and seeing that they come from very different backgrounds that it will be interesting to see how they approach things.

                              Episode 11

Here's the secret: It's not poison.

Akari and Kyochikutou finally have their long-awaited fight, and through her poison, Kyochikutou takes out Fuma, Raika, and Urara pretty easily, and she has a gatling gun to take out Shino to bring out the Mamiya technique out of Akari. But as it turns out, the secret to her technique is not poison, but to stimulate the body's impulses to create an electrical current. Kyochikutou is defeated, but in comes her older sister Suimitsutou to take her revenge out.

The action in this episode is decent here, but I felt that this ended too quickly seeing that Kyochikutou was laying waste to everybody to build things up for this moment. Anyway, I had a feeling something was off if she was defeated just like that, and as it turns out she's not alone as the mastermind behind this operation is her older sister. One more episode left to go, and this time, Akari and Aria are fighting as partners against Suimitsutou in what figures to be the only time they are together for a mission.
