    Episode 7

    Fujoshis are everywhere.

Anju plays hooky from her studies and causes a ruckus in town. She gets into BL as she is introduced to it from Rurutie, she eats lots of skewers, and she makes a scene at the inn. But it's back to the castle when the normally quiet Munechika comes in to take her back, all while she gets into yaoi as well.

That was a fun episode there, and certainly I wasn't expecting there to be doujinshi in a place like that. But of course, fujoshiism can't be contained once it starts. Anju sure did cause a lot of trouble there, but she needed to get away from her royal duties at some point.

Lol Rurutie bringing out the hidden fujoshi within everyone

So a loli is running around town causing everyone trouble: first she takes Rurutie's yaoi manga, then she makes Haku and the kid pay for her food, then she goes and eats all of Kuon's dessert, and then she ruins stuff in Atui's room. Kuon's punishment is to make her work, work and work. And then her guardian shows up and spanks an apology out of her. Lol the little girl who was just spanked in front of some commoners is the imperial princess.
She's the heir and she'll probably stay the heir forever since she won't be ascending the throne because the emperor doesn't look like he'll be dying any time soon. She'll stay a princess for a long time.

There was a feeling or something Haku got after seeing the half mask man. Wonder what it was that he felt

        Episode 8

        No corruption will go unnoticed.

The general Dekoponpo has been running a bug-fighting gambling operation on a ship, and Haku is out to expose this corrupted man. But things go off track when the oversized bugs break out of their cage and start slaughtering everybody on the ship. And in the end, Haku and Ukon escape, but they didn't need to take the golden goddess with them as evidence has already been collected, while Ukon explains how his dual identity came to be. Then Haku goes somewhere with clues emerging about his past.

After the laid-back and lighthearted mood the past few episode, this one shifts gears that's more serious and action oriented. The original series is known for wars against corrupted lords, and this one invokes some of that here with a general having gone amok to do something that could have been a huge threat to the city if it were not for reinforcements coming. It will be interesting to see just what Haku's past is all about seeing that Mito apparently knows something about him.

          Episode 9

          How are they a threat?

Messengers from Tuskuru have arrived, and they are Aruru and Kamyu. After an incident at dinner time where Haku and Kiuru ate all of the dumplings that Kuon wanted that she goes missing. Haku, Aruru, and Kamyu go out and end up wherever Kuon is hiding, all while Haku is getting fleeced in the wallet. Then they finally meet each other at the bookstore. Then they take their leave trusting Haku to take care of Kuon.

That was pretty nice to see more characters from the original series appearing as Aruru and Kamyu come, while Elulu makes an appearance there at the end. Poor Haku as he had to spend all of his money for those visitors, but it goes to show that whoever said that Tuskuru is a threat needs to be taught a lesson. That was pretty funny seeing Kuon trying to remain hidden, and seeing the tiger and bird getting so close to each other is really cute. Oshutoru said it best when he thinks that Tuskuru is only a threat if they provoke them.

I thought that was her speaking to Aruru and Kamyu at the end. But I just realized now that she didn't make the trip.

                Episode 10

                Love is in the air.

Anju has fallen for Oshutoru, and to get her love across the girls feed her mind up with stuff from fujoshi material. Meanwhile, there's a Robin Hood thief on the loose and while she means well, she's being a nuisance inadvertently causing property damage in the process. And then Haku goes falling into the sewers to bump into the thief Nosuri, who cross paths again when they end up in the same bath, while the other thief Ougi has left a map. And then Anju goes acting crazy having been made to believe that this BL stuff is how to approach love.

That was pretty funny seeing Anju go about trying to get her feelings through to Oshutoru in an unconventional matter, all while Haku runs into yet another girl by accident. So this episode continues to be more of the same about like in the capital, and not much in the way of politics and conflicts that is the backbone of the original series.

                  Episode 11

                  It's all an act.

Ougi and Nosuri "kidnap" Anju and Haku, and this is an elaborate scheme for Anju to get Oshutoru's affection. Oshutoru responds to the threats and Haku poses as one of Nosuri's minions in this act. Oshutoru and Haku have a duel and while Haku has improved, he still is nowhere near Oshutoru's level. And while this plot got Anju into a lot of trouble, she did get Oshutoru's support.

That's pretty silly episode there. I knew that Anju was pretty mischievous, but I never thought she was that desperate that she would go to great lengths to reach out to Oshutoru. The fight is pretty good even if it was supposed to be more of a stage show than an actual battle. Anyway, that was pretty funny seeing how bad those characters are at acting.

                    Re: Episode 11

So Anju's little joke wasn't something to be taken lightly. She is the princess and her kidnapping is a serious issue. And Oshutoru taught her this the hard way. He didn't want to get involved because it would only make things more serious but Ougi and Nekone were too persistent. At least Nekone got what she wanted – Anju didn't get Oshutoru's love, things got serious and she learned a lesson, and she got spanked to boot.

Haku can fight, which is surprising seeing that he doesn't like doing too much work and fighting is a lot of work. Poor Haku though, gets wound up with all the crackpots.

Rurutie though, two men colliding... That's a rather weird way to describe a fight...

                      Episode 12

He's got bad luck with ladies.

Just when Haku has reached his limit with girls, two more girls enter his life as they are Honoka's daughters given to him to be his servants as a reward for "saving" Anju from the bandits. And then Mikazuchi comes in to put on a scene in disguise and it is revealed that he and Oshutoru are fellow buddies as generals. Just when the times are about to get good, Yamato is invaded.

Things couldn't get any more tougher for Haku now that he has two more girls who have stuck to him like glue, and that leads to some pretty funny moments there, all while Mikazuchi stirs up trouble there to add to the chaos. So with that, things are about to get much more serious now that a war is beginning. This show is known for all the wars, but so far there hasn't been much of that for this season, and now that is coming. It will be interesting to see what direction this show goes now that warfare is coming.

                        Episode 13

                        War is coming.

As Yamato prepares for war, strategies and other discussions are going on. The Eight Pillar Generals are introduced, and especially Vurai who is a tough guy, but at the same time his loyalties might get himself into trouble. As for the enemy, they are living in poverty and that's their motivation.

That's a huge shift in the mood of this show as it looks like the second half is going to be about war, which is different than the original series in that there were about four different wars going on. It seems to me that this war is going to be such a huge deal given that the enemy is laying waste to the surrounding villages without much resistance. And then there is Entua there at the end, and she is someone to look out for as another girl possibly in Haku's harem, but for now she's an enemy. Based on hints from the opening, it looks like the characters from the original series are going to get involved.

                          Episode 14

                          Think about your daughter.

War is on, and Haku goes to the war zone to reach out to Oshutoru seeing that he's not exactly thrilled to be digging ditches. There, he notices how the enemy fights by taking hostages and forcing them to join forces and fight against their former comrades. So Haku's mates take it upon themselves to not kill the soldiers while Haku goes to a village conquered by the enemy to bring out the blade master's daughter, who convinces the blade master to turn his back on his commander.

To think that all of this started because Haku doesn't like digging ditches is pretty silly, but in the end Haku shows that he prefers to settle things in a less violent manner, and after seeing just how bush league the enemy's tactics are, exposing them became a simple matter. Not to mention, Dekoponpo shows his incompetence on the battlefield seeing that he cut off his tactician before he could divulge an important piece of information. That was nice to see Haku come through like that and it goes to show that Yamato's generals are not exactly trustworthy.

                            Episode 15

                            This is war.

With a new tactician in charge and Oshutoru and Mikazuchi on the front lines, the generals and troops make quick work of the enemy, all while Haku is taking all of the hostage soldiers over to the capital Maruruha. And then Oshutoru takes out the general who happens to be Entua's father. Just when things were going well, Vurai transforms into a giant beast and burns the capital to the ground.

The mystery from the original series comes full circle here as Hakuoro can transform into a beast, and Vurai is of the same kind here. But Vurai sure does have no room for judgment here as anybody who is an enemy must be killed. It doesn't matter that the enemy was taken hostage or is simply an ordinary person living with them as to him, all of them must be exterminated, and that he did. It leads me to believe that Vurai is going to become a dangerous enemy. Anyway, that was really shocking what went down seeing that he is all about destruction, while the others would rather minimize the violence when they can.

                              Episode 16

                              War changes everybody.

With the war over, everybody has returned home and Haku gets shoved into the river leading to a banquet to celebrate victory. But Haku isn't exactly in a party mood seeing that war left a bitter taste as he couldn't do anything and that he would rather live in the status quo. His buddies reassure him that change is something for him to decide. So the party is on with everybody boozing and it ends with the guys stripping.

That was really silly and I figured that it would go back to being that way seeing that the majority of this show has been that up to this point. But it keeps all the serious stuff in perspective since everybody just came back from war after all, and that everybody has changed in a way.
