Anime is not a right. It is a privilege, a consumer product, art, work for hire, a luxury, a hobby, entertainment.

Speaking of the Ten Years Later articles, I enjoyed Queen's Blade, too. Reminded me very strongly of the stories about Project A-ko - that supposedly it was supposed to be hentai, but it was turning out so well, the producers decided to throw some more money at it, and try for a more mainstream title.

Very much an ecchi title - the battle costumes look more like lingerie, some of the attacks are very sexually charged, and even incidental things take on a risqué tone. When Leila is escorted home by Rusty, she's not merely tied up - it's a full on shibari rope bondage scene.

And yet, it was a good series, very much in keeping with fantasy traditions. High fantasy, elves, a tournament to decide who gets to be queen. . .

One thing I would add, though, is that "The Exiled Virgin" is only half of this series. "The Evil Eye" covers the second half, including who actually wins the tournament.

(The other Queen's Blade titles floating around are actually sequels)
"The roaring of lions, the howling of wolves, the raging of the stormy sea, and the destructive sword, are portions of eternity too great for the eye of man."

-William Blake, "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell"
